Q:I use a Nikon D90 in a no/low light situation for concerts where flash i strictly forbidden. The issue is that the AF assist illuminator light is way to white and bright to be used in this circumstance. It just to closely resembles a flash and will get be booted and blacklisted from certain venues. So the question is this. Is there an accessory or workaround for improving the ability of the cameras auto focus without using the bright white light that is the assist lamp? It looks like the speed light accessory have a red autofocus lamp but that you would have to shoot with a flash to use it? What about a gel pack, or similar over the existing lamp?: As previous poster stated, faster lens may help. The AF assist light is very annoying, thus it is best to disable it in concert venues. Another thing you can do is focus on a contrasting edge that has enough light that is the same distance as your subject. You can try focus on eyes or eye glasses. You need to set your camera so the focus zone is fixed (usually the center zone) and lock the zone using the lever switch just below and to the left of your 4-way selector (page 56 in your manual). The lock prevents the 4-way selector from moving the focus zone. Then, set your auto focus function to AF-S (page 54 in your manual) to lock your focus when you depress the shutter half way. After you lock your focus, you can compose and shoot. I've used this technique shooting stage shows and dance venues with the given lighting. Be sure to set your white balance. Usually, tungsten or use the Kelvin setting to get the white balance right. Shooting in manual mode is helpful. Stage event lighting is tricky for an auto exposure system to get right. Set your LCD monitor to highlight mode so you can see overexposed areas (page 163).

Q:Does anyone have a problem with Sony HVR-Z7 when shooting in a room that have strip lights?: The cycle rate of the lamps is conflicting with the scan rate of the camera. A common problem. First thing to do is to take control of the white balance, if you are using auto WB this will accentuate the problem, so either set a manual WB under the strip lighting, or use a preset and fix in post, auto uses a tracer system which is confused by strip lighting. If your camera has the option you may want to try recording in clearscan mode (my Sony DSR-570 has it, as do the Canon XM2 and XL2, don't know about the Z7) and get the scan of the chip in synch with the scan of the lights. The only other options involve using a slower shutter which can affect other motion, or shooting in porgressive mode, which again will affect motion. A third way is to deinterlace in the edit, though this is at the expense of horizontal resolution.

Q:2006 G35 Sedan.Service Engine Soon (check engine light) came on. Took it to local auto parts store, ran a free diagnostic. Gave me code P0420 which reads --- Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) No other codes are with it. Just that. Randomly happened as I was driving home from work.So whats the difference between Bank 1 and Bank 2? Since my issue is only bank 1. Passenger side?? Does that help me find out what is causing this code of P0420 that I have??Honestly I haven‘t had any bad issues or symptoms. Gas mileage is still fine, no problems idling, going uphill, flooring it, or anything. Car doesn‘t smoke, any still runs like new. Just with this code on. I did notice that one day, it came on. went to bed and started it in the morning and it was off. But then came on again in a few days. Been on ever since. What does this code tell me? Bank 1 just means it is the ban 1 cat that is bad if you have a dual system. If you only have 1 pipe, it is always called Bank 1

And recently my coolant light started coming on and i will fill the coolant up and the coolant ain‘t cheap lol and when i look in the reservoir the coolant is empty and the coolant light blinks on and off and the engine light comes on when the car get‘s warmed up and it still idles real rough and it takes long to shift idk what‘s going on someone please help me: For the check engine light, go to a parts store and have them use their OBD scanner to diagnose why the light comes on. The coolant light means that the cooling system is low on fluid; might be a leak in the hoses, a bad thermostat, or other things. Have the auto parts person look at it or go to a mechanic. You need to get both fixed ASAP before more problems occur
