- Q:I have a Dynacraft Next Turbo bike,I have called on the cycle companies and said I would need to call the Next company. So I was wondering, what are the crank bearing sizes for the bike? Thanks!
- You should go with Bones Original Swiss Competition Skate Bearings Skateboard wheel bearings optimum for speed and strength Precision-grade Swiss design and manufacturing acclaimed for 25 years Nylon ball retainers and Bones Speed Cream lubricant for a sustained ride Removable rubber shields make cleaning a snap Skate Rated for better performance than any ABEC rated bearings; lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects
- Q:im trying to open like a bike shop kinda thing, and i was wondering if like any kind of grease or lube will work for bike bearings and the handlebars.? help?
- To answer your question, here is a basic list of lubes for bikes... 1) Chains and external drivetrain parts, brake levers, shifters- light machine oil (NOT motor oil) or appropriate silicone or parrafin based lube depending on riding conditions; 2) Bearings (roller): if exposed to the elements (like the top of a cable detangler), use silicone based oils or something that is easily washed out and replaced. If protected (like hubs), use white lithium grease. NEVER pack the areas full of grease... once clean, wipe in a thin layer of lube on the cups and cones, then roll each bearing around your fingers to give that a thin coat and install; 3) Sealed bearings- NEVER try to lube a sealed bearing. Most have seals which deteoriate when exposed to foreign lubes or degreasers; 4) Cables- apply a thin layer of white lithium grease on exposed cables. Do NOT lubricate inside housings... most have a teflon or delrin sleeve which will soften and get sticky if exposed to lube. Best option is to use stainless cables and forget lubing the cables altogether; 5) seat post, handlebar stem to steerer- if METAL, use white lithium grease inside the seat tube before installing seat post, or when installing stem in (or on) the fork steerer. If carbon/carbon or carbon/metal use the specially prepared assembly grease. Um, how can you open a bike shop kinda thing without good knowledge of bike repair? Lubricants are a FUNDAMENTAL part of repairs and it scares me a little that you want to work on other peoples bikes and put them at risk without knowing your stuff. I assume you mean the headset when you refer to the handlebars. Another fundamental part of bicycle repair is that you know what the parts are called and how they might differ between bikes. I strongly suggest that you spend some quality time with your bike and maybe some $10 junkers found at yard sales to practice on before you get yourself into trouble.
- Q:About eight months ago, my girlfriend's front wheel bearings/hubs on her 1998 Chevrolet Malibu started making grinding noises. The mechanic said that it was the front hubs, so I had them replaced with aftermarket (read: cheap) ones and the noise was gone. A dealer OEM replacement and repair would have run me $650, but the aftermarket pieces only ran me $80/each, and labor was about $150 (iI think). Eight months later, or about last week, the hubs are grinding again.I am in Minnesota, so I was thinking that maybe it's partly due to the weather and the road conditions, but eight months, even for an aftermarket hub, just seems a bit ridiculous. If it were up to me, I'd sell the car and get another one, but it's my girlfriend's car, so it stays (and I'll wait for the repairs to keep piling up).The hubs took about 9,000 miles before going bad.
- This is a common problem for all GM vehicles and you CANNOT use aftermarket wheel hub bearings they just wont last.
- Q:Road bike. Mostly used on roads but occasionally used on loose rock roads.
- You can go a very long time without touching the bearings. If you have sealed bearings they will last years. I remove the wheel and turn the axle with my fingers. If they feel rough its time to clean and repack. Sealed bearings last longer you just replace them.
- Q:Please be specific like bearings brand and type
- The very best are Bones Swiss Ceramics which cost around ?129 in the UK. These bearings are the bearings of choice by most pro's because of their reliability and speed. They come with a lifetime guarantee so although they seem expensive in the short term, they will pay for themselves in the long term. There is a whole range of Bones bearings, and they are all very good but to clarify the very BEST bearings available in the world..... must be Bones Swiss Ceramics! The Ceramic balls make rusting not an issue, which can be with most other bearings. The ceramic ball bearings also self clean; they are much stronger than any dust and dirt that might get inside and will actually grind any unwanted dirt to nothing. Bones suggest using their Speed Cream to re-lubricate the bearings to aid in their performance, this is the same lubrication that they come pre-lubricated with before they get packaged ready for distribution.
- Q:i have bearing that i want to use for my skates and i don't know if they will fit
- Yup, you sure can.
- Q:No stupid answers please. Im an ASE master mechanic and I'm looking to hear from experienced off roaders. I'm new to offroading. I'm driving an F250 460 Bigblock 4x4. I know my u joints breaking are normal but am I to expect the same from my tie rods and front manual locking hub wheel bearings once a month if not once a week (I stay up on my alignments). I just bounced my truck three times straight sideways (that's when I really felt the wheel bearings and tie rods go out) so I know I'm very abusive but they are...well were brand new. Is there something I should do as far as suspension or aftermarket parts. I've been doing my homework but any suggestions would help. Rear axle is 30 years old and still kicking major *!*, front end not so much. I do a lot of jumping and climbing. Any suggestions would help. I have an IFS dana 44 front axle. I don't really think of a center pivot axle as IFS and I always thought it looked crappy for offroading. Could it be I need a solid axle?
- What size tires are you running? The number one rule of off roading is to drive as slow as possible but as fast as necessary. I am a avid off roader and have over 1500 trail miles with my Land Rover and over 500 miles with a Mitsubishi that I had and have never once broken anything. So my first suggestion is to slow down, if you insist on not treading lightly and ruining it for the rest of us then bigger tiers aired down will provide a softer landing. But seriously, please Tread Lightly, they are closing trails left and right here in MI because people are abusing them and ruining the joys of off roading for the rest of us. We pack the cooler and dog and take the kids out all the time, they love it as much as we do. Until you get the ssholes in the big super moded trucks doing 50mph down the trails pretending that they are in the Baja 1000 with mud and dirt and endangered flowers flying everywhere. It should be legal to shoot these people.
- Q:what is the typical repair cost for front wheel bearings in a 1990 toyota 4runner?
- front wheel bearings? disc brakes? rotor replacement and new bearings (don't forget to pack the bearings w/ GREASE!) cost me almost 100 bux (for the parts)and a 12 pack for my buddy to do the work.. for both front wheel bearings/rotors..
- Q:trying to figure out what type of bearing could be used in a pulley system with dynamic loads exceeding 1150 lb and 540 lb.
- Ball bearings manufacturers give detailed procedure on how to calculate and arrive to the proper selection. I advise to contact them and obtain their catalogues.
- Q:which skateboard bearings are the best?under the conditions of durability and overall performance, which ones have you used that you think are the best?
- REDS really fast and long lasting
