Q: i am having a electrical paper in my semester. I want to know about the design of a electrical generator
Torque is not the right question to ask in this problem! First define the generator output in terms of watts. Assume an efficiency of 0.8 for the generator and define the Input of the generator (In Out / 0.8). This is the output of your motor (assuming some diesel/petrol). Torque is expressed as N/m (force x radius) and is part of the electric generator specs. See there to get the equivalence. Usually, the motor power is also 0.8 efficient, so the motor power should be W / (0.8*0.8) and that will give you the right ratio.
Q: I am setting up a bio gas plant on my farm in india. I want to know if generators are available for bio gas. What are the modifications required to petrol and diesel engines to make them run on bio gas.
I think that there are a number of firms in India which manufacture Bio Gas Generators so that you may be able to buy them directly instead of modifying your Diesel Generator into Bio-Gas Mode of functioning. All the very best.
Q: I am trying to use a marine deep cycle battery and power inverter to power a chest freezer in an ice cream truck. The issue is that the marine battery will drain in a few hours. I was told told that I could connect the inverter to the car battery as well as the marine battery and while the engine is running, the car battery would be charge the marine battery through the inverter. Can anyone tell me how this works and how I should do the wiring?thanks
It will work but you need a battery charger as well, hook the inverter to the vehicles battery, then pulg the charger into the inverter, and then have the charger hooked to the marine battery. Why not just get a small generator or a 110v freezer and run it directly off the inverter or generator? You can plumb the generator into the fuel tank of the truck so you don't have to worry about filling the generator. If the truck is diesel get a diesel generator, gas for gas.
Q: Hi, I am trying to find a video or text based tutorials for backup generator on internet but i was unable to find a single. i am trying to find complete tutorial of mechanic and how to fine tune generators. hope here anyone knows about it.
I am generator technician, what specific things are you looking for?
Q: hi , can anyone give me the DG a,b,c,d checks details and schedule like a chart or something
Hi It is the same as a gas engine to maintain. Except for the fuel has to be water free. There will be a bowl some where to empty the water. Changing the oil etc. depends on how much you use it.
Q: I am very curious after watching quite a few movies about the 911 conspiracy theories. Those movies did raise some good points, especially the theory of a missle hit the White House instead of a plane. Very strange! Did anyone here watch those movies?
Was 911 Staged
Q: How bout you??? According to physics traction is not dependent on surface area. I'm vehicles with extremely tall wheels that absorb energy from impact run more efficiently do to lower rotating weight and driven by direct hub drive dc motors powered by small diesel generator/ solar and battery reserve. What would this look like? Who cares about looks!
That's according to classical physics. You'll notice that race cars from the 60's and earlier had skinny tires because of the principle that the friction coefficient was not dependent on surface area but since then, race car tires have gotten wider and softer. At first the mechanism as to why wider tires worked better wasn't known but in the 80's they realized that it had to do with the structure of materials at a microscopic level. Basically the surfaces are not smooth at a microscopic scale and hence are not in continuous contact though pressure increases the percentage of the surfaces that actually interact more so than the overall cross sectional surface area hence the independence on surface area was actually an illusion and could be greatly affected by the type of material involved hence soft tires designed to adhere, actually bonding to the road surface. Physics is a lot like statistics, unless you consider every possible consideration and there's likely an infinite number of considerations, the conclusions drawn are not necessarily conclusive. Hub motors actually increase the rotational and unsprung mass considerably creating handling problems and additional energy loss due to the suspension. There's already diesel serial hybrid buses that use hub motors but at those scale, the additional rotational and unsprung mass is a much smaller percentage of the overall vehicle mass.
Q: I want to buy a portable generator for power-outages and need some advice on which to buy. I want to run: at least one refrigerator possibly a stand-alone freezerbasic lightinga few outlets a sum-pump. I also need to provide power to my heat in the winter Our heat is natural gas but it needs to be lit with the pilot light and I guess the thermostats need power. Preferrably diesel so we can store fuel safer. How many volts and watts do I need, what price range should I look for, and how many gallons of fuel would I need to be prepared for a good 2 days without power? Thanks- best answer gets the 10!
Your idea of a diesel is good. Look on the back of both all appliances and find the plate that tells how many watts and amps they use and copy them down. Make a list of what will be plugged into the outlets and if possible get the amps and wattage of those and add it to your list, same with sump pump. Now take that list to a dealer and show it to them and they will figure out what size generator you will need. Do not guess what size generator you will need, most underestimate The size and often by a large amount. Let an expert that is in the business do the figuring. Most answers on here go by widely varying assumptions and uneducated guesses, depending on any of them could result in your system watts being way off. You might be paying for a system several times too large or small if you rely on these answers. Either way it could get very expensive and wasteful.
Q: hi i am looking for a generator to provide roughly 25kv for home use. roughly the need is4-5 1.5 ton ac3 fridge3 lcd 32-60 inch6 fansa15-20 lights2-3 computer/laptopmultimedia system2 water pumpssome additional usual house requirementswhat option do have on the basis of following:initial costdiesel / petrol / natural gassizenoise leveloperating costoverall efficiencyi personally like HONDA, but they have only 6.5kv available in pertol/gasi want to avoid diesel due to cost and bad fumesin petrol i can make it convertable to gas as wellbut people guide me that if i go in 25kv than the option is only for diesel.pls guide me.imran.
One other consideration for your generator is the natural gas has less power in the range of 25% If you need 7.5 KW and it is natural gas then the generator needs to be a 10KW unit. Diesel is quite reliable but storage of fuel is a concern, for petrol also. I suggest you contact a local electrical contractor who specializes in home generator installations. 25 KW is about the smallest for your needs. 40 is probably a better choice. All in all they are not cheap.
Q: Electrical Power Generator, Capable of using JP-8 fuel.
J P-8 is a better hotter burning deisel fuel they use it in the military on diesel motors as well as generators
