- Q: I spilled Coca-cola on my area rug. The rug is relatively inexpensive and I've never spilled liquid on it. I decided it would be a brilliant idea to sop up as much liquid as I could with a towel and paper towels and then pour baking soda all over it, which I then proceeded to rub in. (I know, idiotic). The stain is now hard and crusty and I cant seem to vacuum it out. Any advice?
- Not all is lost. Break up the crusties as much as possible and vacuum, probably just use the hose, not the various heads. Keep doing this until you'd removed as much as possible. If you have a clothes brush, use that to help as you vacuum. When you've done as much as you can, time to switch methods: first put a towel, shower curtain or whatever under your throw rug as you don't want to ruin the floor under neath.......if vinyl.......relax. Anyway. Make a solution of OxyClean.....I'd say a scoop to a quart of warm water.....mix well and then apply it to the stain.........if your carpet doesn't have latex on the back and you can move it to the tub.....pour the Oxyclean over the stain. Otherwise pour a bit on.......1/4 cup or so, rub with your fingers and immediately begin blotting it out with a clean towel......white or light colored just in case you get a color run from the towel. Repeat applying and blotting it up. That should do it. I doubt you'll need the whole quart. OH yes, finish with a clear water rinse and plenty of blotting. Check the towel or whatever underneath and replace it if wet. Let the rug air dry. No hair dryers as heat will set stains. Of course we hope like anything the OxyClean doesn't remove the color from your rug.....if you have bright colors.....use a weaker solution. OxyClean ihydrogenen peroxide which will bleach colors if in a very concentrated formula which it in the in the original mixture I mentioned.
- Q: I have this rug that's in my garage that I want to put in my room. It used to be in my old room when I was younger but I don't want to put it in my room because I had it in my room when I was 12-14 (Now 17) and it was a horrible time, I used to get in trouble,grounded,awkward moments,just horrible stuff. - The years between 12 and 14 are known to be horrible, awkward, catastrophic years for everyone rug or no rug. If you want to purify the rug from any bad qi you should throw salt on it. Salt is a purifier. If you still feel that you are too superstitious and it is really stressing you out put the rug in the garbage.
- Q: why does the floor carpet start showing some wrinkles? too old?
- I can suggest this. I think the best thing is to dampen it a little . You did?t say how large the carpet is, If it?s a wall to wall carpet , the wrinkles should have come out when it was laid, But if it?s a large centre carpet then with a damp sponge go over it and rub outwards.Or turn it over and stamp on it pushing your feet outward?s. I did this with a rug we had stores in the loft, it had been moved around so many times and never put straight. The wrinkles came
- Q: how to stretch existing carpet?
- Believe this or not, it's pretty easy to stretch a carpet and tear it. This is something you have to be careful with. Take into consideration the age etc, be careful and don't overdo it. You can rent kickers and stretchers at many rental places but, like I said, be careful. One kick could ruin your entire carpet.

- Q: Personally, I think they are kind of dumb. They get all messed up, are hard to wash and attract dog hair like no other. Do you think it makes a house look cheesy with no rugs in the bathrooms, entryways etc?
- I need rugs, they preserve my carpet, from my dog's tracking in dirt or mud and people tracking in as well. And, especially in the winter, when people track in rock salt, etc. They are much easier to clean, the ones that are smaller I just throw in the wash. The bigger ones I just use the steam cleaner as I would my carpet. They add detail and color to the room, more than a one color carpet would, and makes it look more spacious. And, they're a lot cheaper than carpet, and when they start looking dingy or ugly, just go out and buy a new one. But, I guess some people don't have rugs, but I can't live without them.

- Q: Just wondering if anyone knows a product that will loosen carpet glue without ruining the finish on a terrazzo floor... the previous owners of our house covered up the terrazzo with carpeting and glued down the padding... not a lot of glue, but enough for me to say bad words, and I'd really like to take some of the carpeting out, but can't afford to have someone else come in to refinish the terrazzo at this point...Anyway, does anyone know of anything I could use?
- complicated one that. Any solvent which will dissolve the glue will additionally dissolve the adhesive protecting the fibre glass jointly. Is it an animal based glue? The scent often supplies that away, form of a fishy scent, like Copydex. i think of the terrific guess is probably a mechanical answer, i.e. scraping it off with a great blade. you may get particular the type to scrape glass sparkling of glue that would desire to artwork.
