Q: I recently purchased a portable generator that is 7 hp and 3050 continuous watts, i tried to calculate the efficiency as follows:743 watts 1 hp7 X 743 5201 watts, (so at 100 percent efficiency, 5201 watts is possible to produce from a 7 hp generator.)the unit produces 3050 watts, so the 5201 watts (possible watts)/3050(actually produced watts) (0.5864) or approximately 59% efficiency, this does not seem right, it should be about half that. What am i doing wrong?
First, nothing operates at 100% efficiency. You are converting angular rotation into electric power and in any conversion of power, you lose efficiency. 59% efficiency isn't that bad. Second, generators are measured at continuous power and peak power. Check your owners manual or look on the side of the generator. At peak power, you will find that the efficiency is greater.
Q: I'd like to hear some propaganda used to make a religious arguement and what makes it misleading. For example: The story about NASA discovering a missing day, and a Christian advisor explains to NASA that the bible claims God stopped the sun for 1 day.Turns out it never happened. NASA never discovered a lost day, Harold Hill (the Christian advisor) DID advise for NASAon what diesel generators to buy. This entire NASA story is based on Hill's comments in a book he wrote, and it turns out the we found a missing day legend existed years before NASA even existed.Another one: C14 can't date past 50k years (to imply that its not possible to date anything older than 50k years). Truebut argon dating can! Funny how that got left out.One for the Christian crowd: Only the bible claims Jesus existed.Nope, he's mentioned in the Gnostic Gospels, and a few historians of the day mentioned This guy named Jesus gathering a following in Isreal.Any others?
the concern with your total premise is which you base it on what you planned to be the only actuality. There are hundreds of diff sects of christianity each and every with teachings in basic terms a splash diff than the others. What proper or by using what authority do you declare your is rigth and the others are maximum proper others to heresy? i'm mormon and function long previous to 2 temple dedications. At the two one in all them there have been picketers and socalled christians handing out literature approximately how we've been evil and not christian and that our temples are an abmonation. those persons are pathetic. in the event that they equivalent what christians are assume to be then i could gladly condemn this form of christianity. on a similar time they think of we arent christian and evil and their condemnation against us in basic terms strengthens my faith and picture how pathetic their sect and their version of God is that in the event that they even have self assurance solid persons are occurring to hell. If the habit the gang is encouraging is unfavourable or risky or maybe hateful, then it in all probability isnt of God or very Christian.
Q: i.e a house or a hospital.
Diesel or propane are good for long term use on small scale. You want a generator that runs at a low RPM to give a reasonable longevity between rebuilds. A diesel engine with a large storage fuel tank would be the best for small scale power generation. If you have a pipeline source for natural gas you can run a diesel engine on natural gas or propane. What makes a diesel the best choice is that it runs at about 1200 RPM and will run possibly for years without a snag other than oil and filter changes. A gasoline engine runs closer to 4000 or more RPM which causes far more wear and friction and isn't good for long term use. Gasoline is far cheaper and good for temporary generation like for normal power outages. Natural gas or propane generators, especially ran in a diesel style engine, burn very clean and can be cheaper if you have natural gas pipelines in your area, plus you wouldn't need a storage tank for fuel. Even a 10 KW generator could go through 20 gallons of diesel a day, so you would need at least a 500 gallon tank to last a month. Pipe line would eliminate this tank and truck delivery of fuels. If you are looking at off grid power, like solar or wind, it is best to combine the two. Solar heating is the cheapest way of heating water which could be used to heat a house and/or bath water. Wind is the cheapest for DC generation of electric which is stored in big banks of lead-acid batteries. Using LCD lights and low power equipment will minimize the amount of electricity you need to generate and store
Q: I am currently a diesel mechanic in the Army. I know a lot about bothe gas and Diesel engines in cars trucks and generators. My contract is almost up and I m trying to transition back into the civilian world. I was just wondering if someone could help me out with any major differences between a 6.7 liter Diesel engine and the Diesel engines in heavy diesel trucks
This topic is worth people's attention
Q: Hello, what I'm really trying to understand is how do large generators that power prisons, hospitals and various government buildings work? I have a basic understanding of regular house generators and their working process. What I want to know is how such a generator can acquire power in a case of a complete electric blackout, is there a back up supply line? another power source? Surely to supply a large building such as a prison or a hospital one would need a large reserve of power. So the question is where does that power come from? Or are they completely autonomous? Also are these generators commonly used nowadays and what is the difference between them and the reserve power system if any. I would greatly appreciate any answers that could explain the above. Thanks.
You are asking about backup generators? They have a gasoline or diesel engine driving the generator.
Q: I am looking for the stand by large generator 15-20kw (to use all the power on one transfer switch). The problem is that stand by generator require large propane tanks (expensive to install). I would like to find a stand by generator that i could run off gasoline and use all of it available power. I think this would the most economical solution. In case of propane/natural gas the cost of propane tank installation is significant. The diesel stand by generators are significantly more expensive. So far I have found tri-fuel13kw portable generator that has several outlets. In this case not all the power can be utilized.
I don't get what you mean by not able to use all the power. The generator will produce it's rated output, and little more, from one or any combination of it's outlets - single or three phase, including the 12 volt charging system. The total output of the machine is available as a function of the total load connected, not the number of plugs or the variety of outlets - it is the total load that counts. Petrol is the least efficient, and the most dangerous fuel to use and store. The amount of fires involving LPG or similar fuels is a fraction of those involving petrol in road accidents for a start. A slow speed Diesel generator correctly sized for your normal load (allow 33% additional capacity for starting induction motors etc.) will use the least fuel, and be the longest lasting by a large margin of any of the choices you suggest above. The cheapest initial option will be a petrol powered system, but the most expensive to run, and the earliest to wear out. The running costs will be much cheaper on propane etc., and the engine will run much cleaner and last longer as a result. A high speed diesel unit will cost more than the petrol version, but will not be as expensive as the better slow speed types, it will be economical, but is not going to last as well as the slow speed models. Well made slow speed diesel units will cost the most to install, but will be the most economical both to run, service and in longevity. The cheapest initial option I have found, is always the most expensive in the medium and long range. If the unit is purely for emergency power, it should be run under load every month at least, and the fuel must be kept fresh, or treated and constantly monitored to withstand long term storage - this is where the propane storage is particularly effective. The worst thing that can be done with any backup power system is to allow it to sit for any length of time without being used. Many fail at critical times because of this.
Q: Did some searching, and found little other than single, model specific, manuals (either paper or on CD). The paper manuals are $50-60 each. Single model PDF manuals on CD are about $20.Does anyone know if a comprehensive set of shop service manuals is even available for Yamaha Portable Generators? (gas and diesel) I don't mind paying, but I don't want just ONE manual, I want 'em all. That way I don't have to go through this again when a different model Yamaha comes into my shop. TIA for any help!:-) ?

Q: What are the materials used in diesel generators
The motor is generally outside the copper core material it looks like is a kind of metal
Q: i found a 1998 dodge ram 2500 with turbo diesel Cummings motor, and people tell me that Cummings is the best to get why is that? would $3300 be worth it for this truck?

Q: also is it probability that will damage my computer or UPS
Depending on where you live, your main power may occasionally be supplied by a large diesel generator. During power outages I use a 5500 watt generator to supply power to my home. The computer is on backup power and I have never had a problem. There is absolutely no reason for concern if you have a good quality generator that works properly. If your generator supplies a stable output voltage it will work fine. However if your generator operates near it maximum load and the output voltage varies in frequency and voltage there is a possibility of damage to equipment connected. A UPS may assist, but unless the generator is perfect the UPS will switch to battery power. After a short time the battery will run down and the computer shut off.
