- Q: Hey Iv just moved into a few flat and the sofa is VERY low, and the cushions are all squished in. I was wondering is there anything that cheap that I could do to even make the cushions firmer and higher? I cant afford to replace the sofa! :) xx
- You could raise the sofa by placing concrete blocks under all 4 corners. Then get some boards cover them in fabric or paint them or stain them place them like a skirt under the 3 sides of the sofa. You could even give it an industrial look by using metal sheets or gridwork. As for the cushions, you don't say if they're attached or loose. If they're loose, hopefully they're zippered. In which case you will go to a fabric store buy some dacron sheets wrap the cushions with the sheets using a spray glue so it doesn't shift. Use a dry cleaning bag over the cushion to get it to slide easily back into the cover. Using dacron will probably be a lot less expensive than buying new foam cores, but look into that also - just find an upholstery outlet in your area. You can also just put boards under your cushions, but that will just feel firm, not more comfortable. If your cushions are attached there isn't much you can do. You can always look for a sofa on craigslist, but just be sure that you disinfect it.

- Sofa beds come in different sizes. If it is a double size sofa, then a double mattress will fit. You will have to measure it to be sure.

- Here are two options for you: White vinegar sponged on to the area, Soda water ~ Shake the bubbles out and sponge. You would need to test the fabric first in a discreet place, to make sure either solution didn't fade the colour. Shouldn't do. I have used these for getting pet's urine out of carpet etc. I hope these are of some help.

- I like my leather furniture. Everyone told me not to get it, but with leather recliner, my two year old got ahold of it with an ink pen and just a little bit of alcohol and some leather conditioner it was gone! After four years of the furniture I still love it and it still looks like new! I don't allow the kids to have their shoes all over the furniture, and not alot of toys are allowed in the living room anyway. If taken care of I prefer the leather because of the durability.
