- Sure a carpet cleaning company would come out for just one room ... and probably charge you way too much! I assume you are renting? Cleaning the carpet should be the landlord's problem, since you just moved in there. It should have been thoroughly cleaned BEFORE the apartment was rented to you. You can rent a Rug Doctor (or similar machine) at most any grocery or hardware store and clean it yourself. Doesn't cost much, and the machines are simple to use.
