Q: I have a 99 Olds Intrigue With the 3.8L (Vin K) engine. I have a belt driven water pump, but i was wondering if there is a fuse or relay that is associated with this water pump. I remember knocking a fuse out on accident while changing my radiator and now the water pump appears to not be working: Sir,you appear to lack basic mechanical skills.Do not ever lift the hood of your car again.

Q: the pump is pumping hot wtaer from the hot water tank around the domestic hot water system, i.e to taps and shower.: Depends on the type of pump, but for your garden variety type pump, there is a impeller of some sort that is turned by the motor to pump the water. The actual shaft of the motor is not in contact with the water (except where the impeller is attached to the shaft). A common type of failure mode here is when the seals on the shaft (which keep the water contained to the impeller area) have failed and water has gotten past the shaft seal and degraded the bearings holding the shaft = seizing up.

Q: My family has a vacation home on the bay side of a small island off the coast of Texas. The house has a water well and uses an electric pump housed in a pump house underneath the structure, which is up on stilts. The house is infrequently used and with the seaside conditions the pump has corroded and will not start automatically. What do I need to do to clean it up so it will function? Q: i have a 99 Mitsubishi Eclipse and my Car started to leak water and as soon as i start to put water it starts to leak and it wont take in the water that has on the side as well. what should i do or what do you recommend?: don,t drive it or it will overheat. it could be the by-pass hose leaking instead of the pump.

Q: We have a low area in our back yard. The previous owner had a pump installed. The flow switch is in the ground at the lowest point of the yard. The actual pump is 2 feet or so, higher up. We have not had to use it much. But last week, when we have the big storm, it stopped working. It some how worked again, but pumping a lot slower, then it stop pumping again. With this pump, I had to add water to get it primed. The last time I try to add water, the water drains instantly. Any one how what could be wrong with it? It was suggest a seal was broken. Thanks for your help.: If you say that the pump is 2 feet higher you must have a hose onthe suction side of the pump it probably has a foot valve on the end of the hose it must be hung open thats why when you try to prime the the the water flows thru check to see if there is any debris holding the check valve open if there is clean it out close the valve prime with water and try to pump

Q: Hubby is trying to change the water pump on our GMC Jimmy. He cannot get the fan off to access the water pump. What is the trick here? He's trying to do more of the maintenance on our cars to save $$$$ --but it sure is a bear!: First look at the new water pump, you will notice the threads are either left or right hand threaded. Once you have determined the thread direction, you will know in what direction to remove the fan. Take a large drift punch and place it on the high side of the fastening bolt. strike it with a hammer and the jolt will loosen the grip of the bolt and allow you to remove it. This may take several tries, but it does work, I have used the process numerous times.
