- Q: I am about to run out of Sofa Mart leather cleaner and it's very expensive. Are there any cheaper things to use that are also safe for leather furniture?
- Use saddle soap from a horse tack shop or a farm store that stocks horse supplies. It is especially made for leather saddles and if it can clean a stinky saddle that has been on a horse, it will clean leather furniture. Just read the can and follow the instructions. It will cost you pennies compared to stuff that furniture stores will try to sell you.
- Q: I have recently come into possession of a really good couch. The ONLY problem being is that it has stains on it, and smells a little. - You two need to establish just who is boss in your house. As for the jumping on the sofa..why does this bother the husband? My dogs do it all the time. I expect that. They are welcome to the furniture if they want. Except our bed at night. We tell them to Go night night and they'll sleep on the floor. If you two don't want him on the couch, teach him the command of get down or something like that. When he obeys, get down and play with him.

- It will almost certainly fit for a couple of reasons. A furniture manufacturer would soon find itself out of business if it made things that couldn't fit through a standard door, which yours is. Even though the numbers don't seem to add up and that it appears that the dimensions of the sofa are bigger than your door, all it takes is to bring the thing in at an angle and it will go in without a problem. In rare cases, the feet of the piece or a door may have to be removed from its' hinges, but those aren't hard to accomplish and will not slow the process down much. Delivery people with a little experience will know the tricks to make large objects fit into tight doorways without damaging anything. I've moved things up stairs and around seemingly insurmountable obstacles with a little finesse and forethought. Sometimes you have to tip a sofa up on end as well as on its' edge in order to get it through a particularly tight spot, but it is rare. I wouldn't worry as it sounds like your situation is a lot better than some, and the delivery guys will have no problem with it. You're right to be concerned, and it's probably a good idea to remove any possible obstacles prior to them showing up, like wall hangings, lamps, and anything they can trip over. Blankets to protect stair railings and floors isn't a bad thing to have on hand, too. A cup of coffee and a $10 - 20 tip isn't out of the question, either, if they do a good job without breaking anything and are courteous and careful. Not a requirement, but a really nice gesture because furniture delivery is a strenuous job under the best of circumstances. By the way, if I didn't mention it before, the sofa will fit through the door with no problem.
