- Q: I'm having a hard time visualizing this. I have two small black tables, a black loveseat, black TV with a black (or soon to be silver stand) and a bright red chaise lounge. I know going with a neutral beige rug would be good, but what is another different color I can go with in a rug? Bonus points if you can also tell me a good color for one accent wall... :)
- Go to Target, they have some very nice large rugs in multi colored patterns. Several with Black and Red and other bold colors. Either that, or a black white rug would do nicely with red furniture also. and if it were me, I would color one accent wall with a nice red. Just be bold!
- Q: How often is the average for replacing living room or bedroom carpet, I know it depends on the traffic, etc but just wondering averages and when is it time to replace instead of having it cleaned
- When it becomes thread bare, or does not come clean when you clean it, or it becomes damaged in some way that cannot be repaired, or you just can't stand to look at it any more...that's the time to change it. There is no rule of thumb, and anyone who tries to give you a time line based on just time, is just trying to sell you carpet. If it's not broken, don't fix it. There is a point though, when you can go too long. Example: I bought a house about a year ago with really terrible carpet. It was about 40 years old and looked like it had never been cleaned. It was horrible. I pondered for a split second whether I should try to have it cleaned once, to see if it was salvagable or go ahead and remove it before I moved in. Every time I went to the house, while trying to prep it to move in, I came out itching.... I had every last stitch of carpet removed, and found beautiful hardwood floors throughout, and so had those refinished and bought area rugs. So, that was an extreme....the point is that it is possible to wait too long, but still, keep your carpets as long as you keep them clean and you like them. I had another carpet, which I loved, for about 20 years, and I loved looking at it every day when I came home. I kept it very clean, and finally killed it with a dropped iron....
- Q: so the cat pooped on the rug.i cleaned it up.it smelled.i tried to cover it up with bleach.it left a big stain.i dont want to buy any stain remover.now what do i do?
- unfortunately, there is no way to get a bleach stain out of a carpet. carpet dye is added topically, so what you have done is taken the color out of the rug. you may be able to have it repaired... if you have a large enough piece of carpet in a closet, an experienced carpet installer may be able to cut out the damaged piece and replace it . it won't be a perfect fix, but it will be better that what you have now.. for future reference NEVER use bleach on carpet, it is not color fast, and depending on the kind of carpet, you may melt the carpet. before using any kind of cleaning product, you should test it in a closet, or an inconspicuous area.
- Q: MY child dumped some nail polish on a rug in her room-it has light colors-any suggestions how to get it out?
- It depends on what type of rug it is but most of the time anything that you can get fingernail polish out with will take the color out in the rug. Call a car detail shop and ask them if they will take a look. My husband owns a detail shop where we live and people even bring this type of thing in for him to work on.
- Q: So where i can find best conteporary rugs? Please help me?

- Q: How do you make the carpet glued to the tile?
- Double sided adhesive glue on the top slab carpet thorn. It is recommended that you do not glue it. Once the carpet doesn't work, it will be troublesome to clean the glue. The better thing is to use double glue to prick the top, so that it can be reused.
- Q: Some ppl recommended ABC Carpet and Home Outlet but I did not really find anything I liked. Any other options for places that I can look? Thanks!
- ikea is HORRIBLE for rugs. Ignore the first person. Go anywhere that is NOT a department store or large outlet geared towards the masses. I had a couple of outstanding purchases from our local rug store. Internet shopping was very difficult, although we did get some excellent finds on OKorder althought took 1 rug burn to know what to look for when purchasing online.
- Q: I survived tropical storm fay but now have 3 wet spots of rug...my sister said i need to pull the rug up to dry them spots but it's not pratical without replacing it all and i can't afford that..I have a box fan on the spots to dry the rug out..won't that work?
- You can use towels to soak up all the water you can. You might also consider turning on the heat. Heating air reduces humidity, dries things out. Warm air holds much more moisture. Then turn on the A/C. Alternating between the two can drive the humidity down rather quickly speeding up the drying process. It will also reduce the humidity in the rest of the house. Or if you have a space heater you might put one so that it heats the air the the box fan is blowing while running the a/c. Then you have almost built a commercial type drying unit. Those units use a small heater too. The bigger problem is the pad under the rug. Those soak water up like a sponge and since they are covered by the rug they dry slower. The commercial cleanup people will pull up the carpet in one area and blow the air under the rug. And something about washing the dirt in the carpet into the pad tends to make them smell even after drying out and I live where the humidity is low and mold is not much of an issue. If your carpet is worth it and you really want to save it I would say the best is to pull the carpet, clean it, maybe treat it, and dry it out, like by putting it on plastic sheeting in the garage. Then replace the pad which is likely much less costly. Part of the considerations depend on how much water got on the carpet. Good Luck.
- Q: I'm getting new carpets, and need to get rid of my old one, what tools do I need, also, what do I with the nails and do I need to rip up all the carpet, even when the carpet meets the door or the edges of a wall?
- You will need a tool to cut the carpet, a pry bar and elbow grease. Cut the carpet in manageable lengths and start pulling. The hardest part is getting the tac strips up and staples pulled up
- Q: What size coffee table carpet is in general?
- 240*340CM, 200*290CM this depends on the size of your sofa is, the size of the carpet under the general coffee table is 160CM*230CM
