Q: I'm thinking about buying an 87 Fiero for $650 but it needs rod bearings... I wanna know if it's worth it to buy it.
Engine would have to come out of the car to replace rod bearings so there would be a fair amount of labor involved in just getting the engine out. Its also unlikely that just the rod bearings are bad, usually if the rod bearings are bad so are the rod journals on the crank and then you have to wonder about the rest of the engine. If you like the car otherwise I would figure on getting a rebuilt engine. Price out a rebuilt engine and then the cost to install it and use that number to decide if you are going to buy the car. If you do get the car take it to a shop and have em pull the motor and have a look at it. If its worth fixing have em fix it if not you are not out anything extra since you would have had to remove the old one to install the rebuilt one anyway.
Q: I really need a new skateboard. I've been using this crappy one from walmart for months and really need a good new one for under 90$ at the most. (including bone swiss bearings) thanks!
A okorder . Keep in mind that if you go with the pro set, after your deck breaks you only need to spend 60 on a new one since you can save the trucks wheels and bearings.
Q: i wasn't to sure how to tell. i didn't think that it mattered but i guess it does. i figured that out when i bought bearings and wheels and they didn't fit inside the wheels. can you please tell me how to tell what kind of bearings i need in this type of situation?
All legit skateboard wheels have the same size space for bearings - ie they take the same bearings as each other. I think you are experiencing problems because the bearings need to fit very tightly into the wheels so that they don't come out under the huge forces skateboarding exerts So the good news is that you don't need to get anything new. To fit bearings, take one of the wheels off of one of your trucks. Put the bearing down over the axle, put the wheel over the top, and push down HARD (use bodyweight) until it pops into place. Take the wheel off, put the other bearing on the axle, turn the wheel round and repeat so the wheel has 2 bearings on it. It should fit flush into the space. To make sure (or to push it in that bit more) put the wheel on, and tighten the nut on the truck down onto the wheel until the bearings fit snugly. (just don't over-do it or you will wreck the bearings) Alternatively you can buy a tool to push the bearings in, or ask a skate shop to do it for you - but the method above should work easily
Q: Which one is the better of the two? im looking mostly for speed and for them to be waterproof
you shouldn't be riding in the water and that will ruin all bearings and make them rust. The Bones are faster but if you are going to ruin 100+ $$$ bearings just get Sector 9 greaseball bearings.
Q: i blew out the front bearings and was wondering if anyother bearings would fit like the klx110 i know the stock honda wont fit and i dont want to have them ordered.
All bearings are made in standard sizes. Take your old bearings to an industrial supply that has bearings and they can be matched with something they have on hand. Typically there are some numbers on the bearing that they use find the replacement bearings.
Q: i have a 2003 suzuki ozark 250, and the front wheel bearings are shot. I have the bearings, but before i start, i would like to have an idea of what im doing. Is it anything like replacing wheel bearings on a car? If so, just say its like that and i should be good to go. i've looked all over the internet for instructions, but i cannot find any. Ive changed car wheel bearings before, so if its anything like that, then say so. If not, post a link or description on how to do it. thanks
is almost the same, the only diff is how the wheel is opened up,,, i believe they seal the bearings so you will haft to press them out i think,, if not then then its the same,,, ive only came across 2 types of 4wheelers that had to do that,, they were polarius models that floated on the water,,, now lookin at yours its the same as a car,,, after removing the wheel you take off the spindle ( for a car its called a rotor) then pick out the bearing clean out the grease add new grease, and pack the bearings with grease befor you put it in,, the more grease the better lol
Q: this guy told me to do that..and i didnt get it
how to broke in your bearings..another term is to season your bearings.. simplest way is to bomb some hills a few times.or just skate everyday ...this saves a lot of time..the reason you must do this is cos when a new bearing you buy from the local sk8 shop..they roll fast but still not fast enuff..these bearings are machine finished and only quality tested..they are not run in for endurance test..hence they may have some ruff edge even tho they roll smooth on the naked eye.. :D
Q: so how often should i? and what cream do u use? im planning on getting the lube at my local skate shop... do u think they wood have it or is it not a skate lube?i herd u can put them in gasoline overnight, does that work?im open to any and all suggestions
Only need to be cleaned when needed--slow or noisy or if you skate in water. Clean in denatured alcohol. Lubricant is not a cleaner. Don't use WD-40 or Gasoline. Both leave a film that attracts dirt and gasoline is dangerous. Use 1-2 drops of lube per bearing. rubber shielded and metal shielded with c clip bearings can be cleaned. Crimp on shields can't be removed. If you see prongs sticking up around the shield, they are crimp type. They have to be replaced.
Q: I have been cleaning my bearing about every two weeks. I have been using plain tap water, and a Q-tip. How often do you clean yours, and what do you use?
I okorder /
Q: So my wheels used to spinn for 1 minute and a half...now if only spinns for 20-30 sec due to the rust...is it worth switching to bones reds? Will it make them spin for more than 20-30 sec?Thank You
Yes it will make them go faster and longer provided you don't let them rust again and grease the once in a wile. Bone Red Swiss are good but generally all Bone Reds are good.
