Q:The engine need service soon light was on in my vehicle last week. I suspected it was the bad fuel I put in since it turned on immediately after I pumped at Costco. I was busy and did not have a chance to go to my auto shop. Yesterday, I found the warning light was gone. It contradicts my general understanding that once the light is on, you need a device to turn it off. Will it be something like if you wait long enough, the bad thing will go away by itself?
it depends what it was. the check engine light just tells you there's a code stored in the computer's memory. you need the code reader to retrieve the code. my guess is your gas cap wasnt tightened properly after you filled up at costco, throwing a #1443 code, indicating a problem in the evaporative emissions control system (EEC). a loose gas cap will bleed off the vacuum pressure the vehicle uses for the test, causing you to fail the test after you drove away from costco. or it could be some other thing that shows up intermittently. you need to pull the codes stored in the memory to know for sure what happened after you filled up. the gas smell sounds like a seperate problem that occured before you drove away from costco and got an error code. could be a fuel leak somewhere. in newer cars, just turning the key to the on position will power the electric fuel pump. turn off the radio and fan and when you turn the key you'll hear the pump whirring for about a second in your fuel tank, pressurizing the fuel system to feed your injectors the instant you start the car. just turn the key on a few times and leave it on and then go follow your fuel lines to your fuel rail and down each injector and see if you see any fuel leaks. open the hood and use your nose to see if you smell gas. you could have a bad fuel pressure regulator or some bad o-rings, cracked injector, fuel filter

The codes need to be checked and then the sensors that are showing the fault need to be tested properly. I have seen many fault codes set be an external problem other then the sensor that set the code. Get a diagnostic check at a shop , this usually will cost about one hours labor. This way you will not be throwing parts you dont need at your car. The auto parts stores want to sell parts and the scan of a fault will not let you know if the sensors are functioning.
Q:I have a 96 chevy cavalier that I had to get work done on last year for a new fuel line. Soon after that, the gas tank was leaking. Mechanic said there was no connection, 2 seperate incidents. I had him patch up the gas tank for cheap. So fast forward 12 months later and I can‘t get my tag because I can‘t get emissions because all of the sudden my check engine light is on. I took it to advance autoparts to have their computer read my car‘s computer for a reason and he mumbled something about emissions error and then immediately said it was the gas cap. I checked the gas cap and it was good and tight and nothing wrong with it. The other day I smelled gas inside my car. I can‘t help but wonder if the patch job that the mechanic did has worn out and my gas tank is leaking again causing my check engine light to come on? If somebody could please help with some advice. I am inbetween jobs right now and I need to get my tag and can‘t afford to have my car repaired.
Mine turned out to be just that the new locking gas cap I had put on wasn't tight enough one time, and the light stays on until a mechanic turns it off or until the battery is disconnected for a few minutes (Careful! If you have a theft-deterrent radio system, you will lose your radio code if you disconnect the battery and will need to re-enter it. But you have that written down in your files, don't you?) My mechanic was honest, said the computer said Fuel system leak but to check my gas cap. He turned the light off, I drove 50 miles and came back, with the light now off, and everything was fine.
Q:stopped at autozone and had computer hooked to it.what came up wasevaporative emmission system my vehicle is running great !so i am do for an inspection,will i be able to disconnect the battery and shut off the light just so it passes inspction(it is a 2005 astro van)?also when i go for the inspection is the tool they use different than the tool auto zone used?if not the code will show up anyway? any help
eh just get normal ones. its cheaper. tons of people need braces, who cares? best just save the money, thats what i would do. it depends on how bad your teeth are and how long you're gonna need the braces on. mine were pretty messed up but i only had them for 2 years but it came to about 8 grand, in california.
Q:I went to start it on my lunch break yesterday and it was dead. I called AAA and they came to jump it and also did a test and said the battery tested fine, but it was dead again when I left work. After jumping it, driving it for 45 min and then leaving it running (lights, radio, etc turned off) for 20 min at home, it would not start again an hour later. The car has 100,000 miles on it and it is still the original battery. I have never had issues with it before. In fact, I have left interior lights on for hours and was surprised how long the battery lasted before it died. I'm really hoping I just need to replace the battery and not the alternator or something else. Anyone have any ideas?

The airbag light only comes on when the key is in the on position,comes on and goes out 6 seconds after car is started and when there is a fault in the airbag deployment system or passenger presentation wire under the passengers seat came un-hooked. A couple days later the light will go out but both airbags will be deactivated if the light is on or not,so I suggest you get it fixed.

Alternator going or is bad and doesn't keep the battery charged. Go to auto parts store and ask them to check battery and charging system. They usually all do it for free.

The difference between what are called light or heavy loads is mostly a combination of two things shot charge weight and velocity(sometimes expressed as dram equivalent). In the simplest description: standard target loads would be light 7/8oz shot with 2 1/2 dram equivalent(1,200feet per second) or any other at 1,165-1,210fps. the over 1 ounce weight and/or high velocity 2 3/4 loads would be heavy loads 1oz 2 3/4 dram for 1,220fps or 1 oz1,300fps Many older designs have a piston or buffer that can be flipped over or changed out to optimize operation with either category. However, all auto loading systems may still have issues with really mild loads such as Remington's Managed-Recoil line or similar loads.
