- Q: so about two days ago i spilt a huge bottle of maple syrup on my carpet. i used some 409 carpet cleaner and i sprayed a lot of febreeze but the entire room still smells like syrup and the area where the syrup spilt has made the carpet really stiff and hard. how do i get the syrup out and make the carpet go back to normal?? i also dont want to use bleach or anything cause then the color change would be noticible
- It sounds like you need to shampoo your carpet. Good luck!
- Q: Will skateboarding on carpet ( or maybe anyhting) with just the skateboard deck ,( no wheels, trucks), improve the actual tricks on the real thing? Thanks.
- First off, the I feel carpet boarding has some merit, even without trucks and wheels. It will definitely help you get the feel for having a board under your feet. It's also very helpful when trying to learn spin tricks (like shuvits and big spins). Having no wheels, you wont have the same friction you would on the street (no wheels to rub against the concrete), but you will be able to learn what it is you need to do to spin the board (and build some confidence after landing on it). Carpet-boarding wont help much with pop-type tricks (ie ollies, kickflips, etc). Sure some of us can do those tricks on decks on the carpet, but it's definitely _nothing like doing it with trucks and wheels (it's actually a lot harder on carpet). Carpet also wont help a whole lot with your balance on the street, even with wheels. With just a deck, you'll be sliding all over the place. With trucks and wheels, the carpet effectively stops your wheels from sliding out from under you, and hence, doesnt require your to keep your weight distributed the same way as you would on concrete.
- Q: I have a brand new rug that is less than a week old. Every time I lift it up and sweep I have piles of white fine powder. That,s at least 3 times a day. Does anyone know what this is. I 'm thinking of taking it back.
- The 'powder' comes from the packing process as well as the glue that holds the pile to the rug base. This is very typical when dealing with tufted synthetic rugs. It can also indicate dry rot or moth infestation but since it is new, it is likely the glue as I mentioned before.
- Q: We moved into a new home, and until we change the carpet out, is there a temporary fix you can use to hide unsightly bleach stains on carpeting?
- My neighbor did that. She bought a box of 94 Crayola crayons and experiment with them until she found a color that matched. She then colored in the spot on the carpet. You have to redo every now and then but it worked. Next time you spill something on the carpet, try using table salt. Just pour it on, let it absorb the wet spot and most of the color will come up. Do not wipe it up just vacuum it up, while it's wet. If the stain is still there do it again. I had to do mine about 3 times but it is hardly noticeable now. My carpet is light tan and the spot was berry red. The spot now is a very, very, pale pink and gets lighter every time I clean it. There is also a cleaner call Krud be gone and Goo gone that may work.
- Q: Is there a way to effectively clean my carpet without buying any special equipment? I live in an apartment building and the carpet here is very dense. Is there a way to get rid of spots and things stuck to the floor? I wouldn't want to spend more than twenty dollars on this. Can anyone help?
- Okay, I had this exact dilemma a few years ago. Buy a big jug of windex window cleaner, even off brand is fine. Take a regular sponge mop and spray the floor with windex and scrub like crazy with the mop. Then when its completely dry vacuum. Simple as that!
- Q: I recently moved and in my old place I noticed that my rug stained the linoleum. Now that I have moved, I really want to take care of my new place and was wondering if there is any way to prevent this staining?
- There are a few types out there ,but the one I m familar with is calles Rug Hold.. It s a thin rubberymat you put under your rugs to hold them down and wont react w/ your vinyl like the backing is know to your vinyl.. Ashphalt drives are a big problem (tracking in the oils) because the petroleum based products react w/ each other and causes the yellow stains you see.. Check any product like this and get the 1 for your needs.. They make them for wood and carpet etc The nice thing is they can be tossed in washer when they do lose tackeyness and be renewedGL
- Q: Best way to clean persian rug?
- There are professional rug cleaners almost anywhere. The best rug cleaners use a long conveyor belt like thing that takes the rug, vacuums it then shoots it with high pressure water and soap mixture while continually vacuuming it back out. The rug is then hung to air dry and is brushed and rolled up.
- Q: my mom wants to get a big but not too big or expense dragon rug. Where can she get it online? That really looks like a dragon? every time my mom searches for dragons rug on the computer she gets weird and not dragon rugs or even close to it. We live in a small town so the stores around here do not any dragon anythings. sO where can she find one that is worth the prices and the right size and looks like a real dragon and not a blob?
- Why not design and create it yourself. Rug hooking is simple enough, and their are sites that can give you other ideas for making rugs.
- Q: How to make a throw rug?
- Area rugs do much more than simply cover your floors. They offer both comfort and style, and with the right positioning, can alter the entire appearance of a room. Standard rectangular rugs provide both utility and elegance while circular and octagonal rugs add a unique look. There are a wide range of sizes and styles available in a variety of colors and patterns, so you're sure to find one perfectly suited to any room or living space in your home. Area rugs can be constructed from a number of different materials as well, giving you even more choices. Selecting the perfect area rug can be simple with the following questions: How large should your area rug be? What style is best suited to the room? What colors and patterns will help you achieve desired effects? What purpose will the area rug serve? What type of fiber is best? Find answers to them according to your room. Hope that helps!
- Q: How do you take rust stains out of carpets
- You can remove rust stains with regular White Vinegar. If the rug is machine-washable, douse the area with vinegar. Let sit for about 15 minutes. Then launder as usual. If the rug is not machine washable, again douse the area with vinegar. Let sit for about 15 minutes. Then scrub the area with shaving cream. Remove the shaving cream with a clean wet rag. It doesn't matter which brand of shaving cream you use...as long as it's the regular white shaving cream. Shaving cream is nothing but whipped soap that rinses out easily. The last thing you want to use on a rug or carpet is overly sudsy soap. -
