- Q:I have seen two different types of spacers and can;t seem to find much on the net about the differences between them. One type just goes in between the two bearings and the other type has a smaller end that goes into each bearing. My question is simply whats the difference between the two and whats better? (Inline skate/hockey/general question)
- The difference is the axle diameter that they are for. If you measure the bearing, the opening is 8mm (5/16) Better skates come with 8mm axles and cheaper ones with 6mm axles (1/4) Since 8mm axles fit the inside of the bearings the spacers just take up the space on the axle between them. The spacers for 6mm axles have to have the small ends extending into the bearings to make up for the gap between the axle and the bearing.
- Q:i just purchased a boat with a tandem axel trailor. the left rear tire on the way home after about an hour on the road heated up to the point grease was oozing out all over the rim and the hub was to hot to even touch. i tore the bearings out today and was wondering if it was indeed the bearings causing this to heat up or if there is something else i need to do and if it was the bearings what i need to do and how i need yo pack the bearings back in and get this to end the problems. the trailor has trailor brakes but i do not have the trailor hook up in my truck could this have caused this and if so how i could disable the trailor brakes to keep them from catching. thank you for all help
- If the heat was caused by the bearings, they should be slightly discolored. On my tandem axle car hauler, I installed grease caps with zerk fittings on them. Before each long trip, I get out the grease gun and give each about 15 pumps. Since yours gets exposed to water, I would pull all and repack, looking for signs of corrosion, pitting or rust, and discoloration. Replace as necessary with new seals. Get the greasable caps.

- Q:okay so i just wanted to know where i could get the bearing cage retainer( holds the bb's ) i came across a site but i want to find something thats cheaper in price but still last a good or long amount of time, and also they have the bb's but they dont say how much come with the purchase and dont know which brand is good.so if you know anything about which is a good brand please help me out.i want ones that spin good and good cage retainers.please give me the sites if you know any or where i can get them.oh and for skateboards just in case anyone missed that the first time.and dont write me saying just purchase them at a skate shop.i already have bearings in my tool box that need to be cleaned i just want to get some cage retainers and the right sized bb's.thanks.

- Q:This may seem like a stupid question as I am just learning to skateboard.I bought a brand new complete board with abec 5 bearings and they seem quite stiff. Am I suppose to oil them before I ride or do they eventually loosen up as I ride? Also I took the riser pads off because I heard it makes it easier to learn to ollie, will this help me? I have 51mm wheels so I dont think they will rub against the board.Thanks for your help.

- I've never heard of wheel barrens except for my son in-law's terrible Long Island English who might pronounce bearings as barrens. Every one else is correct it's wheel bearings.
- Q:The bearings in the back rim of my 26in bicycle busted while I was riding, throwing my from my bike(ouch). How much would it cost to buy new ones ( it's just on one side, the other is fine ) and have it put in?
- Well, there are no bearings in the rim, if you are referring to the hub, there is probably other significant damage. Just to get the few bearings that go in there would cost about 5 dollars, but to have your hub rebuilt and adjusted will cost about 25 dollars at a bike shop. You need to bring it to a bike shop, because I have no idea what exactly is wrong.
- Q:I'm stuck right now can anybody figure this out ?A ship is 31 miles west and 9 miles south of a harbor. What bearing should the captain set to sail directly to harbor ?The answer is N 73.8° E. I just dont know how to get there ...Any help is greatly appreciated !!

- If you see they stop after 2sec then your bearings needs to be changed as soon as possible but if they are slower you should clean them up with gasoline or lubricant I think that good skate board bearings will last maybe 8 or 9 month if you take care of them properly means cleaning them at least every two weeks.
