- Q:So i recently got a new engine and tranny for my 1992 honda accord. (engine swap h22a) runs great. but i noticed it makes a loud humming noise after i release my foot off the pedal. This happened i THINK before i got the engine swap too. but that was like 2 years ago so i dont really remember. it was sitting in my driveway for about 2 years. my new mechanic says its the wheel bearings. The engine and tranny r fine and run and shift well but even if im going 30, or 70, when i take my foot off the pedal it goes....huummmmmm, going down. Humming decreasing. He heard it and said the front wheel bearings need to be replaced. What do you think? thanks.
- That is very correct its the wheel bearings
- Q:about 2 weeks ago, i got a new longboard, a sector 9 player. I ride it around almost everyday. I noticed that the bearings are turning black. Does this mean i need to clean them? Also, they are abec 5 bearings. I want my longboard to ride fast and a long distance without having to push so much. Should i replace them with better ones? i heard bone reds r good.
- clean them every 2 weeks! Just oil them up with silocen spray (works for me) Churr
- Q:How do you CHANGE WHEEL BEARINGS on a Suzuki Quad? I can see the outside one (there are two per side) but I am not sure how to remove and reinstall them. Are there special tools needed? What are the steps?THANKS!
- Always okorder / Go to - Tools - Pullers - Bearing Remover Sets
- Q:I have a sector 9 Cosmic 2 board and one of the bearings messed up. i need to buy spare bearings. i can't find longboard bearings while skateboard bearings r easy to find. r they the same? and whats a good place to buy beartings
- yes they use the same type of bearings and you can find them from your local skate shop or you can try fixing the broken bearing by cleaning it. what i do i put wd-40 and let it run through so all the dirt comes out and they once all the dirt is out you spin the bearing until the wd-40 drys out and then you put speed cream in it. but if you buy new bearings get bones reds.
- Q:im trying to open like a bike shop kinda thing, and i was wondering if like any kind of grease or lube will work for bike bearings and the handlebars.? help?
- To answer your question, here is a basic list of lubes for bikes... 1) Chains and external drivetrain parts, brake levers, shifters- light machine oil (NOT motor oil) or appropriate silicone or parrafin based lube depending on riding conditions; 2) Bearings (roller): if exposed to the elements (like the top of a cable detangler), use silicone based oils or something that is easily washed out and replaced. If protected (like hubs), use white lithium grease. NEVER pack the areas full of grease... once clean, wipe in a thin layer of lube on the cups and cones, then roll each bearing around your fingers to give that a thin coat and install; 3) Sealed bearings- NEVER try to lube a sealed bearing. Most have seals which deteoriate when exposed to foreign lubes or degreasers; 4) Cables- apply a thin layer of white lithium grease on exposed cables. Do NOT lubricate inside housings... most have a teflon or delrin sleeve which will soften and get sticky if exposed to lube. Best option is to use stainless cables and forget lubing the cables altogether; 5) seat post, handlebar stem to steerer- if METAL, use white lithium grease inside the seat tube before installing seat post, or when installing stem in (or on) the fork steerer. If carbon/carbon or carbon/metal use the specially prepared assembly grease. Um, how can you open a bike shop kinda thing without good knowledge of bike repair? Lubricants are a FUNDAMENTAL part of repairs and it scares me a little that you want to work on other peoples bikes and put them at risk without knowing your stuff. I assume you mean the headset when you refer to the handlebars. Another fundamental part of bicycle repair is that you know what the parts are called and how they might differ between bikes. I strongly suggest that you spend some quality time with your bike and maybe some $10 junkers found at yard sales to practice on before you get yourself into trouble.
- Q:i heard about bones but are there any others?
- bones swiss bones reds black panthers swiss fire pig swiss i had good luck with these
- Q:two of my bearings are slightly dented. What can I do? I just bought new bearings and I had to change them because I bought new wheels. :?
- If your bearings are dented, there is nothing that can be done about it. Either suffer with the wiggling until the bearings fail, or replace them.
- Q:I heard that gas makes skateboard bearings go fast and go a long time. Can you do it with sealed bike bearings? If so, how long should it soak?
- I fail to see how gasoline would make the bearings have less friction. Sealed bearings are just that, sealed and as such would not be effected by a soaking in gas. Go visit a store that only specializes in bearings for cars, trucks etc. and chat up a fellow at the parts counter for some info. about bearings and perhaps you'll be a bit better informed on the choices available to you in your quest for more speed from your board.
- Q:are reflex rob dyrdek bearings any good? if not what kind?
- Bones are by far the best. They have bearings made just for skateboards. Any of their bearings are good and make ones that exceed abec 7. Bones Reds are always beast because they are the best for the price.
- Q:i was putting a new tire on my gt dyno when it got really hard to pedal i ve smashed them before but it was my Friends bike! and was wondering if i should get the newest bearings?
- Which bearings? There are at least 8 not including the pedals. How did you smash them while changing a tire? This is mind boggling.
