Q:I am a Roller derby girl and so I am NOT interested in the type of bearings that are for in-line skate! Please tell me how I can tell if the bearings are good for speed or not!
I use Bones Swiss bearings and they have been very responsive and have made a big difference. If you want to know how fast a bearing is most have abec ratings, nine being the highest. However, as Bones Swiss are of better quality and faster than most bearings, they have omitted the abec rating. I highly reccommend the Bones Swiss bearings and if you want to get better than those, you get the ceramics. They are much more expensive though.
Q:A friend of mine had his Nissan repaired recently. He had the timing chain and water pump replaced. A week later, the car dies. He returns to the shop that fixed it. They say his ball bearings are pretty much gone and that he needs a new engine. When he asked what could have caused this, they say that somewhere along the line a previous shop put the wrong trans fluid in his car and that that is the cause of this whole thing. Is this possible?
whoever changed the timing chain didnt do it right and it skipped a tooth and destroyed your engine. (think bicycle chain coming off the bike, while standing on the pedals) i would have yr friend take it to a shop, not say anything about previous maitinence and see what the new shop says.
Q:are swingarm bearing and linkage bearings the same or do u have to buy 2 different kits

Q:hi my kawasaki kx85 needs new bearings so.... i removed the rear tire and got to the bearings and i have pulled, pushed, hit, slammed, and so on and cant get tnem out.. any ideas??? thanks!
This Site Might Help You. RE: how can i remove my wheel bearings with out a wheel bearing remover on my kawasaki motorcycle? hi my kawasaki kx85 needs new bearings so.... i removed the rear tire and got to the bearings and i have pulled, pushed, hit, slammed, and so on and cant get tnem out.. any ideas?? thanks!
Q:My front driver's side wheel bearings need replaced. The current wheel bearings are open (visible when the hub is removed). When I look for replacement parts, OES and otherwise, the bearings offered are enclosed/canister style. This looks like it won't mate up properly with the existing hub. The auto parts store suggested removing the ring from the hub to make the new bearings fit. I'm concerned that doing so will irreparably damage the hub. To complicate things even more, it looks like the only style of hub available- OES included- are the type that work with the open bearings. Suggestions? Anyone ever had to modify a wheel hub? Advice is appreciated.
This is the correct bearing. Its called a unit bearing and must be pressed in with a hydraulic press. Most front wheel drive cars use this set -up. A little tip: If the driver side is bad it likely the passenger soon to follow ,have them both done at the same time. To save some money remove the hubs from the car yourself.Take them to a shop have the bearings pressed. They should only charge about 35.00 each.
Q:When I turn the wheel (to go around corners) there is a grinding sound from both front wheels... I'm guessing this is wheel bearings...? Can they be repacked or do they need to be replaced. I see new wheel bearings for my truck on Advance Auto for cheap ($13) but I don't know if it is a big job or not.
$13 for wheel bearings? That's pretty dang cheap. I'd just replace them. Plus, most bearings are sealed these days anyway, so repacking probably isn't possible.
Q:i have rush abec 3 bearings, and i cant DROP IN on the mini ramp, i have to push in the middle because if i drop in my board will go over the coping, im wondering what bearings are good to go fast enough but slow enough to where i can control it when i drop in
???
Q:what is the advantage and disadvantage of water-lubricated bearings?
The main advantage of a water cooled bearing is you can use the a portion of the water from the pump discharge to lube the bearings. That way you can always be assured of the lubricating fluid supply and do not have to relay on another pump. Some pumps do use another source, especially if the water being pumped is dirty, but it is still cheap and non-contaminating if some leaks into the pumped fluid. However, water is not always a good lube especially on pumps with high speeds and/or mechanical loads. Water is not very viscous and becomes less so with increased temperature. Even small 3600 rpm pumps will use oil for lubrication. Some large, high pressure pumps will have their own oil pumping and cooling system for the bearings.
Q:We took our 1996 ford aerostar van into the mechanic the other day and he said it needs new wheel bearings on the front left tire and something like the axle assembly done, he said the housing was cracked right open on both sides and they need to be replaced and he said all up it would cost $1200, seems like alot of money, I know its not a great explanation but if you no wat parts im talking about, do you think this price is right? Thanks
The hub has bearings in it. If the bearing started to go bad and you keep driving on it. That in turn will damage the axle shaft. You have to replaced the front hub which come with new bearings, axle, axle seal, ect. Parts can be had for about 300 on the net. But taking it somewhere for about 1200 sound about right. If your mechanically inclined you could fix it yourself. Spending 1200 bucks on that van does not make sense to me.
Q:I have a CR80, when i sit on the bike somtimes i will hear a cracking noise. If i put the bike on a stand (with back wheel off the ground) I can move the swingarm up and down without the shock moving. So my final guess would be shot bearings?? So is this, Linkage, are swingarm bearings? Its a 2000 model and is changing these bearing hard, Im a beginner by the way. Thanks!
