- Use carpet tape, even if you have a rug pad beneath it. The tape is double sided and will secure the rug to the pad so it won't shift. You can also secure it with the tape on the border of your rug to prevent shifting.

- You don't have to have a rug on your hardwood floor. I too lived in a home that always had carpets. I wasn't a fan of wood floors. I thought they made the home look to formal and not cozy. Now that I bought my own home.....both the living room and dining room have wood floors. I LOVE them. I don't have an area rug in either room. It's fine. You don't move your furniture that often so scratching the floor isn't really a problem. I plan on leaving the dining room as is, with no rug. However, the living room I am looking for a rug as the walls are beige, the new furniture is brown and the floors are light wood. The room needs color! So, I guess it all depends on the look you're trying to achieve. A rug will make the area look a little smaller, but cozier. It may also help with any echos you experience in the room. The furniture will not look funny without a carpet.

- This depends on yourself, laying a carpet in the living room looks warm and would be more comfortable, sit or lie down on it very casually. But it is not convenient to clean up, personally I love laying carpets beside bed or in front of sofa in the living room. putting the carpet, the whole house will look very warm. If you are afraid that it has trouble cleaning up, you can buy a vacuum cleaner or stick the dust and batting with a duct tape when you have nothing to do, just can be used as a activity after dinner.

- It doesn't matter if just lay a small piece of carpet; but it won't be good if it is full laid because that the heat is difficult to come up, influencing the effect of heating.
- Q: Ok, i have a white area rug that has a few stains, nothing major.. I want to bleach it to not only get the stains out but i also love the smell of bleach, i bleach my blankets and my sheets every week. Im not really worried about ruining my rug, cause its not like its going to get any better. I know that you need to delute the bleach i just dont know how much to delute or how to go about cleaning the rug. Should i just poor it on or use gloves with a sponge and soak the areas?? - Take the rug outside to your driveway. Clean a spot on your driveway (soap and water, brush and rinse). Place the rug on that spot. Dilute bleach 10:1. Use scrub brush with a handle. Scrub. Rinse with hose. Hang to dry.
- Q: I bought a couple of area rugs I have recently moved them have found that the backing is leaving dull looking marks on the wood flooring. How do I remove the marks??
- I would remove the rugs entirely and not use them on the wood. I would use Murphy's Oil Soap to clean it up. Just put it on a rag and test it in one spot before dong it all over. It should clean it up good. If you have to use the rugs, put down a padding especially for under area rugs. They sell them at most of the carpet stores, and maybe the large box stores. Good luck.

- Depends on how big of an area you are talking about and the carpet. I have done it with a high pile carpet by cutting a small slit and injecting glue beneath the carpet and then put weight on it for a while. If it is a low pile carpet you might have a hard time hiding your incision. Maybe if you can get a syringe type injector (meat injector) you can make a small enough hole that's not visible.

- Hi Using a steam-cleaning machine on your carpet will not destroy your carpets. Now after saying this. Using too much water (drying times of over 24 hours) can damage your carpet. Using soap with a PH of 10 and up will damage your carpet. Using a lot of soap can damage your carpet. (Leaves a sticky residue) Carpet manufactures recommends that you clean your carpet every 18 months minimum. From a carpet cleaner of 14 years.

- Clean the rug, ask your local Pet Marts for the best cleaner, it also helps with allergies, I have seen them in the store, sorry, don't remember the brand name right off. Then ask your vet for allergy pills for her....your parents should not have to remove their carpet, there are other solutions, and you could keep her in another room, but that would be said to shut her up alone.. but, when you all are gone, put her in your bedroom, so she won't be on the rug...this will help. good luck
