- Adding onto what Terrance said. Take off the gas cap and put it back on tight after a minute or so. THEN, disconnect the negative side of the battery for a minute, then reconnect it. 98% of the time, the light will go out and stay out. Did this on my 2001 Civic and also on my 1997 Accord over the last year and the lights never came back on. O yea, and it only came on due to the fact my 18 year old daughter put gas in the car. Need I say more?

- I have one more simple one.disconnect your positive bat. post for 15-20 seconds and reconnect. The light may be telling you that it is time to do something. if you have the book check to see what is supposed to be done maint wise with the mileage that is indicating on the odometergood luck

- I had the same thing with my 99 Alero. It's more annoying than anything. It's the ABS sensor that is going bad or has gone bad. The sensor is in the wheel bearing so the only way to fix it is to replace the bearing.
- Q: ok i own a 2000 silverado 4.3L Vortec engine. last year i put true duals, no muffler but the cats still there. the cats have been burned through and are jut pipe basically now. anyway the o2 sensors along the right pipe are ruined one is cut off and the other is melted to the pipe. the right pipe is questionable. anyway i recently put a cold air intake on with stock tubing. i used the old sensor thing with the electrical plug. i decided to just run the filter literaly on the intake manifold. the truck actualy runs and the service engine soon light went off????? so i took it for a drive and it runs great!!! better than ever and i can hear the filter. i like it but i noticed my transmission cause its auto that it is shifting a lot smoother and actualy faster. like short quick shifts.!! i plan on running it like this permenantly is that good idea???
- I think your check engine light just burned out! Go to an auto parts place that checks computer codes for free. You probably have several codes, but the computer is managing the engine on get home settings. You vehicle will not pass inspection!
- Q: had dead batt now it‘s gone crazy when i went to jump start it the alarm went bannanas but hear the problem bought the truck used and had no idea it ean had an alarm to get it to stop the noise i cut the horn/siren now the blue light flashes all the time never flashed b 4 and its makeing a quite clicking noise like every 30 seconds .so with no remote what would you do btw its a 1999 burban
- is it an after market alarm or is it factory fitted to the car? If it is factory fitted you should be able to get a remote from the manufacturer, if not, your gonna have to remove the alarm system. can be tricky because there are heaps of wires hooked up to the control module.

- well with out the codes its hard to say buy if it went out when you tightened the gas cap then came back on later then there could be a small leak in the system and turning on the engine light.
