Q: So my daughter's car is an 02 Accord manual with about 127k miles. It's making a squeaky noise which apparently is the belts. The dealer says they're too tight, but are in okay condition. They want to change the water pump and adjust the belts for $750. This seems a bit steep to me. Does the water pump need to be changed if it's working properly? How much should it cost to adjust the belts? I'm thinking she should find a more reasonable shop. What are your thoughts?
Have them do it, that's a fair price and required service. This is a complicated job because there's also a balance belt to do along with the timing belt, also a special tool required to lock things in place during the job. A water pump and new coolant is valid during this as it is so hard to get at otherwise. Do it there, the dealer is best for this or my shop but you're probably a million miles away. :-)
Q: So I need to make a human powered water pump... Does anyone know how to make one? Any websites that could show me would be nice.MORE DETAILS:The pump is on the ground...it needs to pump water from a reservoir into another reservoir that is two meters high and two metres across from where the pump is... The pump needs to be handheld too. What should I use and any good plans on how to make it?
The simplest manual pump is the lever-arm pump. This is just an elongated cylindrical reservoir, a valve casing, and a pump chamber in a linear arrangement. A piston within the pump chamber is connected to a link, and a handle which is used to pump the water. You can make a simple one by converting an ordinary bicycle pump. Attach an input hose to the air inlet, and an output hose to the pressurized air output for the tire. A good way to develop plans on how to make it would be to visit your local sporting shop or auto parts shop and look over their pumps. .
Q: Is pumping water, the new pump is also this problem, the pump is also working, that is, no water, at night I opened, in the installation of water, second days also make it to noon is not so good
This fully automatic self-priming pump, if there is no water, there are 4,A. The air in the pump cavity is exhausted. The solution is to unscrew the copper screw on the pump body,Two. Water pipe leakage solution, check the joints and piping to ensure reliable sealingThree. At the end of the valve or three does not open or there is a serious blockage, solutions to check the bottom valve goods three psychic activity,Four. Leakage of seal in pump, adjust or replace the sealWhat's more, you feel that there is a leak in your water inlet. Check the three pass on the water inlet of the water pump. Think of this fully automatic pump. The switch for your tap water can be kept open all the time
Q: I live in a condo building -- 3 floors, 7 units. In our storage units (right below my unit) is a water pump that was hooked up with the intent of helping the water flow to the 3rd floor. Everytime the pump goes off, it rattles, then makes a loud noise when it kicks off. The developers created a drywall box that houses the pump, which is surrounded by isolation, but it doesn't seem like it helps the noise. The pump also rattles the pipes that connect directly to the pump.My question is -- is this rattling normal for a standard water pump? If so, is there anything I can do to help cut down on the noise? If this is rattling is not normal of the standard water pump, what would it cost to replace it with something decent?
It sounds like the pump is not large enough for the job. I had a well like that and the dummy who replaced the pump put in a very small one. Even though it was in the ground it was noisy. I'll bet people on the 3rd floor have water pressure issues. Why don't you talk to them and get more info on this. I am assuming you are all under some type of association so you can present all of your info at a meeting.
Q: it is a mazda b3000 pick up v6,it is coming from behind water pump, but it is not all the time, i would think that if pump is going it would be all the time, but it will go bone dry for a few dayswhen it does leak it leaves about an 8 inch spot on the driveway, temp gauge goes to its regular spot and does not move, any suggestions would be helpful, thanks
Buy some coolant dye from a parts store and put it in the radiator....clean the area around the leak well, drive it for a few days and check with a blacklight...hardware stores carry the bulbs. Could be an intermittent pump or gasket leak.
Q: What is the water pump population pre rotation, what harm?
Is the entrance of water flow in the formation of complex turbulent flow, flow direction, shock, vibration, easy to damage the front entrance device, such as vane impeller, shaft sleeve, sealing element. In order to prevent the emergence of the pre swirl phenomenon, usually the design will inlet than outlet diameter, try to make the entrance flow in laminar flow, according to streamline our design, in order to protect the safety and prolong the service life of equipment.
Q: The plumber has disappeared on us with 99% of the job done. Our new basement remodel has baseboard heating installed, a water pump attached to the furnace/boiler, but no heat downstairs because their is no thermostat. I haven't checked to see if he did any wiring. (Wouldn't that be an electrician's job?) I've ordered a wireless thermostat kit, and I'm assuming installation instructions for the base are included, but it hasn't arrived yet. What should I do to get that pump pumping hot water to keep us nice and cozy?
That part in the picture is a high limit control with manual reset. It has nothing to do with the pump. You will need more than a thermostat to control the added pump. When you have more than one pump the system is zoned .You need a switching relay panel (Taco SR502) that not only turns on the pump , but also the burner. There is a lot to know here and it's best left to a heating contractor.
Q: im thinking about buying a 93 ford taurus for $950. the owner says it will probably need a new water pump and brakes in the near future. is it worth it? i dont know anything about cars!
New brakes are not a huge expense unless the discs need machining. Brakes should be done regularly as a part of on-going preventative maintenance. Water pump is not a big ticket item and is so easy to get at. Make sure you get a new gasket as well. Maybe $200 for brakes unless you know someone mech minded. $70-$80 for water pump plus fitting
Q: We have 2 1995 E320's that are heating up way too high when running. One has been diagnosed at the repair shop for a malfunctioning fan clutch. They also said that as the car was running hot the water pump and thermostat should also be replaced (??) The water pump is 5.5 hours of labor and I cannot afford it right now. I was wondering how hard to replace it myself. Thanks
I just replaced a water pump on my C Class 220 cdi it cost me ?40 for the pump and under an hour to change it ,but it was gone and you could hear it was gone,so i doubt if its the pump,it may be that the thermostat is jamming ,or if the water is boiling over its much worse it could be the cylinder head gasket but you should definitely get a second opinion and avoid the mercedes dealers they just charge an arm and a leg good luck.
Q: Water is leaking from the front of my car, on the right where the radiator is located. only thing is that its not leaking a lot, just a little.... but people keep telling me that my timing belt is going to go out and that i will be stranded!. i will like to know the cost of both the water pump and timing belts for my 2001 PT Cruiser please.
um ur timing belt isn't leaking its the water outlet pipe.......i just replaced it in my wife 02 about a month or 2 ago........it was 50 bucks with new gasket from dealer timing belt and water pump were about 100 total form parts store.......i went ahead and replaced them because ur supposed to every 90k miles...even tho they had nothing to do with the leak....its a crappy design the painted steel pipe rusts underneath the paint and collapses at the o-ring styled gasket causing it to leak....
