Q:I have a small living room and have been trying to find suitable furniture that is not too overstuffed/big. The other issue is that the door is 30-31 inches wide and most furniture heights and depths are bigger than this. I have looked at Ikea's products and I'm considering the Karlstad loveseat or the new Sater sofa, which is a 2.5 seat leather sofa. Is Ikea furniture comfortable and durable. How good is the leather? How well does the furniture age? I don't want it looking shabby after a short while. Any other suggestions, and before you say it :), I already browse Craigslist, the local thrift store and Overstock, no luck yet. Suggestions welcome. Thanks
Here's a few links to sofas that don't cost a lot and have buyer ratings. I do believe you have to put them together so the door shouldn't be a problem. Good luck!
Q:A friend has offered me a sofa - can't take it with her on a move. It is only a year old and very nice. BUT, she has 6 dogs. And all the problems that come with that. They have had mites, fleas, I am sure they have probably peed on the sofa, etc. I am wondering if there is anything you can use on a leather sofa - either store bought or made-at-home that I can use to clean and disinfect the leather. Thanks.
Call a leather company or a store that sells leather furniture and explain your situation to them. They can give you probably good advise!
Q:What is the best type of sofa fabric to have on a sofa- leather, fabric, microfiber, micro suaed , ?
They all have their pros and cons. Leather can be wiped clean, but it is cold to sit on and can stick to bare skin if it is warm. Also, it is very hard to repair. Fabric can stain, but it can also be scotchguarded. If the sofa is slip covered, you can buy a new slipcover rather than a new sofa. Microfiber and Micro suede are basically the same fiber just finished a little different. It is stain resistant but can pill, particularly on cheaper sofas.
Q:they have a president sale (like everyone else) but they have a nice sofa and loveseat grey stone color for $597 in their ad. It is called the Redmond Microfiber living room. they describe it as covered in suede soft Microfiber Plush, in a sophisticated stone color, the Redmond is luxurious, yet durable this is my first purchase of furniture and it sounds like a good deal. what do you think. does anyone have reviews/comments about rooms to go furniture or about the sofa and love seat itself??
The price is right but the quality wont last. A decent couch alone runs around $1000-$1500 and that is on the low side. Save for a good set or purchase a neutral colored chair for this amount of money.
Q:So I have a sleeper sofa and I find myself trying to sleep on it, the mattress is only a few inches thick and not very comfortable. I was wondering if buying a regular queen mattress topper would work. Or any other ideas would be much appreciated
The biggest problem with convertibles is there is no support under the mattress. The mattress you have would actually be more comfortable on the floor. Toppers are nice and cushy but they don't add any support. Bottom line, Sofa's are really never nice to sleep on. Invest in a better base before buying a topper.
Q:I'm considering down-sizing my living area in the hopes of gaining more floor space and was thinking about doing away with my bed and chair and getting a sleeper sofa in their place.I've always slept on a bed with a box spring and mattress and was wondering if any one had any suggestions, experience, or opinions on the modern sleeper sofa. Are they comfortable? Can you get a good nights sleep on them? Are they durable and last as long as an ordinary bed? What is an affordable yet good quality one to get?I saw one online at Ashley's furniture called the Intermission. Anybody have an experience with that one?Just curious for now. Not sure if I want to go through with it or not .... I suppose it depends on the responses I get.Thanks.
Have you learnt the position in Caloocan the place you purchase those furnitures? Close fifth avenue, alongside the street of SANGANDAAN. Plenty of selections and its less expensive than going to places within the mall.
Q:Who tell me the origin of the name SHOGUN of the new sofa designed by Luca Nichetto in exclusive for Skitsch ?
In ancient Japan the “shogun” was a high-ranking military office, and this warrior figure’s armour, which was characteristically plain but cleverly designed to adapt itself to the wearer’s form in spite of its protective function, is what has inspired the sofa bearing the same name designed by Luca Nichetto. The essential structure of this modular 2- or 4-person sofa can be left bare or covered in leather or fabric, depending on the demands of the season. When left bare, the armrests enhance the comfort of sitting, as the couch’s inviting form almost seems to cradle the sitter. The upholstered version, in contrast, offers a further salute to the old-fashioned afghan-covered couch at grandma’s house. Shogun is accompanied by a pouf that can be either used as a bench or placed next to the sofa to create a daybed. www.skitsch.it
Q:Less than a yr ago i got a sofa sectional w- 2 recliners a sleeper. Less than a month after i bought it i had some friends spend the night the sleeper closed on them. Nobody got hurt thankfully. I then called Ashley Furniture the next morning complained. I did have a warranty insurance on the couch. I had to spend months complaining 3 mos later they send someone to look at it. It takes him another month to send a replacement sofa. I got the new sofa in so i felt it was safe i had my parents sleeping on the bed and it closed injured my 64 year old dad. (He has back problems anyhow). I felt it could have been the hard wood floors making it close up. So i got carpet installed under the sofa area. Well sure enough my best-friend was here sleeping over. It closed again injured my friends knee. I called told them all this asked if there was a recall on this sofa they said no. The model # is 8890397. I can't find the sofa on the website anymore. Where can i go to find out.
Don't be afraid to insist on speaking to the higher ups in the company. Do your research and find out who the owner and/or CEO is, and find out how to contact them directly. They don't want a lawsuit or big drama either. The little guy who answers the phone when you call customer service is not going to be very helpful. Be prepared to show sales receipts for the sofa, and copies of medical bills from the injuries. It doesn't require a lawsuit to get reimbursed for injuries. But it might take a while to convince them to that you really want this taken care of. My husband had a weird thing happen to his car, which was clearly due to a flaw in the design of the car. (He pulled in to a parking space, when he backed out his front bumper snagged on something and fell right off the car.) He wasn't injured, but it was an $800 repair. He had to really push for it, but they finally cooperated because $800 is much cheaper for them than a lawyer and bad publicity. Don't give up, just because the first person denied your claim
Q:Please answer because I'm thinking about purchasing at least one of these this week. I have green walls and hardwood floors and I'm going to put a 9x12 rug down.So tell me would it work or is it a no no?
Sorry but no. The contemporary and traditional do not compliment each other but instead fight each other for dominance. It's too confusing to look at. You will have to choose between the styles and I think that is where your problem is. The traditional sofa is nice and makes a bold statement and would also require other bold, curvy rounded and oversized traditional pieces to complete the room. The contemporary ones are also nice (just not my choice) but require more sleek modern pieces to complete the look of straight sleek lines. edit: strawberry thats a good question. you don't have to settle for the same ol boring matching sets just choose pieces that are in a complimentary color and in the same proportion as that sofa. Big and chunky or even a smaller scale would work as long as you still have those nice rounded curves. Tie them together with throws and pillows. For example if you have a brown sofa and a green loveseat, place green cushions on the sofa and brown on the loveseat and always throw in a third splash of color for added interest. Think in the lines of the furniture for accessories.
Q:we received a free sofa with dual recliners the other day. it is in great condition and the price was right. the only problem is a smell of urine. any secrets out there to eliminate this smell?
you can go to petsmart or any other pet store and get something. they have a great variety. most of that stuff should work great because it's got the right enzymes to break down the urine. the only problem you might have is if someone has already tried to get the smell out with the wrong products. then the smell might be locked in. but there is not only ONE product or brand name to buy, many will work if they got the enzymes. the last thing i bought wasurine gone or something. i really liked it because it had a great smell. whatever you use, make sure you soak the area that smell like urine really good and let it air dry. if you think it might just be topical you might use a spray bottle and soak it that way. but don't hesitate to use a lot! i deal with that a lot because of my 2 cats and 2 rats! good luck!
