Q: The car had it‘s transmission replaced last year and it felt somewhat similar when the transmission was going. It has 120k miles and other than the transmission has always been a trooper. It hasn‘t stalled yet at a low speed but it feels like it‘d like to. Anyone have any guesses? Is the check emission light and check engine light the same on this car? Pretty terrified.
Use hot, soapy water. Palmolive or Tide would do well. But blot don't rub or scrub because you may enlarge the stain. Be sure to use hot water rinse once the stain is out to remove the soapy residue.
Q: I have a 1998 Honda civic ex with 76,400 miles on it. my check engine light turned on yesterday morning i plan on taking it to autozone but wanted to know if it was something i can fix myself.
Ditto what Judith said, but my Saturn Ion does that, and no codes come up when I scan, so I disconnect the car's battery for 30 seconds, which clears the memory, and drive until it comes on again, which took 8kmi last time, so it hardly ever happens, and I see no reason to fix what's not broken. Try it, you might like it, or if it really is something, it'll show right back up again.
Q: this evening I let me battery die, by accident of course and got someone to jump the car, the car came on fine and I started driving and I noticed my airbag light was on, on the dashboard it didnt come on until after the battery died and got restartedcould anyone tell me why that light is on?or will it go off next time I start the car?i‘m scared, driving with an airbag light on cannot be good.
Check the fuse. Also, check the codes(from the computer using jumper wire in the buss line connection in the ignition wiring harness) from the repair manual(if even possible on your car). Or of course take it to a shop, let them figure it out.but you should be fine to simply drive it. Just no air bags for now. Don't hit or get hit. :)
Q: I have a 2000 Toyota Corolla that the check engine light came on and every time I go to advance auto parts to check what it is saying system to leanI get them to take it off and it come on again.I decided it was time to change my spark plugs and airfilter. It still came on again. I went to take it off. Guess what? It came on again.I am thinking it could be something wrong with the oxygen sensor or the catalytic converter(which is not easy nor cheap to replace!!!).Anyway, it costs $85 to know EXACTLY what's wrong with it at the Toyota DEALERSHIP?!! should I take it in? I really don't totally trust these people because they usually try to milk your pocket and get you to change things you don't need to change!
You already spent money on spark plugs and an airfilter that did not help. Many things could cause a lean condition, not necessarily a bad O2 sensor.
Q: The other problem i‘m having with my caddy is every time i make a sharp turn my truck bucks as if its going to stall, i press on the gas pedal to give it more gas but it doesn‘t help, open to suggestions i perfer to try and fix it myself !! Please Help
I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU GET YOUR VEHICLES COMPUTER SCANNED TO FIND OUT JUST WHAT THE PROBLEM IS FIRST SO THEN YOU WILL HAVE SOME IDEA WHAT IS WRONG AS WELL AS WHAT TO EXPECT. TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR ANY CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE PERSONAL SERVICE THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE.
Q: It is a 3.0l OHV flex-fuel vehicle. The dealership says its a fouled up injector but they wont show a printout of the computer reading so i cant be for sure. If there is anybody who has same problem or knows the answer I would really appreciate it!
if the light only comes on when you use the e85, that tells me that the sensor that determines the fuel type is at fault or the system tied to it. go to auto zone and ask them to scan for codes, they will do it more that likely and with a greater service than the dealer.
Q: The ATTS light came on in my prelude. Whats it mean and what should I do.
Something is wrong with your Active Torque Transfer System. Essentially that's your computer-controlled traction control system. If you don't want to take it in to a mechanic (for this I'd recommend someone that specializes in Hondas), you could use a code scanner to download the error codes from the computer to get more information. Most auto parts stores will have one you can borrow for free to use in the parking lot.
Q: ok took car to Auto Zone due to engine light being on. At first they said it was the Temperature sensor the one that tells the fans to go on and off. But now the light still on. I disconnected the battery but light still stays on. So took it back to Auto Zone were they tell me it something to do with my Cat converter or my Oxygen sensors are giving bad reading. But before took it to another place I had them put there computer on and two errors came up. CAT converter and temperature sensor. They told me not to worry about the CAT converter and go ahead change the temperature sensor and the light should go out but that not the case. What do I do. I don‘t got munch $$$$ right now. between paying bills. should I take it to the dealer I bought it from since I am still paying on the car? They have a shop. Bought the car the car 1 year ago this coming January. Can anyone tell me what the most common thing that goes out oxygen sensors or CAT converter? The car only 4 years old with 70,000 miles on it.
This is why I don't like places like Autozone. It's great that they scan the codes for free but that's all they're good for. The mere fact that they told you the cat converter code won't turn on the light shows that they don't know what they're talking about. They're not mechanics, they're not service writers.they're mindless idiot part jockeys that can order up some brake pads for you. Without knowing the code it's impossible to tell you if it's the O2 sensor or the converter. If it was a converter efficiency code(which some people will think it's an O2 sensor code) that means the converter is going.but have no worries.if it's the factory converter it has a 8yr/80K mile warranty but you have to go back to a GM dealership for that. As far as the temp sensor.again we'd need the code. Are the fans coming on? Has the car overheated at all? I know $$ is tight but you need to bring it to an actual shop and let them diagnose it.listening to a mindless parts jockey will not only waste your time but more importantly waste your $$$ but buying the wrong parts because some tool behind a counter said so. So post up the codes please. Good luck! Email me if you have any other questions. EDIT: Djman is exactly what I'm talking about.to heck with having it diagnosed.just throw parts at it right? After enough $$ has been spent and enough parts have been thrown at the problem it'll eventually fix it right? Again, go to a real shop so there is no guessing, no speculation. At the very least you'll know what the problem is and if it's something you HAVE to fix ASAP or something you can let go until $$$ gets better. But again if it is that converter and it's the original GM one it's covered under the 8yr/80K mile emissions warranty.but what do I know? I only do this every day lol
Q: hi, i drive a 1999 ford ranger and for some reason my brakes have been really crappy lately. Starting at about the same time the snow came in late december my brakes started to feel gritty and made a noise with it. I thought because no lights were on in my truck it was just the snow but today when i was backing up my breaks felt like they went away all together. when it stopped i turned the truck of then on again and the breaks were back but the abs and break lights came on. i don‘t want to put myself in a bad situation so what could it be? thank you in advance.
Good question. You need a shop level scanner to diagnose ABS system fault codes. Guessing no bueno.
Q: higher speed focusing in very low light with a D700 and SB800 flash ?
