Q: my check engine light is on and when auto-zone scanned it, it came up as transmission, well I need to get the hoses in my transmission changed but I was just wondering if that would cause the light to go on. I have a 97‘ plymouth breeze with a 2.0 engine.: A transmission leak would cause transmission failure! It is entirely comprehensible that transmission failure, may cause transmission codes to appear. If your alternator belt has failed, causing your battery light to come on, you probably won't make it more than one or two very short trips. Ps. Good luck!

Q: The headlights now shut off and on, off and on. The car is running ok, but the remote starter will no longer work. The installer was at ABC warehouse in Mount Pleasant Michigan and they talked me into buying a better remote starter b/c the cheapest one would not allow my doors to unlock while the starter was running? I paid 400 $ for this piece of junk. Any ideas one why my lights interior and exterior will turn on and off as they feel like it? Brake lights and turn signals too!: My best guess is it's from poor installation. Sounds like there's a short somewhere that's causing the light relay to shut off. The headlight relay cuts power when there's too much draw on the system, then when the relay cools down, the lights come back on. A continuous short will cause the light to go off and come back on on a steady basis, a temporary short will cause it only when there's a short, so it could do it at times, then stop for a while. This is generally caused by a positive wire to the headlights being grounded against metal somewhere. They likely either hooked up to a wrong wire, or pinched or pierced a wire when installing the system. Take it back to the installer and tell them what's going on, since it happened right after they installed the system, it's almost certainly their fault and their responsibility to fix it. Could be something with the system itself, too, but either way, it's their problem and they need to fix it.

Q: I bought a part at Auto zone and want to return it if it‘s not the piece causing the check engine light to come on, but I need to know how many miles I have to drive before the computer will run another check.: as soon as you start it and while your driving it . it checks it all the time

It‘s a 86 528e: All that is covered is the physical act of pulling the old tire off if the rim and the installation of the new tire. Balance should be part of the package but read the paperwork. Getting rid of the waste tire is something that the shop pays for so you will be helping with that part. The work order will list all that is covered and what else you will be paying for.

Q: I just got this check engine light. I‘m pretty sure my car is well kept.I need to change the spark plugs sometime, according to the maintenance schedule.The only thing I have done different is put in 0% ethanol fuel (no added ethanol) in the vehicle (which I thought was great at the time!). Now, the gas has done pretty well (xD!), but this engine light is on.I read the code and it is p0456, which is associated with emissions. So something between the gas tank and the engine is leaking.Could it be the fuel? Should I just wait and see next time I load up on ethanol % (boooo!) fuel? Should I just change the gas cap and see? Thanks for the help.: Most times a gas cap does fix those codes. I only replace with dealer caps because aftermarket ones can cause problems. Here in the northeast the 2nd most common cause is rotted out fuel filler necks. 3rd are evaporative vent solenoids. They vent fumes into the atmosphere when needed.

Essentially that's your computer-controlled traction control system. I did that, unplugged my battery to reset my system, and check engine light came BACK on.My father and stepdad both think it‘s probably the o2 sensor.What is that, and is it expensive to have done?: many people make the mistake of going to autozone and having their codes read.autozone is in the parts selling buissness not the auto repair buissness.maybe theres more to the story than you wrote in your question,,,,but them telling you to change plugs was wrongyou have already spent money that may not have been needed now your giong to spendanother 100 on a o2 senser on a guess.sorry but todays cars need diagnostics run on them by a qualified tech with modern equipment,,,parts are to expensive just to take a guess at whats wrong(unless you want to start a relationship with the guy at autozone).its hard to believe that a 04 corolla needs a cat,and your dad could be right but unless u have somebody that knows what they are doing look at this issue.u could be spending lots of money and your car will still have a ses light on .
