Q:My cat doesn't understand what can she do with a scratcher--a cardboard thingy we got at a pet store, she pushes it away and goes directly to the rug. What should I give her to keep her off the rug? I tried putting a wooden board for her, but she didn't scratch that either.: A good way to prevent your cat from attacking you rug, is by putting some square pieces of carpet along the sides of some door frames in your home. It gives the cat more of a variety, rather than always having to scratch the same scratching post. You can also give them some toys, such as fluffy fake mice. this will keep them distracted, and hopefully draw them away from the rug. If none of this works, then try feeding your cat close to the scratching post. When he has finished eating, he will want to relax, and to start relaxing, he needs a good stretch, which is when the scratching post comes in handy to him. Cat's don't use their scratching posts as something just to scratch.. they use the to stretch the muscles in their legs and paws. your cat may take his naps in the room that the rug is located.. ? If he does, then it's best if you find another place for him to sleep, that way he doesn't have to stretch himself using the rug. If this still doesn't work, then cat nip may just do the job. I don't believe that cat nip is the best idea, as it can cause your cat to be a lot more energetic, but if it helps keep him away from the rug, then it may just be worth it. hope this helped, and good luck :D

Q:I have tried rug cleaning sprays and powders and vacummed it many times. I don't know what else to do and don't want to replace my rug!: White vinegar--it relatively is a large deodorizer, even on puppy urine. Plus it relatively is low-fee, organic, and works as a cloth softener,so it leaves the carpet delicate. It would not pass away a residue as many detergents and soaps do, meaning it won't entice dirt interior the destiny. The vinegar scent dissipates because it dries.

Q:so about two days ago i spilt a huge bottle of maple syrup on my carpet. i used some 409 carpet cleaner and i sprayed a lot of febreeze but the entire room still smells like syrup and the area where the syrup spilt has made the carpet really stiff and hard. how do i get the syrup out and make the carpet go back to normal?? i also dont want to use bleach or anything cause then the color change would be noticible: try mixing super hot water and BLUE Dawn dish soap... cover the spot with the water mix, put a towel over it and use a iron and over the spot over n over till its gone.. the spot will come up into the towel you might have to keep moving the towel around.. I haven't used it on syrup but it worked on every other stain I tried it on good luck

Q:What is the average cost to remove carpet?: If you do it yourself, you will save the labour charges. To remove wall to wall carpet, you need to have a good carpet knife; a good HD vacuum, and a smooth edge nail puller. Simply pull off the carpet from the smooth edge strips, then remove the strips with a nail puller. You may want to sand the floor where the nail strips were, but use steel wool and you won't have as much work for the refinish. OR call up a carpet removal/installer for his quote for the job.

Q:I'd like to know how REAL fur coats, bear skin rugs, etc. are made (by hand not industrial process) as I don't believe its tanning like in leather as it requires the fur to be stripped. The acetone can melt the fibers in the carpet leaving you a bare spot instead of a blue one. I've heard lighter fluid, alcohol and sugar/water kind of paste.....I think I'd go with the non-acetone remover if you can get ahold of some. Or if worse comes to worse.....go over it with blue nail polish....

Q:i was playing wiff my friends and the carpet got pulled up from the ground. is there any cheap way i can help stick it back to the ground like a professional?: Depends on how big of an area you are talking about and the carpet. I have done it with a high pile carpet by cutting a small slit and injecting glue beneath the carpet and then put weight on it for a while. If it is a low pile carpet you might have a hard time hiding your incision. Maybe if you can get a syringe type injector (meat injector) you can make a small enough hole that's not visible.
