- What Alan says is true. I have bought a good sofa at Salvation Army for $75. A sleeper sofa in fact ! If you can drive to a resort area where people have beach condos, you will find a lot of second hand shops and thrift stores. People who own beach rental condos tend to change out the interiors quite often and there are good deals to be had. Also ck Craigs List for your local. Just do a search. Now that said, I am putting a link to a lot of good online sources for new sofas. I ordered a baby blue leather sofa from one of them on the list and got great customer service. And a great price. Check the clearance tabs. And it never hurts to pick up the phone and call an online store and make an offer. They might bargain a bit. I did that for two antique armories from a seller on eBay and he accepted my offer immediately...I was shocked.

Let me go get the can and see what the name of it is. OK it is a Furniture Care Kit. It works on Fabric, Leather and wood. It has 4 different bottles inside along with sponges and clothes. It's made by Stainsafe and Leather Master out of Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33418. I am sure there are other type products on the market besides just this one. Be careful what you use on your sofa. - Q: I bought a used microfiber sofa and didn't notice until we got it home that it smells strongly of cologne. I called the pro's and had it cleaned but after everything was dry the scent is a little better but still there (I'm sensitive to smells). I have read about using vodka or vinegar but I don't want to ruin the upholstery. Any suggestions?

- Do you live near a field of some sort? Sounds like you're always going to have to have traps out to control the mice in your area. Get a cat, make sure it has a nice scratching post and train it to use it so it won't scratch your sofa.
- Q: The sofa was from a house that got flea infested last year but they don't have fleas now so I thought my cat wouldn't get fleas. To be sure, 3 days before I moved in the sofas, I gave my cat a dose of advantage ii. A day after the sofas were moved in, a fat flea jumped off my cat onto my hand, it was very much alive. Didn't think advantage ii was working so the vet gave me revolution. Dosed her with revolution, a week after that dose a tiny baby flea jumped off my cat onto me. I thought it was ok because it was a baby flea but I went ahead and vacuumed the whole house sprayed knockout spray by virbac.. 3 weeks passed then I dosed her with revolution again a week ago and today as I was cleaning out the litterbox, a fat flea jumped onto me then jumped off before I could kill it. Am I crazy to be using revolution? What should I use on my cat? She is still overgrooming and I want to get rid of these pests before it gets too bad. Thank you sorry for the long post!
- Get some medicated powder and pour it on the sofa, I have a feeling the sofa still has them, you also can buy some flea powder. Put it on the sofa Fleas are something you just have to keep trying to get rid of, their eggs hatch over and over again. Vacuum the heck out of it. Get some lemons and peel them, take the peelings and place in a container, boil water and put the (2 cups of hot water per lemon peeling) in the container and allow to sit for 24 hours, Then strain the lemon water. Place in a spray bottal and spray your couch and wash the cat down starting from the head to the tail. Lemon water kills fleas dead in seconds. They also protect the cat from any fleas that want to jump back on, they HATE lemon smell.

How can I 'stain' the piping to restore the color to the rest of the sofa? The piping of the leather is still in excellent condition, but the color has worn off.
- This is best left to a qualified leather technician as he will have the right products and finsihes to do a good job (especially on an enxpensive sofa). Piping is always a high wear area and liable to this sort of damage. Please do not try DIY products off the internet as these generally will not work on this type of damage and could make things more costly in the long run. Hope this helps
