- Q: From what I understand, when the earthquake struck, the nuclear reactors had shut down (control rods were inserted). As a result, the power coming from the steam turbine generators were shut off.At the same time, the earthquake had knocked out Japan's power grid, so power coming from outside the power plant was out.Then the emergency diesel generators went into effect, but was knocked out an hour later as well, and people suspect it was from the tsunami.Would the disaster still have happened if they kept the steam turbine generators running (which means never shutting down the reactor via control rods), and water pumping, instead of shutting it down and letting the backup power direct the emergency cooling?
- if hte control rods had not be inserted it would of catastrophic. the reactors would be working at 100% and no one can shut it down becasue there is no power. left for too long and unable to stop the reaction, it could lead to an actual meltdown like at the Chernobyl. there's a good reason why during any emergency the control rods are inserted. its standard protocol since the very first nuclear reactor experiments back in the late 1930s under some gym in the eastern USA. you want to shut down the most dangerous thing first, the one that has the most potential for catastrophe before doing anything else.

- Most likely work related to the diesel generator or as an auxiliaryman. All propulsion work on a carrier is done by the NUCS. edit Enginemen are often assigned as small craft engineers, operating the engines on various boats carried by the ship.

- Sometimes pumps are used to maintain water pressure, sometimes water towers which still needs pumps. The energy to run the pumps almost always comes from the power grid although there is no reason you could have diesel (or some other fuel) engine driven pumps in locations where there's no electricity. uh.edu/engines/epi2578.htm

- A cellphone can also be charged with a little hand sized charger using a couple of AA Batteries. There are wind-up radios available. If you need light, Tino-sby has the right answer. Note: Diesel is best because the fuel is much less inflammable, and does not decay when stored for long periods. (Note that you can get fuel preservative additive in any good cay accessory shop if you go for gasoline fuel.)

- I would like to help--but I need to know what size of generator you want 2.8 k-12 k ; and what type of fuel Gasoline, propane, diesel. I would ask why don't you mount a Onan Micro quite or light into the side or front of your fifth wheel---but with out seeing your trailer I have no idea what to recommend
- Q: I have been given a cheap diesel generator made from china. It starts alright, but seems to be reving very high and poping and spitting until it has ran for a while. It surges some times as well. I don't really like it much and haven't used it to power anything other then to load test it a bit. I have checked the motor and all it has is a simple governor on it with no adjustments? I am not sure even where to start adjusting anything on this. Any body have one of these and same problem? Please I was given it, I would like to get a little service out of it , not just junk it Fuel, oil, air filter are all new.so? help?
- So what did you want to do with this engine? It sounds like a stationary engine used to power a generator or pump or similar application at a constant RPM.

- I think you mean diesel-electric generator. Properly, a diesel generator is a factory that makes diesel fuel. And the parts (at a high level, as there are thousands of parts total) are a diesel engine, plus fuel tank. an electric generator or alternator and electronic and mechanical controls to adjust the engine and generator so that it outputs the required voltage and frequency as the load changes.
- Q: i can not figure out that why the hiring department selected someone without any interview!!! and one thing i would like to let you know that,my supervisor rejected my RFI at first without giving a look on it giving the reason that lack of three years experience, even having around ten years experience. that means the hiring has made through favoritism or through recommendation.but i am a fool working in CSA for these 22 months hoping to get my professional job,first of all the CSA cheated me while recruiting from India, telling me that i am coming here as a Utility technician(diesel generator mech), but gave me the position Supply Associate, promising to give my professional position within three months,but i got the position Mechanic Associate after sixteen months, but the work is water washing (in Wash Rack). anyhow please let me get the proper person's contacts. so that i may not loose my precious life time and skills like this.looking forward to hear from you soon
- I work for CSA as well, first off are you western or TCN? If you were offered a specific position and didn't get it you should be talking with HR. Or get a Kuwaiti lawyer the company is in violation of labor laws. CSA lately has been doing some very unethical things and are going to get caught.
