Q:I literally just ordered a series 2 Tivo (the 80 hr. one for $99.99) from Tivo's website, and now, looking over the reviews for the very same one on Amazon, someone mentioned that the Dual Tuner feature will not work if one has digital cable, and that you need analog cable. Well, I have digital cable! So is this true, or . . . ? I'm really new to Tivo and DVRs in general (it kinda has my head spinning), so I'm really worried now that I spent a ton of money for nothing. . . . Please help!
The cable that comes into your house usually has both digital and analog service on it. You can split the signal and run the cable to your Tivo and the cable box. Then your Tivo will record only the analog channels (usually 2 through 99) and you'd use your cable box to watch all the channels. You'd hook up the Tivo to your rca type line in connectors on the TV and the coax cable from your cable box would go to the TV in on your tv. Or some cable boxes can be controlled by the Tivo. You can check the Tivo website to see. In that case you can run the cable box (after you split the signal) to the 2nd antenna input on the Tivo box and one of the tuners would record analog while one was recording the digital, if you were recording two shows on two different channels at the same time. Sounds complicated but it really isn't. There's a nice diagram included with the instructions.
Q:Could someone please help me! I got a new Comcast digital cable box today and I pressed something that erased all the codes programmed into the remote. I can't control my box now! Does anyone know the code?
try pushing the cable button on the top of the remote. If you actually need to program the remote, You need to say brand the box is.
Q:for my cable box from comcast. but i know comcast must have a million of these basic dvr boxes for use.
When you do the SlingSetUp it should ask you put in the model number of your cable box, and from this it should automatically get the correct remote control. It does not have to look exactly the same though, it will still work perfectly fine if the remote looks different. It is just to help you know how to use the remote easily, all basic functions should be the same though.
Q:I currently rent the upper level of a house that has Time Warner's All in One package (15Mbps RR, Extended Cable, and Digital Phone). The owner lives in the lower level and I am able to share all of the services, however they have a DVR installed on their HDTV downstairs. Time Warner will allow you to rent an additional DVR for about $7/mo, however the owner of the house refuses to let me pay her for the 2nd DVR for my part of the house!!I have looked into services like TIVO, as well as DVD burners and HD DVR's with digital tuners. The problem is that even with a digital tuner, Time Warner scrambles channels above 100 and uses a QAM tuner. They have made it so that you must rent their own equipment!I know the laws will be changing sometime in the future, but I need a solution now! The solution doesn't need to have HDTV, but it would be nice to have both options - I just need to be able to recieve record channels including those above 100Thanks!
Time Warner encrypts most of their digital channels, so it is required to have a cable box from them to unencrypt the channels above 100. There are no black market options available that can decrypt these channels. The makers of the set top boxes keep their encryption keys under lock and key and they are nearly impossible to crack. You could purchase a TV with a QAM tuner and a tivo, but this option would only allow you to receive unencrypted channels. Since only a few of the digital channels are unencrypted, this option would not solve your problem. There is a solution though. If you have a friend that is in the same cable market as you, you can rent a DVR from Time Warner under their name. The box will work in your apartment only if your willing friends cable is controlled by the same computer. This is where the encryption keys are stored and the box will only function on a RF feed from that computer. So make sure that you have the same cable provider. You will have the same services that your friend subscribes to and all VOD purchases that you make will appear on their bill. There will be no links to your landlords cable.
Q:I have a new TV and I am forced to use 2 remote controls? (One for Volume and the other for channels) Can anyone tell me how to sync one remote so I can change the channels and volume on just one remote? Thanks!
I'm guessing one remote controls the TV (for volume and input), the other the cable box (for channels). If the cable box's remote is capable of controlling the TV, you can find its instructions and train it to respond to the TV's power, volume, and input buttons. Different remotes have different ways of being trained, so I can't help you with specifics. If your cable box's remote can't be trained, I'd look for a universal remote that can control the TV and cable box. You don't necessarily have to buy the one with all of the gadgets, but you do need to find one that can be trained to talk to your TV and cable box without having to reach for them to access all but the most obscure commands. It's highly unlikely your TV's remote can control anything more than the TV it came with.
Q:Hi, I am getting a TIVO Series 2 for about $50. I have the following questions.1. Do I need to pay TIVO a fee for some sort of service? I can see the plans online.2.What service is it? I want to use it with Cox cable now, but very likely I would like to use it with over the air antenna.3. Do any of the TIVOs have digital tuners, for it to be used when DTV transmissions start?4. All I need to use it for, is to record a couple of hours of programs.Thanks.4.
It should cost you the same for the service as having a new TiVo. Yes, you need to pay a fee for the service unless that TiVo has a lifetime subscription fee attached to it. Cox Cable will work better than an over the air antenna. It might work, but I'm not entirely sure. You'll love TiVo. I couldn't live without it!
Q:I have a vw fiberglass buggy on a shortened pan I broke the passenger cable and i need to replace it.however the cable is shorter than a stock vw beetle so im asking if anyone has ideas on how to shorten the cable reliably? or could i just buy a shortened cable?
there used to be shortening kits, where you cut off the excess, and put a new end on, that has a set screw to hold fast to the braided cable. functions fine if the screw stays real tite. available now? dont know. the long time vw shops always have old stuff hangin around. if its worth there time to look. alt. an industrial supply can silver solder the end in place. alt. marine shops make up custom control cables all the time. expensive but bullet proof.
Q:75 square meters of cable diameter is the number (GB)
Bvvb300 / 500V is the number of square wires that are not marked above.
Q:I do not know whats wrong. My Cable remote is not alowing me to change the channel. I can go on the guide and select a chanel but when the name comes up on the bottom of the screen the picture stays the same. So i m stuck on the disney channel until i get this fixed so please help!!
In the meantime, you can change the channel manually on the cable box itself.
Q:I own a pair of Beats Mixr, and the original cable with control talk is already giving me trouble. So I went on OKorder and saw a replacement cable, but it's not authentic like the one that originally came with the headphones. Is there really any difference between the authentic and fake replacement cables? Or does all the sound quality come from the headphones themselves and the cable doesn't matter?
I don't know about cables, but do you still have your warranty with Monster? You can do that, or of you wanna save money and get some nice fake beats(: It's totally worth getting Fake beats! I own a pair of Purple Dr Dre Tours and I also own a Real pair of Ibeats. And they sound almost IDENTICAL just the fake ones have more bass and but lil less clear but like 5% less you won't tell a difference. You can get some from Dealicool and click on Earphones and microphone. I promise you won't be disappointed it, get the mOre expensive one the more expensive the better quality
