- Get yourself a Panasonic BD-60 for around $150. It is the best entry level blu ray disc player in the market today. HDMI cable is the only cable capable of the 1080P and the 7.1 surround sound. It really does not make a difference with HDMI cable you get. The more expensive one are made of better material than the cheap one of course. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on blu ray disc player and what ever else you might be interested in. Hope this will help you out.
- Q: I recently worked on a early 2000 Smoker Craft 24 foot pontoon. It has a 40 horsepower mercury outboard motor. I got it working as it's been sitting for a couple years. - I'm guessing one remote controls the TV (for volume and input), the other the cable box (for channels). If the cable box's remote is capable of controlling the TV, you can find its instructions and train it to respond to the TV's power, volume, and input buttons. Different remotes have different ways of being trained, so I can't help you with specifics. If your cable box's remote can't be trained, I'd look for a universal remote that can control the TV and cable box. You don't necessarily have to buy the one with all of the gadgets, but you do need to find one that can be trained to talk to your TV and cable box without having to reach for them to access all but the most obscure commands. It's highly unlikely your TV's remote can control anything more than the TV it came with.

- You need to install a variable frequency speed controller and control that by whatever means you can usually 0-10vdc. but you require to run cables. Or do you wish to simply start/stop it? This can be achieved via a plc interface, but OTT for one motor. Multiplexes can control many units with just 2 wire highway, but not economical for one unit. You are probably cheaper running remote control cables for start/stop buttons.

- Q: Comcast is making me 'upgrade' from analog to digital cable service. I received the boxes and set them up today. The only problem I have is getting my VHS to record shows correctly. As of now, I can only record the channel that my new 'tuner box' is tuned to. In the past I was able to record one channel, and watch another, or record two different shows on two different channels while I was out of town.I talked to the person at comcast, and they said I would need a DVR or something else to regain this functionality. There's nothing sacred about the VCR to me, I just need a way to record and watch!My question is what options do I have? I just want something I can record, and play back later with. I would prefer hard drive storage to DVD storage (I have enough VHS's stacked around!). I also don't want to rent or pay a monthly fee. Any suggestions, without my recording I'm lost!
- The bottom line is you need their box still, for it controls the channel changing (they are really basic cable boxes essentially). You need to pre-change the channel, or get a system which changes the channel on the box. Whatever recorder you get also needs an analog tuner, since those boxes provide only an analog RF out. To record one channel and watch another requires two boxes, one to watch direct, the other to to record from. For recorders, you can get a DVD recorder with a tuner, or a tunerless DVD recorder and a cable box with A/V out. A computer based DVR is also an option. You may prefer to get a standalone PC for that though, and a Windows bases one is probably best.
