- Q: I'm gonna buy a FKD Sawblade ABEC 7 bearings sometime and I'm just curious.
- Pretty much nothing. It is a measure of precision for high speed machinery where vibrating shafts are a problem. Way higher speeds than wheels on skate boards or inline skates. In some cases, higer abec ratings can cause extra drag in the bearings because of the smaller gaps inside the bearing. Some companies (Zero Drag, Bones, Twin Cam) have designed their best bearings to have lower drag by not meeting even the ABEC 1 standard but with the tolerances close in the areas needed to make them run true in your wheels.
- Q: i have a redline random 2011 and it has loose ball bearings in the hub what i woulkd like to know is what size or what upgrade i could put in it...
- They are probably 1/4 or 5/32 diameter balls, but the rest of your question leaves me wondering. The hubs that your bike has are quite OK for the grade of bike you have, and just replacing the bearings will have no effect- or if anything a negative effect- on the operation of the hub. Keep in mind that the bearings run on cups pressed into the hub and on cones that are threaded onto the axle, so replacing bearings on a new bike without upgrading these items is useless. By the way, my guess is that the cups and cones can't be upgraded. I suggest that you leave what seems to be a brand new bike alone and stop trying to improve on something that doesn't need it. If you have some problems, see you dealer and explain it to them- chances are any adjustments will be free (or cheap).
- Q: I have a 100 dollar budget on either trucks bearings or wheels. I have been riding my long board for a while but I dont really know to much on how most of the parts work. I want my longboard to go faster and stay fast for a while without slowing down. Should I buy new bearings or trucks. I have a sector 9 bob marley pintail longboard with bone reds trucks. If I buy knew bearings or trucks do I have to buy new wheels as well. But If I had to pick either buying new bearings or new trucks which one would be best for my longboard. thanks
- If you have $100 you can seriously buy both. But if you are looking for longer roll time, bearings are what you need. NEVER SPEND A LOT OF BEARINGS!!! Bearings should never cost more than $15. If you get a good set of bearings and keep them cleaned and lubed when needed, there will be no difference between $100 bearings and $10 bearings. I recommend MileHighSkate or Magic bearings if you can get them. They are high quality and $9. If not, Bone Reds are easy to find, but arent as nice and cost $15. I also HIGHLY recommend you get bearing spacers. They are $5 and go inside your bearings and allow you to tighten your wheels all the way, giving you a smoother ride. You should also have speed rings too (those 8 rings that come with your current trucks). Trucks will not help you go faster.
- Q: i just bought vapor XR3 inline hockey skates, and the bearings slow down the wheels more than i would like, so i was wondering which of these is smoother with less friction. keep in mind that the shop that i am going to has all ABEC rated labedas + swiss lite, and only up to ABEC 9 for bevo.
- I've never used faster or better than a Boss Swiss ABEC 5, just make sure whatever you choose fits your skate frame - micro bearings aren't compatible with all chassis. Higher abec ratings wear out quickly due to corrosion/rust when exposed to asphalt.
- Q: I am just putting in new wheel bearings on a utility trailer. I have packed them well with wheel bearing grease, installed new seals and installed it all on the hub. How tight should I put the star nut on? It seems as if one opening for the cotter pin is loose and the next one is quite tight.
- That star nut your talking about can be removed from the nut...And is adjustable to fit in the right location. Hand tight While spinning the tire works best for your bearings...
- Q: i need cranlkshaft bearings for my 1985 kx 125
- either try OKorder or some vary rare places in california make OEM part that date back a little bit so you might want to check dirt bike magazine. But that may take some time.
- Q: I was just wondering if getting ball bearings for the Traxxas Rustler is a good idea and if it would save batteries. I have a Traxxas Slash (which has ball bearings) and it lasts longer with the batteries
- ok the rustler should come with ball bearings and if not then of course but if i were you stay with the regular nylon shielded ball bearings cause they mite try to sell you something that you dont need and always remember to support your local hobby shop so you should try they dont have much up on their web site but they have a huge selection in house so just give them a call and they will send it to you for cheep!!!
- Q: I have a Merida sub-20 bike. can i use sealed units? if so, what size should i use?I want to change to sealed bearings to make it easier to replace/fix. many thanks
- You will have to buy a new headset with sealed bearings if you want to do this. However, if your current headset is in good shape, simply servicing it will keep it in good shape for years.
- Q: I have been cleaning my bearing about every two weeks. I have been using plain tap water, and a Q-tip. How often do you clean yours, and what do you use?
- How To Clean Skateboard Bearings
- Q: i got bones but im not sure there the best so anyone know anything better tell me
- Bones are pretty good. You might want to look at what your favorite skateboarder uses. Reflex and ninja bearings are also pretty good.
