- Q:rug is wool. its new. it costs 80 dollars to clean with the company.. id rather do it by hand.what besides hot water and a rug.. do i put on it to clean it by hand?
- Let the pros clean it since it's wool. Do NOT use hot water on it.If it's just the smell then open all the windows and let it air out. The smell will disappear. If you have a clean garage lay it in there on top of sawhorses or clean trashcans so the air can circulate.
- Q:My dog ripped up the rug and I was wondering if I could sew it back together or stitch it or something. Is that possible?He's ripped it up pretty good, the tears are 2-5 inches long, and half an inch wide at the most. Any help is greatly appreciated!Thanks in advance.
- Is this rug like a throw rug or is it like carpet? Either way you can sew them. If it is carpet, attached to the floor, then cut a small piece from behind a door or inside of a closet. Use that to replace the damaged part by sewing it in. You can make a carpet needle by holding a large needle over the flame on your stove using a pair of pliers. With a second pair of pliers bend the needle into a half circle. Let it cool before touching it of course. Then just sew the piece into the damaged area. I've had to do that many a time with my puppies.
- Q:So I have this cheap $20 rug from walmart thats teal. I did away with it for a while but now that I want my room redone, I want a black rug to go in front of a futon. How would I go about dyeing this rug instead of buying a new one and leaving this one to collect dust? It has a plastic wired bottom to hold the rug together and to act slip resistant. Would dyeing it affect it?
- Whether dyeing would work depends on what fibre it's made of. If it's wool or cotton, it would dye quite well with ordinary dyes, though it might present a few difficulties since dyes usually call for being heated, and a lot of rinsing after. If it's a synthetic fibre, which it very likely is, it might not dye at all because synthetics don't absorb dye very well, if at all. If they do, they usually require processes that would be very difficult to achieve with a rug, such as heating the dye bath with the item in it. All in all, it's probably not worth even trying. Find a cheap black rug to buy.
- Q:I steam clean my carpet twice a year but lately because of a sick pet it is more often. No matter if I do it myself or have a professional do it, I see dark brown water. It has never been clear. How many times do I go over the carpet to get the clean water. Is this all dirt? Or is it color from the carpet and pad. It drives me nuts. - Carpets can be really difficult to clean. No matter how many times you go over it, you cannot get it completely clean or dirtless. If you have the money, you should seek into getting tiles or laminate flooring. To me, it's way more sanitary and much more easy to clean.
