Q: Generator prices? Diesel generator prices?
Unit configuration (optional unit configuration on charging) is an important factor affecting the unit price, unit optional configuration: split the daily fuel tank, integrated base fuel tank, battery charger
Q: I live in a town home community. The person who loves immediately behind me (the backs of our homes face each other,) has been running a generator from 8am to 10pm every single day for the last two weeks. It is driving me up a wall. It's right outside my bedroom and kitchen. I have complained to the HOA and the town but nothing has been done. He is using a generator to power his whole house because they ran up their electric bill over the winter, didnt pay, and now can't afford to have it turned back on. Is running a generator even efficient? I imagin e spends more on gas every day then he would electric. Why not just sell the generator to pay the bill???
Well it does cost more to constantly run the generator you are right there, unless it is on natural gas then probably not. What has happened is the electric company probably won't let him have service again because he owes them money for the unpaid bills, and he will have to pay the owed money plus late fees to get the power back on. So in his feeble mind he thinks running the generator is sticking it to the man so to say, when really he is only costing himself more money in the end and annoying the neighbors in the process. Sorry but if the HOA or town has no rules on owning and operating a generator there might not be much you can do. He is operating it within what I would call respectable time frames. I am not in support of him running it all the time but it is what it is. You could call the police and see if they could do something but don't expect it to be much.
Q: Im building a new house, and I would like to go totally off the grid in South-Central Oklahoma.Id like to be able to run the tv, freezer, refrigerator, and minimal lights and water well.Im looking for information on a complete system.Any ideas/? Im looking for the pros and cons of this way of life from homeowners that have actually done this.
My grandfather put 2 inches of foam board around his freezer, except for the coils- hardly goes on at all. Anything to reduce power useage is good.
Q: I need a silent diesel generator of power capacity of 25 kW, i am going for the following brands(suggest something)1. Jackson Cummins2. Mahindra powerol3. Kirloskar
i have seen Kirloskar unit in an office complex. Seems to be good. No idea about the other two brands.
Q: A friend and I have been tossing around ideas about the future of the human race, and are coming more and more to the conclusion that we're all going to hell in a handbasket.Virtually ALL religious writings make reference to pockets of humans living past Armageddon even though civilization itself is pretty much gone. Humans will continue on the level we were on several hundred years ago, in small farming communities, doing most work by hand. The problem is to survive long enough to establish such communities.MRE's and other long-life foods are fine, but pretty expensive. If you're talking about feeding hundreds or thousands of people for several years, we have to get back to something like dried beans and rice. The government does it. How?What is the best way to store grains and beans? Metal drums rust. Plastic drums are succesptible to rodents. Are silo's necessary? If so, what is the LONGEST rice and beans will last? Years? A decade? What do you think?
Well, if you're serious about it, you only need the rice and beans for a year or two. You need seeds, though, and a good book on farming. You and your friend can get a pretty good farm going on your own and grow more food than you need by yourselves while you wait for others to join you. You should look up sustainable farming and research into what the Native Americans were doing before we got here. There's no sense in starting up a new civilization with the same old bad practices of the one that just fell. You could also get some books on edible plants in your area and the areas around it. Global warming and pollution may kill off a lot of the plant life, but there will always be the perfectly edible dandelion. Anything that kills off all the plants is also going to kill you, so you might as well know how to supplement your diet with fresh stuff. With your surfeit of food in the new landscape, you'll probably want to invest in walls and maybe guns. For storage, you could always go old-fashioned. The link below has a lot of great resources for the pre-Industrial Revolution minded, but it also tells you how to make storage bins. You could also look up bell-shaped storage pits, which are another favorite method of storage, and one that was remarkably effective. Heh, I've thought about this a lot, too. Can I join your group if disaster finally falls?
Q: Hello,I'm doing a research project that requires me to report on five ethical missteps made by engineers/staff at the Fukushima plant that caused the disaster. I'm having trouble with this research because most of the information i'm finding centers around the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that caused so much damage. Can anyone point me toward any human errors that centered around poor ethical judgement?
If you just google human error fukushima you're going to get (a) a few articles from the summer of 2011; (b) a rash of articles from July, 2012; (c) a rash of articles from Oct-Nov, 2013; and (d) a rash of articles from last week (Feb 2014). Whether all will cite ethical missteps is unknown to me.
Q: If a 13L big diesel engine can produce 400 hp at 1800 rpm, and a 7L diesel can produce 400 hp at 3600 rpm, but the 13L produces twice the torque, which would produce more electricity?
The 13 L of course, but in the case of a generator its usually limited somehow, also its more about fuel efficiency with power generation then anything, you want it to last through a storm or power outage for as long as possible and a 13 L will chug way more gas then the 7L, also what kind of engine are these a thirteen liter diesel engine only putting out 400 hp is a joke and it could go higher then 1800 RPM. So yes the 13l would produce more electricity quicker, but the 7L would be more useful and practical.
Q: Any places that can supply CHEAP diesel generators.i don't care about the voltage output.Price range about ?100 - ?300.
Unlikely to get something that runs - or any sort of lifespan in diesel for that money. Google the generic Chinese stuff and take your chances. Apart from a lot of deaths due to not being earthed, gensets are very dangerous should any carbon monoxide enter the area that people are in and many deaths and accidents are attributed to that each year - the more this is looked at the greater the risk appears to be, particularly on boats.
Q: Do you have more insights into this? Japan builds great cars, machinery, tools and high-tech products. Their bullet train is known for almost zero delays in decades. Yet with the Fukushima nuclear power station we have flawed tsunami protection in a location known for powerful earthquakes and tsunamis for at least centuries. I guess no one should be surprised by a ca. 50 feet tsunami at that location. It looks to me like such an obvious blunder. Am I mistaken? - And I mean no offense to the great people of Japan who so valiantly dealt with the terrible tsunami crisis that I admire this very much. Thank you.
They know there would be tsunamis around the area, but they never expected the tsunamis of that magnitude. After the incident, the geographers dig the land and found there were tsunamis of that size about 700 years ago. It is difficult for ppl to predict the natural disasters that come in 700-year interval. They prepared for the earthquakes and tsunamis of the grade of every 70~300-year interval, but obviously, it wasn't enough for the preparation. Therefore, the gov. is asked the geographers to check the ground to find any sign of past disasters and to reassess the security measures. Obviously, the scientists have better methods to research the land compared to 30-40 years ago, so if any problem was found, the gov. says they would close up the power plants.
