Q:have you heard all of those terms?: I have heard all of those terms. We say couch or sofa in PA and NJ. My mom, who was from Ohio and West Virginia used to say Davenport. Q:I sold my sofa on a social networking site and got quite alot of interest. .someone came round to view it and was happy to leave a deposit..they came round again yesterday to help take it apart and we helped to deliver it and put it back together at their place, the money was exchanged and I left. Today I got a phone call complaining about the sofa saying there not happy with it saying its all worn and and want some money back! Do I have to refund them the money??: NO. They came and viewed the sofa. They came back and were pretty intimate with the sofa by way of taking it apart. Then, they handled it once again when they moved it and even another time when they put it back together. After which, they paid you. They were well familiar with what they bought for the price they paid. Their time to negotiate had passed once they agreed to buy it for the price you advertised for it or the price you agreed to sell it for. If they have buyer's remorse, then, well, that is their problem, not yours. You advertised an item for a price. They came and looked a the item bought it, picked it up and paid for it. Did you force them to do any of which? NO. DONE DEAL.

Q:I'm having this trouble with my 10 month old. She discovered a week ago that she can climb into the sofa. And I can not do anything else but to watch her. The second I turn around....she is up again. Should I remove the sofa from the family room? Where are we gon'na seat then? If that was the solution no house in the country would have a sofa by now..........what to do????: This is a new discovery for her. You need to encourage safe behavior. When she gets up there, you need to turn her around show her back touches the back of the sofa. When it is time to get down...you need to move her so that she knows to lay on her belly and let her feet down first. Yes it is scary as a new mom....you just have to show her how to do it safely until she gets it. I know you want to protect her from everything but really our job is to teach them how to look out for themselves. This is just the beginning. You can't remove everything that is dangerous out of her life...you need to teach her what to do about it.The only things I removed from my living room for the sake of my children were burning candles. Even knick-knacks should stay in their place so that you can teach her that they are not to touch. Believe me this will come in handy when you visit some one who has not baby proofed their house. Q:I am currently visiting Japan and am interested in a couple jobs on base and possibly staying here for a while if I can find a decent good paying job. My question: what is the most efficient means of getting a SOFA stamp to be able to apply for the jobs on base here...?Does anyone have experience with my situation?I am visiting my Japanese wife on my passport and have base access as I am now inactive military. One place (MWR) on base told me it would take 4-6 weeks after I turn in the paperwork to be sponsored by them to get a job.What other possibilities are there or jobs people know of that they need positions filled?Thank you all so much for your time and thoughts.: you must be hired first before they will sponsor you, and not all jobs qualify for SOFA status. Most SOFA sponsored Jobs are hired from outside via DoD contracts and are not local hires.

Q:will a green sofa go on white walls ?: Yes, of course, anything goes with white but white walls are so boring and stark. Why not paint it? You have lots of choices depending on the mood you want to create. For a warm feeling, try a shade of cinnamon or caramel or gold. For a cooler, more sophisticated look some shades of blue or aqua look great with green. Just be sure to pick up whatever color you choose in other accents around the room. Sometimes starting with a decorative pillow that looks great on your couch is the easiest way. Then choose a color from it to paint your walls with. If you do decide to keep the walls white, I would be sure to add black accents for some richness.

Q:Any suggestions on good sofa brands? I've only looked at La-Z-Boy...thinking of looking at Broyhill now.: They are great they hold up well .

Q:I bought a bright red IKEA fabric sofa. I want to make sure the color doesn't start to fade away. The fabric is a cover that i can remove and wash but i am afraid the color will start to fade. Any suggestions? How to keep the red bright.: Well while it is on your sofa get some scotch brite in the red can and spray it , it will protect it from stains and fading as well . My mother bought a red sofa 4 years ago and to this day it still looks new and she just always uses the scotch brite on it , and every so often she has to do it again but it is so worth it Also when you wash the cover always wash it in cold water with wool lite or a mild detergent , and dry it on the air dry setting , and it should keep its color .

You can choose a nice wall paper that accommodates both colors. Perhaps with a floral pattern. If you use paint than a bit lighter on your walls and a deeper shade in your carpet.
