THANX: You do not need a new wiring harness. This could be a couple things. First check the lights and make sure they all have the correct bulb. In some vehicles if you use a 1156 or 2056 in place of a 1157 or 2057 it will backfeed into the other side and cause some strange things to happen. The reverse lights is a whole different problem. You have a problem w/ the reverse switch (most are in the steering column.not a fix for the inexperienced) There is also a possibility that the bulbs are simply burned out or the fuse is blown (if you replace it and it blows again you have a short somewhere in that circuit). The problem you're having could also be the turn signal switch itself. In vehicles that use the same bulb for the brake and turn signal, the brake lights run through the turn signal switch (also inside the steering column). I actually replaced one of these in a '96 Buick just yesterday.

Or, you can go to an auto parts store, and they should be able to turn the light off if OBD2.

Q: The problem was just that gas cap was loose. How do I turn the check engine light off? Thanks: You *could* get new, smaller rims and re-lace your hubs. With a car people get lower tires to get the car lower. With a motorcycle a lower tire will screw up with your handling, will not be able to take curves as well,scraping the bike in slower curves. If all you want to do is park it and look at it, you can re-lace your hubs for a smaller, lower tire. If you want to actually *ride* you will want to keep close to the stock tires.

Q: I had my engine light come on, i went to auto zone and they scanned my car and got a error code that said Massive Leak in the Evap System. They convinced me it was probably a result of a worn gas cap. Thus I bought a new cap $10. The problem still persists.I disconnected the battery to try to clear the ecm, did not work.What are the possible leaks?What does the leak mean?How do I clear the error if I don't fix the leak?: a large evap is sometimes the gas cap but you have done this already,take it to a gm dealer and they will put it on a smoke machine,it fills the system up with smoke and if there's a leak it will show up,may cost a bit,or you might have to get a mechanic to use a scan tool to clear the code,dc the battery doesnt always work,hope that helps.

What would case this?Thanks!: Was that tranny repaired by the Soup Sandwich Transmission Shop? Soup sandwich is a military term for F--ked Up! They obviously boogered something up when they dropped the tranny. You need to have the car physically inspected by a 3rd party shop and they can look at the wire harness and the numerous sensor plugs on the wire harness that maybe have been unplugged or damaged if they didn't disconnect the wire harness from a secured strap on the tranny housing. If they didn't disconnect this wire harness when they dropped the tranny, they might have broken several engine sensors when the wires were yanked by the weight of the tranny being lowered. Or they may NOT have secured the engine with a cross brace bar that hold the entire weight of the engine when they remove the tranny so it doesn't fall down or fall back against the firewall. If the engine falls back against the firewall, it can crush the wires inside the wire harness or completely cut them in half when the weight of the engine pinches them against the firewall. Might want a new car dealership to do the inspection and diagnostic in case you need to go to small claims court later to collect some cash. If this was a reputable tranny shop, they will make it right without being sued. Good Luck!

Q: 2001 Chevy Cavalier, bi-fuel.: First of all, you cant just get the light turned off and pass emmissions. The monitors will not be ready and you will fail. Secondly, replacing the battery wont reset the memory. You did what you could do, replacing the cap which was the correct thing to do (and cheapest). Now what you need to do is go to a shop and pay to have the system smoked. This will identify the source of the leak. Most of the time the actual repair is very inexpensive however most reputable places will charge one hours labor 100 dollars for the diag fee.
