- Q: I'm wanting to redo the interior of my car black but they didn't make any stock with black so I can't just buy a carpet mold. Does anyone know where I could get one made? Or even if there's a way I could make one...
- Yes, you can make car carpeting. Just go to any carpet store and buy any carpet you want. You could even carpet your car with shag, if that's what you like (although it will be a lot harder to keep clean than indoor-outdoor carpeting). Use your existing carpet as a template. When you remove the carpet, try to keep it as whole as possible and then just lay it on top of the new carpet for a template. You might have to use books or some other weight to flatten the template, because it's bound to be bumpy after being formed to your car for so long. Then just tape the new carpet in place using carpet tape -- or use glue that's made to adhere to metal. Your car can have any kind of carpet you like. Personally, I would stick with carpets that are easy to keep clean (short-fibered carpets made of nylon), but honestly this is your choice.
- Q: i have two ponies,, [its winter here]the Arab x welsh dosint care Ive only had her a little while i introduced rugs to her, but she defently seams more comfy wearing one and not as tired because she dosint have to bother keeping herself warm [shes in bad shape slowly gaining weight :)]and my shetland pony has been known for her rug fights :D she was an rescue loves her rugs very funny, she has a zillion rugs all for her :) even tough summer she will fight me for the rugs, she will grab onto it with her teeth and play tug of war [i dont tend to pull i wait until she's giving up]i really shouldn't of introduced rugs to her but she loves them :) she wont rip her rugs takes extra special care when going tough the gate entirely different when i put a saddle on gt;.gt;what about your horses?
- My thoroughbred gelding, Booey, loves having all his rugs on except one. We won a woollen one for Champion Hack at a show once, so i use it to throw over him while he is tied to the truck at shows. if he doesn't have a cotton one on underneath, he will rip it off and stomp on it. He must find it itchy or something, i only hand wash it in wool mix same as his stable rugs but he HATES it. Maybe the other horses tease him about it and he is embarrassed?LOL.
- Q: 4 years ago I shortly dated someone in the military who purchased a persian rug for me in afghanistan. I felt guilty keeping it, but he insisted I kept it anyways, and am now wanting to sell it, however I know nothing about it. Are there any websites that can teach me anything about the rug, like to verify it really is a persian rug or values?
- You can read full story at WikiPedia about Persian rugs and its type.
- Q: 1) How often does the average person scrub their carpets?2) How often does the average person scrub their sofa/furniture?
- Carpet manufacturers recommend carpet be professionally cleaned a minimum of once a year. More if needed w/ high traffic etc. Furniture I would assume when needed or some carpet places do that also . GL
- Q: Does the plastic carpet belong to the home textiles
- No
- Q: i have some dirty carpet i was wondering if anyone knows what cleaning stuff can get it out without spending a lot of money
- You can rent a carpet cleaning machine and get the cleaning solution at some convinience stores (i.e. City Market in Colorado). Don`t use a lot of water, it`s the foam what cleans it. Good luck
- Q: Silly Putty dried on my carpet! How do I get it off???
- Step 1: Scrape any excess Silly Putty off the carpet with a butter knife or spatula. Step 2: Spray WD 40 onto rag and gently work it into the spot with remaining Silly Putty. Step 3: Allow it to stand for 20 minutes. Step 4: Gently blot up the area, removing as much of the WD 40 as possible. Step 5: Apply small amount of alcohol to a clean corner of the rag and gently blot any remaining WD 40. If needed, follow up with a small amount of mild soap and warm water. Blot dry with clean, dry paper towel or rag. Step 6: If the stain is particularly stubborn, repeat above steps and gently use a toothbrush to get any remaining particles out.
- Q: I just got an estimate to professionally steam clean a 9 * 12 turkish area rug - the estimate was for $440 which seemed high to me, but I have no reference point - is this a reasonable price? I am located in New York City - Thanks!
- I'll go out on a limb here and guess that $440 is NOT high ... first, it's an Oriental ... second, you are in NYC. And ... it's a big rug! Oriental rugs need to be handled with the utmost care. I would call around to several places for price quotes. I don't actually have a point of reference, either ... but I'm betting that (in your area, at least) you'll find that the price you were given is well within ballpark range. Did you buy the rug new? If so, call the retailer and ask for a recommendation. You may be able to get a break on the price for a referral from the rug seller. If you bought the rug secondhand (or bought it mass-market ... or don't know where the rug originally came from) ... you're probably stuck paying top buck, but BE SURE to get the estimate in writing before you have any work done on the rug!
- Q: Okay, so i spilled sweet and sour sauce all over my living room carpet today. I grabbed a bottle of Zout and started spraying it all over the spot, grabbed some paper towel, rubbed the carpet and dabbed the liquid up. then i sprayed febreze and vaccuumed it. YET THERE IS A REALLY NOTICABLE WHITE SPOT!!! almost like i overcleaned the carpet. the carpet around it is quite dirty, and now there is that one clean spot! what did i do wrong? will this go away? also is it going to smell bad? how do i prevent it from smelling bad?
- Don't use any carpet cleaners. Go old fashioned and use a little bit of club soda and let it soak for up to five minutes. Then take a towel and scrub with force. My great grandma and grandpa always used this. It works on virtually anything
- Q: I'm changing the decor of my room. I have 2 dark blue throw rugs that wont match anymore. Instead of buying new ones, I was thinking of bleaching them, then dying them black. Will that work? if so how can I bleach them? I was going to put them in a tote with bleach and water but im not sure how much bleach and how much water I should use.
- I would forego the bleach step, because it can damage fibers if you use enough bleach to remove the color. Plus, it takes a lot more dye to dye a light color dark. As long as the rugs are natural fiber, I would just dye over the dark blue with black; you should get a richer, darker color black rather than a more greyed-out color.
