Q: I want to put LED lights under my passenger and driver side foot area? How would I install the lightings?: There are a few different approaches you can use to acheive the desired effect. I've added custom lighting similar to what you're looking for to many of our restoration projects. I would begin by removing the front seats. 4 bolts and a little manuvering to get them out is worth the time saved trying to work around them. Next you'll need to find a suitable mounting location under the dash. Be very watchful of what you're considering running a screw into. In many vehicles the ducting is accessible under the dash. A hole here will cause the system to leak and due to expansion/contraction will eventually cause the LED light fixture to fall out. As far as getting power to the fixtures find your fuse box and install a new line. Most boxes will have 1 or 2 empty slots that you can use for accessories. If you don't have experience running a new line from a fuse box you can purchase a stacked connector at any auto parts store. This will allow you to pick a currently active fuse (radio for example) and piggyback off it's power source. This will also ensure the light fixtures only receive power with the ignition on. Custom lighting is just thatbe creative. A slow and steady approach is much better than haphazardly mounting crap under the dash and duct taping wires. Take your time, read the LED light manufacturers recommended voltage/amp levels and get to work. Hope this helps!

Q: My battery light on my car was on the other day and than my car would not start. We took in to a auto store to be read and charged. They couldn't not charge it. So we replaced it with a new battery. But my battery light is still on and will not go off.: Take it back to auto shop and have them read the charging system and see if the alternator is putting charge into the battery.If not replace alternator they sometimes won't put enough charge into system also check the belt make sure its tight. hope this helps

Q: I‘m having a problem with my a/c system. the interior lights on the controls no longer come on, and many things don‘t work anymore. the fan comes on blows air, but it‘s no longer heated. and the ducts don‘t move either, for when you want the air from the outside vs inside air circulation. everything was fine yesterday until the thermostat housing was attempted to be taken off.the last bolt wouldn‘t come off. and the housing has shifted a bit from its original place, and wont be budged back. could this have anything to do with it. i checked all fuses and they work fine. any solutions?: If you want heat, it's carried by the engine coolant. If the engine thermostat housing isn't closed tight, the coolant will all leak out and not carry heat anywhere- the heater, the radiator- not anywhere, and it will stay where you don't want too much of it- in the engine. The engine will overheat very quickly without coolant in it and be damaged badly. The interior heating ducts are controlled, often, by engine vacuum carried by little hoses and some may have gotten knocked loose. Some cars do this wth cables and levers instead of vacuum. You need to look in a good auto repair manual like Chiltons and see where everything related to heating and cooling belongs and make sure it's still there. But before you try to start the engine, fix the thermostat housing. Get a friend who knows about these things to help you and don't let it get dark before you finish working. Since the heater lights don't come on anymore, find the wire that got knocked off and plug it back. How do bolts on an engine near a thermostat get stuck? Maybe it's rusted in place, or stuck with block sealer that was used to stop a leak. Leak stop with sodium silicate will do that, and that's about the best kind of sealer, but the problems it can cause are what you have. I hope you never have to take the head off- some of the head bolts might be stuck too and they are extremely hard- I wouldn't want to have to try and drill out one, and you'd need a diamond drill, or at least carbide. If you break the thermostat bolt, you'll have to drill it out and tap new threads in the hole so a new bolt will go in and hold. That simple job got very complicated, didn't it.

Q: I have a Camaro SS 2001 and the headlights and interior lights like dim and flash, I think it is because of my head unit taking up the power from the battery or something. Q: I just had my car serviced about two months ago. I drive longs distances quite a bit, and I‘ve driven 1400 miles since I had my car serviced. But about a month ago the service engine soon light came on, and won‘t go off. I am thinking it might be a O2 censor or something but I don‘t know. And I don‘t have the money to go get it checked out, but if someone could give me advice, I can fix smaller stuff by myself (i.e. spark plugs, O2 censors, etc.). Does anyone have an idea of why this light won‘t go off?: Some of these folks are clueless. the service engine soon light comes on at different mileage intervals to remind you to take the car in for scheduled maintenance. It has nothing to do with the check engine light and problems. On Hondas, you push in and hold the trip reset button and then turn the key on until all the warning lights come on. In about 8 seconds or so, the service light will go out. Maybe your library will have a book on your car and let you know how to reset it. Or, find an owner's forum for your make of car and ask how to reset it.
