- If you have oily skin what dermatologists recommend is wearing loose powder. Now, I have oily skin and don't wear foundation, so what I do is: I apply an oil-free primer, then sunscreen, then loose powder with a brush. Touch-ups with NARS pressed powder but BEFORE I do that I blot off excess oil from my skin with blotting papers. That's the reason they recommend a loose powder, because using a sponge from a compact on oily skin can be, well just plain gross, as you are smearing the oil across your face and that stays on the sponge, but if you blot off the oil first and then for touch-ups you blot on the pressed powder (instead of swiping) you should be fine. I make sure to replace the sponges often too.
