- Q:Today I put my green fuzzy rug in the dryer for about 15 minutes to clean it a bit and before i put it in the dryer it was not wet and it was all clumpy when i took it out. I also used an aroma therapy dryer sheet to make it smell good- vanilla. Now it looks like sheep wool on a sheep! I was wondering if you know how to get it back to normal. - Oops! Sounds like you fried the puppy. The entire rug is made of man-made fibers. The heat of the dryer, especially since the rug was dry, melted the fibers. Since it is from WalMart, hopefully it wasn't too expensive. Afraid you can't try to take it back. Best to get another and put the old one in the dog house. Next time you put it in the dryer put the setting on air only.

- Q:Our carpet is 8 years old (because we moved here 8 years ago), severely stained to such an extent that we're ashamed to look at it, has an interesting but unappealing smell, and is all over disgusting. We live in an apartment complex and have been begging for someone to do something about this carpet, however we've just decided to clean it ourselves. There's this Rug Doctor up for rent for a small fee at our local supermarket, and I was wondering if it would do any good. I want a cleaner carpet and gosh darn it, I hope this Rug Doctor can make it one.Would the Rug Doctor work on such a carpet? I am not exaggerating when I say it is dreadful (and I mean exceptionally dreadful).How has it worked for you?

- If it is made of plastic, turn the carpet over to the back and pave it for a few days;If it is a pile material, with only some watering can filled boil cool water to spray water on the carpet, about 10 minutes, and then the hair dryer blowing hair carpet dry, smooth carpets; also can spray a little less water, let dry naturally carpet.
- Q:bought a hookah to celebrate turning 19, and my cat knocked over the hookah while we were smoking. Lets just say there is a nickle sized burn in the carpet. Is there ANYTHING I can do? - Cut out the burnt section and glue in a piece of scrap carpet! Go to a carpet store and get a carpet repair tool. They're only a few bucks. Some adhesive disks and carpet glue. Now take your cutting tool and cut out the damaged section. Be careful to not cut through the carpet fibers themselves. Next cut a replacement section from the donor carpet also being careful not to cut the carpet fibers. Next you will peel off the cover on the adhesive disk and place it in the empty hole. Now put some glue around the edge of the hole and insert your patch trying to match the grain of the carpet. (Carpet has a distinct grain). Press the patch firmly into place and put a weight on top of the area. Let it dry at least twenty four hours before putting the carpet to use.
- Q:My cat got sick a year ago and repeatedly urinated in a corner of a room. The cat is now gone, but I still can smell it sometimes, especially when it's humid. I've shampooed the area probably 15 times and used various enzyme shampoos, treatments. I don't have the money to replace the carpet. I am assuming that the urine is on the pad and flooring. How do I go about cleaning the flooring underneath and replacing the pad, etc. Should I clean the underside of the carpet or just lay in a spare piece?
- Urine can soak through the carpet, down into the pad and subfloor, so surface treatments don't help. Try an enzyme cleaner, such as Nature's Miracle, and use a whole lot of it so that it soaks all the way down to where the urine odor is. If that doesn't work, you may have to cut out that corner of carpet and pad, clean the subfloor (soak with an enzyme cleaner, let dry, and then paint with a sealer), and then have a carpet layer install a new piece of pad and carpeting.

- If you cant vacuum it, will it fit in the dryer? if so put it in there and put it on a cool setting for about 15-20 minutes along with a few dryer sheets if you'd like, just clean out the dryer vent when your done. it works on my rugs. good luck
