- It is honestly not something I would suggest, especially since the floor is also a light color. I am thinking that there is a good possibility that it will leave the room looking washed out. What I do suggest though is that if the couch is really a good deal, just repaint that one wall. Leave the rest the light brown and paint that wall behind the couch a darker or bolder color. It will add depth to the room and a bit of drama.

- Here is a solution get a used leather sofa. You won't be contributing too the death and suffering of other animals nor will you be buying a new product which will always hurt animals and the earth more nor will you be buying a fake product made out of harmful chemicals which will hurt everything. Plus it will appease your parents, they get there silly leather sofa and no animals are harmed to get it (aside from the ones harmed to make it in the first place which you have nothing to do with because they were killed a long time ago for someone else and you are just stopping it from being thrown out or destroyed which creates more harm) I don't much like leather either and would always try and stay away from leather but rather it come used then buying anything new. As the phrase goes: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle...sad that few people actually follow it and that the government uses it as a pretty veil for their destruction and waste.

- Our idea of cushions may be a little different but, I don't think I would go to the expensive of changing the cushions. I would add some pillows and/or maybe a throw or afghan to the sofa. You could mingle the colors to match the rest of the room. On a brown sofa you could also change the pillows to reflect the season changes. Such as now with the holidays approaching you could use various red and maybe gold pillows that would accent the sofa and bring in your other holiday decorations. Maybe add a holiday patterned quilt across the back of the sofa. Make the changes fun and exciting. At the end of the season store the accessories for next year and move on to another seasonal change. This is an inexpensive way to give your room a quick pick me up and change in appearance. And you can change on a whim if you keep your eyes open and pick up accessories when they go on sale.

- Take out the foam that's inside the cushion and take it to a foam sales place (look up foam in your phone book) Many places will cut it the exact size of your current sofa cushion. Look for something thicker or ask them for advice on one that won't deflate as much. There might be a better quality foam that you can buy that retains its loft better.
