- Q: I might be buying a motorcycle that is thirty years old, and the tires are original. The tires only have 8,400 kilometers on them, and they are in great shape, but are old. Would WD-40 soften up the tires? Thanks.Sincerely,William
- They are no longer tires; they are rim protectors, good for keeping the rims off the ground while the bike is parked, nothing more. A 10-year-old tire is unsafe, let alone a 30-year-old one. Replace immediately. There is NO other option. NEVER apply ANY lubricant to tires, unless your intention is to kill the next person to ride the bike.
- Q: Motorcycles, scooters any 2 wheelers has to lean to turn, but 3 wheelers or trikes tyres tend to stay on the ground.I was wondering if I am correct on is and need feddback or correction on my thinking because our trike‘s handlebar front wheel wobbles a lot and we thought it‘s the front tyre that is not as flat as the rear ones. Our front tyre is the same as any other bikes or scooters stock tyres. With a lil contact surface getting wider at the sidewall up to the rim.Don‘t u think manufacturer got the wrong one for the front?
- I've seen a few of these posts about the chinese trikes having wobbly front ends, and the solution to the problem is, dont buy chinese junk. Those trikes have poor craftsmanship, bottom line.
- Q: When buying tires for a Motorcycle can you adjust the size along as it fits the same rim size?
- Not if you wish your bike to handle and control as the engineers and designers of the motorcycle had intended. They spent a ton of time, money and energy determining what tire size would be best, you should trust their findings.
- Q: I have 00 yamaha r6 with dunlop qualifier tires.Today when i did a hard brake at 50ish miles, my rear started fishtailing and skid toward one side, and i reapply the brake and kinda got the bike straight but i was out of the line at the red light, lucky it just turned red from yellow. What could be the problem? Tires or brake?
- I can see there are a couple of NON-riders answering your question man, pay no attention. LISTEN to his question before you tell him he doesn't know how to ride. I dont think there is a problem with your bike, or your riding skills.I think the problem is that you had to hard brake from 50ish miles per hour. To the guy who said NO WAY should the back tire lock up if you use proper pressure.oh yeah? I bet if a deer runs out in front of you on a back road you lock that back tire up!!! Listen bro, even if you used the correct front/rear brake pressure.having to hard stop from 50ish miles per hour, a few things will happen the front end will squat, and the rear will raise, the tail will become extremely light and yeah the back tire will lock up. There is nothing wrong with your bike or your riding skills.its not like you are saying it does this all the time, it was one instance where you had to get on the brakes hard from 50ish miles per hour.it happens. Keep her right side up, headlight forward, and in between the lines!!!
- Q: I have an 87 Cbr 600 with a 130/80/17 rear and 110/80/17 front. Most of the tires I can get for the bike are H-rated and in the sport/touring category. Choices are Michelin Pilot Activ, Bridgestone Battlax BT-45,Metzler lasertec and Avon Road Rider which are the only V-rated, and the cheapest for some reason. If anyone has some 1st hand knowledge of any of these tires I would appreciate it. Thanks .

- Q: Is this possible on my 2002 suzuki gxsr 750? If so, do I have to get a wider wheel? Will the ride, with the 200 tire, become worst versus the ride with the 180?
- I'm not sure if it will fit or not but if the bike was designed with a 180 then installing a 200 is only going to slow down the turning. If you're only concerned with how it looks then knock yourself out, but why ride one of he best sportbikes made then? You may as well get a harley.
- Q: Looking for a 20 x 300 tube motorcycle tire for a modern motorcycle. It can be street or 90/10 enduro. Any good sources? Thanks!
- That 20 inch size was I think a Honda only on a couple models- probably have to go to a Honda dealer for their source of tires. Dennis Kirk might have a source. Bridgestone was the OEM supplier I think for a few years- could check there dealers.
- Q: what causes dimples in motorcycle tires?
- These are impact fractures. These are caused by either low pressure, or from riding on a rough road. The tires are made up by a web of airtight materials with rubber over it. When you hit a bump, these materials can split which then let's air in between the materials causing a bump.
