Q: something with my Tempnow my thermostat is going crazy, it goes up to the red and then back down, when i drive it stays down, if i sit in traffic it starts to overheart, I do have a coolant leak, had it for 1 year and no mechanic can ever find the leak, also my heat is not workingI will be taking it to a mechanic today but wanted someone opnion of what it could be and how much you think the cost will be: Low coolant or air in the coolant system, will cause the vehicle to overheat, heater not to work, and erratic temp gauge. So that answers your currant symptoms. Do you have the 3.4 liter v6? If so, the coolant system needs to bleed after you fill the coolant. Looking at the motor, there should be a bleeder on the passenger side, front by the belt. There might be another one on the driver side by the thermostat. Loosen these, fill with coolant. Start the car and let it warm up. While it is warming up, you will see coolant, and air sputtering out of these bleeders. Wait until it is a solid stream of coolant, then close them. Top off the coolant and you are done. Now where is the coolant going. If it is the 3.4 v6 the motors are infamous for intake gaskets, and head gaskets going bad. Check the oil, to see if coolant is showing up in there. If not do a compression test on the motor. Willing to bet that head, or intake gaskets are bad, and that is where the coolant is going. If it is deemed the intake gaskets are bad, might as well spend the extra and have the headgaskets changed. You will save in the long run. Hope it goes well.

Q: This morning I was driving my girlfriend to work and the check engine light came on. Took it to the auto parts store to get it scanned and it gave me a code of P0440 Evaporative Emissions System. I texted ChaCha and asked them how to fix the problem. They answered back and said Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back. This should fix the problem. To me it seems like that fix wouldn‘t work but I was wondering if that‘s true? Q: I have a 1996 Mazda Millennium that the battery would always go dead on me if it sat for a couple of days. Had battery checked and charged, and it checked good. So i changed the alternator and the light is still on. What do you think is wrong?: If the light is still on you still have a problem. Have your charging system checked at almost any auto parts store. Unless the new alternator is faulty its probably the battery.

Q: I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 pick up with a v-6 engine. The previous owner had installed an alarm system but kind of half disconnected it; you still have to hit the alarm button before you can start it, which I like but there‘s no sound. The problem I am having is that the bing bing bing bing bing sound happens EVERY TIME I open the door. It should only happen when the key is in the ignition or when there‘s a light on, but it happens every time the door is opened. How do I fix this? Do you think it has something to do with the alarm system, maybe a wire got crossed somewhere?: Sounds like the alarm system is the problem. You'll need to get a detailed wiring diagram for the ignition system and one for the alarm, then start tracing wires. Only other way, is to take it to an auto electrical shop (not an installer) and have them go through it.that will be pricey. Doing it yourself is very time consuming.good luck!

Q: The service engine light came on in our car this morning after getting gas so we thought it was just the gas cap but took it to auto zone to be sure. They said it was an egr or ezr (not sure which) valve and sensor and that it may just need sprayed with wd40 to get it to open up and if not and has to be replaced its a $170 part. Is my car still drivable for the time being until we can figure out how we‘re going to potentially come up with $200?? My husband drives our car 100 miles a day to and from work so please use that in saying whether or not its driveable.: the egr dilutes the mixture in the engine and this lowers the temperature in the cylinders if you notice any pinging sounds under load this is how damage to your engine can occur if it sounds ok you should be safe driving it until it is fixed. no promise. good luck.

Oil temp stay around in blue line And i noticed this morning car bit harder to drive Before oil change everything was ok i change oil because i drove car with almost 8000 i usually change oil 8000 to 9000 Car mileage 117209: It is just a coincidence that the Engine Management Lt should come on after the servicing. Your mixture of different grades of oil does not do any harm to your engine. Have oil is better than no oil. The light is most reliable to inform you what is wrong with your car. One of the engine sensors has failed (or value is out of range). Read out this defect with your mechanic's diagnostic scantool, replace the faulty sensor, and delete the memorised fault. I believe your engine is healty as you change the oil regularly. It is commendable. Happy motoring.

Q: i have a system and everyone has told me i need to upgrade to better alternator because my lights dim when the bass hits. can anyone tell me where i can find a performance alternator for a descent price. checked auto zone and advanced already thanks: eBay baby I got mine there for about the same price that a local shop would charge me for a new one. The only difference is that the shop would keep my original. On eBay I got to keep mine as a back up. If you do get a high output alt. you'd be glad you did but you gotta make sure you upgrade the big 3 well good luck!
