Q: can DG's be used as a backup for single phase and three phase ac?
Yes but they need to match the power source they are replacing.
Q: I know in some cases Electric companies will buy energy from someone who's solar panel's/wind turbines are overproducing. I think the system's have to be properly grid tied, i.e. either installed by or inspected by someone from the power company. I know that they don't pay much, but if you had a diesel generator running on waste vegetable oil.like if you made an arrangement with a restaurant to pick up their waste oil for them, it would be nice to be able to do so on a regular basis instead of going to them every so often saying Hey, I ran out of oil, I need some more. I guess I'm specifically asking about AEP. (American Electric Power) I live in Findlay, Ohio. I was on their website but couldn't find the answer to this question. Thanks!
Hi. I don't know if the power company will buy the electricity from you, but it's worth a call to them to see how you can leverage this ability. I think you're right, though. I think that you have to be able to put that power into the grid, meaning that you have to have the power company come out and approve the set up and then put a meter on your line so that they can measure the amount of power you are generating. I believe that you can easily set up some agreements with local restaurants to get their used fry oils and such. You might need to purchase some specialized equipment in order to recpature the oil and bring it back home, but I think that this will be the easy part. Good luck!
Q: I am purchasing a LARGE MOBILE TRAILER to be my mobile workshop. I wonder which would best regarding fumes and general maintenance. Onan approx. 7000w is my preffered choice at this point.
One that runs on propane will be the best as far as pollution goes. Gas gives the more power, diesel would cost too much and of course, pollutes the most. You need to calculate the total wattage you'll be using and buy a generator rated for it. Note that on most generators the advertised wattage is serge wattage and the sustainable wattage is less.
Q: Hi, i have a peugeot diesel conected to an 8kw alternator via a lay shaft engine 2275rpm alt 1500rpm at 2250rpm engine produces max torque 70lb ft, alt should only need 33lb ft. under heavy load engine allmost stalls. I think i need avr control? Can you help with advice and componants? Many thanks Andre
The alt is what RPM you will set the engine atMost 120-240 volt are 50 HRX and run at 1800or 3600 so if it's the 3600 back end your using the wrong engineUnless you use a pulley and belt to get the correct RPMMY 8K Diesel marine ONAN direct drive 3cyc runs at 1800 Rpm If your over loading the genset than no engine will workwhat is the load your pulling as 8K is 80 amps Max single 240V or 40 amp double 120V
Q: If global warming is as bad as Scientists say, two hours a month without power seems like a small price to pay in the grand scheme of things. I'm sure theres a way to keep hospitals running and emergency services running. All shops would have to lock down I guess people would start rioting or something, but I would think there would have to be some sort of way to covertly have different towns and counties shut down for a couple hours discretely each monthmaybe at night when people are sleeping? Just a thought.
Of course it would depend on the power source. It is not the use of electricity that is causing problems to the global climate, but how it is generated.
Q: I live in an area where storms are quite common, in fact the storm season approaches us. We have thunderstorms during which our lights start flickering. I am scared that one day light's would go out and we'd be left in the dark, to be safe, I want to build a small generator electric. I am not talking about toy generators or stuff like that. I want a small generator, one that I can use to charge cell phone (if dead) or power up the radio. Nothing too big either, mind you, I am not an engineer, I am a biologist, so I don't get all the connection stuff and such. So please go easy on the engineering lingo.
Since you are nor an engineer, I think you'd better bought that generator. From you need, I guess something with capacity of 1000-2000 watts is enough. Things you need to consider: Quiet or noisy one (of course the quiet one is more expensive) Fuel (gasoline, diesel, or LPG)
Q: I figured it might be diesel generators but I wonder how all that works. I am curious person. LOL
Yes there are usually several diesel generators to supply electricity. On older vessels a steam turbine drove a generator for power.
Q: has there been any long term tests on the effects on the engine from running it on hydrogen produced from a hydrogen generator and your ordinary gasoline/Diesel?also has anyone attempted to hook a hydrogen/H2O/Brown's gas generator up to a actual diesel generator like wisperwatt or any kind of diesel generator?any help would be great thanks!
you can win $1,000,000 if you can get one to work. There is a site that has the money waiting for you, have at. personally I'm getting tired of scammers that post questions pretending to be curious, but they in fact are trying to perpetuate the scam. Go out a do serious research from real places, not just testimonials which are lies from fictitious people.
Q: hi i am looking for a generator to provide roughly 25kv for home use. roughly the need is4-5 1.5 ton ac3 fridge3 lcd 32-60 inch6 fansa15-20 lights2-3 computer/laptopmultimedia system2 water pumpssome additional usual house requirementswhat option do have on the basis of following:initial costdiesel / petrol / natural gassizenoise leveloperating costoverall efficiencyi personally like HONDA, but they have only 6.5kv available in pertol/gasi want to avoid diesel due to cost and bad fumesin petrol i can make it convertable to gas as wellbut people guide me that if i go in 25kv than the option is only for diesel.pls guide me.imran.
GENERACHas a 25 kw that uses natural gas. Also packaged units that start on power failure We have a 600 kw that is nat. gas and isn't too hard on gas
Q: I have a generator in the building I am working on. It appears quite dated, but its stats are as follows: it’s a 415 Volt 3 Phase Diesel Generator. On the plate of the generator:415V3 Phase640KVA520KWPower Factor 0.8902 AmpsSo my question is:We are testing the generator to its full load, now my load is at power factor 1. Would I be correct in assuming that because my load is power factor 1 that the full load of my generator is 640kW not 520kW.Or is it that my actual power loading is rated at 520kW, but that load is allowed to be inductive or capacitive to 0.8.Because it says 900 amps on the plate I am therefore under the assumption that regardless of my load characteristics, as long as I do not exceed 900 amps there should be no problem. Or is it a case that my load can only be 520kW and the highest I can allow the phase to go out is up to 640kVA.Hope that makes sense, ill edit if not. Thanks for reading.
Treat all of the figures as maximum rated outputs. The maximum power it can delivery is 520kW, that is why it says 520kW. 640kVA and power factor 0.8 should not be be exceeded either but if your load is pf1 then the 520kW will take precedence. No offence but anyone who can't interpret these numbers shouldn't really be testing equipment of this power.
