Q: I have been told that the lower the rating the better and vice versa. I've finally had the brilliant idea to ask the question on the almost all knowing internet. Your advice would be appreciated and considered. thanks!
its the higher the better
Q: when im parked on a flat surface my tires sit perfectly straight and look completely normal, then when i park on a small incline the tires and wheels spread t outward really bad, it turns and drives fine, it has 35 inch tires and 16.5 wheels and ive heard 4wd can cause it to do that but if anyone can give me some info thatd be AMAZING..lol-thanks
Could be wheel bearings, upper or lower ball joints... Either have an alignment shop check, or jack it up and check all of them yourself....
Q: 1973 buick centurion. posi rear.
given the fact that the bearings are 35 years old and should have a good amount of mileage, i would. you are going to have the rear end apart for this any way. save your self the time and money for a second tear down. if the bearings were replaced prior to this, hmmm, i would still save face and replace them. it seams like any time you disturb one part to replace another, that first will start to act up.
Q: I refer to the overhung impeller pump. They normally have two bearings supporting the shaft, (and an oil box between the bearings). Why is that? why not only one bearing? what would happen if they are manufactured with one bearing only?
You could do that but you would have to rely on the bearings of the driver to help support the load. You would also have to be sure one of the two bearings could take an axial thrust load. As you may know there are vertical inline pumps that do just that.
Q: i have two different sets of bearings but some of them are messed up so i was wondering if i can put mix them up and put them in my board
Yeah okorder
Q: How do i change the wheel bearings on a four-wheel drive 96 jeep grand cherokee?
pull the wheels first, then you will have to remove the caps on the axles ( front ones ) , there is a tool to remove the nut that holds the wheel bearings in place , you have to remove that, the brake calipers and rotors will have to come off too, the rotor has the wheel bearings inside of it, the outter and inner, , use new bearings -they usually are under 30 bucks for the front bearings, and about the same for the rear bearings, the rear bearings are on the drive axle, so you will have to pull the axles to have the rear bearings removed, and they are pressed on, so you will need to take them to a shop with a press for r/r of the wheel bearings
Q: is it cheaper to fix it or replace?
It depends on what type of platform pedal it is. If they are the basic plastic type, the bearings in the pedal are sealed - When they've worn out (when that happened to my bike pedals they were probably a bit rusty?), it's time for a new set of pedals. If they are the slightly more expensive (usually alloy) pedals, the bearings are not sealed - so they are able to be replaced and therefore the pedals have a much longer life-span. If you do need new pedals, it would be worthwhile upgrading to the pedal type meantioned above, because at least those bearings can be maintained regreased when required. Though if in doubt, ask your local bicycle mechanic. Prices - it depends on what part of the world you live, others here might be a more in the know. A quick look in your local bike or even sports shop would be a good idea.
Q: people always say there bearings make them go faster but i dont think this is true. in my experience its more the wheel you ride that affects speed. size hardness are both factors but bearings just dont make a significant difference. as long as they spin freely and smooth it doesnt matter whether there swiss ceramics or abec 3 because the extra friction in the threes isnt enough to slow you down. unless the threes are rusted and dont spin. is this true? would others agree? ppeople seem to think the bearings have engines or something. i just use 18 dollar redz and keep them in good shape and they work fine
well bearings do make a difference but it will go faster with lube other wise its still fast and effects the over all speed
Q: So my wheels used to spinn for 1 minute and a half...now if only spinns for 20-30 sec due to the rust...is it worth switching to bones reds? Will it make them spin for more than 20-30 sec?Thank You
Yes it will make them go faster and longer provided you don't let them rust again and grease the once in a wile. Bone Red Swiss are good but generally all Bone Reds are good.
Q: i am greasing the bearings on my used boat trailer for the first time.Never done it before any suggestions. Its a single axle jon boat trailer
The best way I have found is to remove the dust covers and replace them with Bearing Buddy's. These are caps with grease fittings built into them. You then grease the bearings with Marine Grade grease until the plate on the Bearing Buddy reaches the end of its travel( the directions are real easy) and you are done without opening the bearings to the outside world(dirt).
