- Q: What color of the carpet looks good with yellow sofa?
- Pale green is better, coordinating from the color.
- Q: I'm planning on helping my dad put some new carpet in our family room. We measured it and its ABOUT 13.5ft by 13.5ft. Any body know how much that would run for? And our current carpet is the very thin outdoor/indoor carpet. Its ugly and needs to go.
- Deb is basically right but if your going carpet shopping , you need to know the s/f prices. Carpet hasn t been sold by the s/y for almost 10 years . If your doing it yourself, Then yes I d strongly suggest a 15 ft pc.. The average DIV hasnt the tools and skills to do seaming. You can get 15 ' goods at remnant places at time, or you can order it and it s the same price as 12' goods..per s/f. So if your doing 15 x 13.5 thats 202.5 s/f or 203 s/f You can get carpet (just carpet) for as low as 1$ a s/f and if you look at discount places that carry mill ends or discontinued carpet remnants sometimes cheaper. If your haveing it done w/ pad you can start figuring the cost at 2$ a s/f and up depending on the quality.. Any flooring questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
- Q: Their is a black spot on our white carpet. I think it's been their for at least 2 years, but we never realized it was their. We've tried 2 brands of carpet remover, and it only faded a little bit. We tried oxy spot remover, and it didn't do anything, please help.
- Could be that whatever was spilled on the carpet might have molecularly bonded. You might want to try heat and scrubbing. Take wet wash towel and microwave then rub or use an iron over the wet towel directly over it to dislodge the bonding components. CAUTION--the iron method can cause permanent damage to carpet fibers if applied to hot.
- Q: Why does lay carpet under sofa and coffee table
- This should be mainly in 2 aspects, 1: the decorative components are more.2: it also protects the floor (after all, the carpet is active)
- Q: ^tacky? I kinda think so, but I dislike our brown carpet with a passion. Can't rip it out and burn it either so what's a girl to do? Area rug. What color would be good? My drapery is sheer green. Let the creativity flow.Gracias.
- No it would look tacky and cheap!
- Q: I have a cleaning company and am about to start doing carpet cleaning, Im trying to find a inexpensive solution.. that works well..Vinegar or Ammonia?
- Clear club soda works fairly well for spot cleaning on carpets. Club soda is simply carbon dioxide infused under pressure into water. It works in two ways: CO2 in water forms a mild carbolic acid which has an oxidizing effect on many stains; the bubbles go into the carpet fibers and help lift dirt to the surface where you can get it by blotting or with a strong shop vacuum. You can buy club soda anywhere or make it yourself with a soda maker. Lately, I've also been using a solution of Oxyclean for some yellow stains. Of course for greasy stains, a solution of dish detergent used with a fingernail brush works great. (Dish detergent is formulated specifically to capture and hold grease.) I use a solution of vinegar for cleaning piano keys, windows and mirrors but have not found it useful on carpets. Good luck with your new business.
- Q: How do you remove paint from carpet?? It's a reasonably large spot of bright blue paint on cream carpet :S And it's been there for a while too... Any suggestions would be great!
- Firstly, be specific about carpet stains, try water first, before you try any new carpet stain removers. When you use a cleaning solvent, apply it to a cloth, then work it in from the outside of the stain to the center, so you don't spread the spot. The procedure is as mentioned below: Firstly apply the cleaner, extract (blot), rinse, extract, and repeat until you can't get out more of the stain. Always extract solvents completely, then dry the carpet quickly when you are done. If any of the stain remains, deeper down in the carpet, quick drying prevents it from coming up to the surface.
- Q: well lately I pour my semen on the rug when I masturbate:/the day after that area turns rough...Can I clean it with water and soup? :Dany good way to clean the whole mess up?I hate this habit :/
- Since semen is a protein, you can use anything that will dissolve protein stains. Resolve which is for carpets, will get out protein stains.
- Q: I bought an expensive new rug, on the tag it says professional cleaning only, could I still use my vacuum/steam cleaning vacuum?
- Most of the warnings on items that we purchase carry instructions to the extreme. This is because the average American or who ever purchases this item will assume that he knows how to use the product without reading any instructions and proceed to the next step without finding out how the item was meant to be used, in what concentrations, what to avoid doing, and the dangers incurred from misuse of the item. Since your rug was pricey, the company who produced it doesn't want it cleaned by the average Joe who might possibly ruin it, blame the company for poor quality, since it didn't live up to his idea of what a rug should look like when he was through abusing it and demand a refund. Don't snicker, it happens every day. To protect themselves, companies put extreme warnings on products hoping that an intelligent, caring individual, like yourself, will bother to read some of the instructions, however extreme, and put the product in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing - the professionals. Be gentle when you clean this carpet - you've been warned!
- Q: i have a little dog and i'm still training her so i have a carpet cleaner spray i use on her areas that she had an accident on. Well anyway she did her thing inside instead of outside and i grabbed the tilex tile cleaner with bleach instead of the carpet cleaner and now my carpet is bleached in 2 areas! I am moving apartments in a month and i am afraid i wont get my deposit back. Is there any carpet dye or somthing i could do???
- Dying bleach stains in a carpet can be done, but that is something usually best left to a professional. Try contacting local flooring companies, or check your local registry to see if you have someone in your area that does 'carpet repair, or dye'. If the bleach stains aren't very large, then it might be possible to 'swap' a portion of the carpet out of a closet, and patch it. Again, this isn't something I would recommend for a novice. It does take a bit of skill to make a patch that blends in so it isn't visible. Using carpet dye, or patching a carpet, are two things that can very easily end up with more problems than you started with, hehe. In a worst case scenario, the carpet could be replaced.. so it would be a toss up, as to which would be more expensive, losing the deposit, or installing new carpet. Before replacing it, I'd suggest you double check with the apartment management. Many apartment complexes will keep at least a portion of the deposit, for 'cleaning' anyway, so there is a chance you won't get your full deposit back, even if you leave it with absolutely no damage at all. The only way around it would be to hire a professional cleaning company yourself, and that usually costs more than letting the apartment management have their maintenance/cleaning employees do the work. I would recommend that, if you cannot find someone to repair the carpet, that you get some estimates on replacing it. Then, if the apartment management tries to keep the entire deposit, you make them break it down by cost (in writing). If their cost for carpet replacement is higher than your estimates, you've got something you can use to barter with, if it is worth your time. Good Luck
