- Q:There are some other similar questions about this but can‘t find the righ answer. Here‘s what happened. My girlfriend and I cleaned the carpet on her 02 Honda Civic LX. So for better access, we removed both front seats. When done, we wanted to move the car foward a lil bit so I started up the car (this is with no seats) and moved it. After installing the seats back and connecting the cables for the seat belt restraints, we turned on the car once again and the SRS light was showing. I‘m pretty sure it went off when we started the car with no seats the firs time but did not realized it untill we were done. So my question is, how can I remove the freaking light? I tried disconnecting the battery for like an hour with no change. All cables are connected properly. Would a scan tool remove the light? If so, is it safe to do it and would all restraint systems will work normaly?
- Yes, you need an OBDI scan tool. If you connected everything correctly, it will be ok.
- Q:I have a 96 chevy cavalier that I had to get work done on last year for a new fuel line. Soon after that, the gas tank was leaking. Mechanic said there was no connection, 2 seperate incidents. I had him patch up the gas tank for cheap. So fast forward 12 months later and I can‘t get my tag because I can‘t get emissions because all of the sudden my check engine light is on. I took it to advance autoparts to have their computer read my car‘s computer for a reason and he mumbled something about emissions error and then immediately said it was the gas cap. I checked the gas cap and it was good and tight and nothing wrong with it. The other day I smelled gas inside my car. I can‘t help but wonder if the patch job that the mechanic did has worn out and my gas tank is leaking again causing my check engine light to come on? If somebody could please help with some advice. I am inbetween jobs right now and I need to get my tag and can‘t afford to have my car repaired.
- when you have an emissions error read from a check engine light it means that there is not the correct amount of pressure in the tank. 95% of the time this is from someone not tightening down the gas cap all the way. after it is reset and you tighten the cap it should not come on again. if it does then you are in the other 5% category and need to get it thoroughly checked out. hope this helps
- Q:did it . now driving it in to word the windshield wipers were very slow making me think it not charging. any ideas???? already cleaned posts. already put new battery.
- DUH? OK. If you have a brand new battery and it's not charging, and If you're smarter than the people at Auto Zone who already told you what the problem is. what do YOU think is wrong with it?
- Q:What is the benefit of ordinary car lights and xenon lamps?
- Much lighter than ordinary light, penetrating a lot better. I heard that the three sons to send 15W car, landlord to see it.
- Q:Does anyone know how to reset a check engine light on a 1995 honda civic?I live in NYS and I just want to pass inspection. I just lost my job and don‘t have the $$$ to actually fix the problem right now. Again, I just want to pass my inspection. Someone told me that if you unplug the positive terminal of the battery, wait about 20 minutes, then replug it in the codes should be reset and it will be off for a while.Does anyone know if this is true? If so, how long will it last? Thank you in advance!
- Unplug the battery and open the door if you have interior lighting, turn the headlight switch on if not. The purpose of the lights is to drain residual power in the electrical system. Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes and the memory in the computer will be reset. There is no telling how long it will last, it all depends on the condition setting the CEL. If all else fails you could just remove the bulb behind behind the indicator on the instrument panel, unless this is prohibited by NY law.
- Q:my gf got into an accident last night. she said everything went well then when she went to turn she couldnt completly and ran into an embankment. also last week it was raining hard and she said the same thing happen except that she almost hit the sidewall. she said all this time for a while her low trac light has been on but never said anything. she said it felt like a glitchwhen steering the first time. what problems would set off that light that would cause a prob? she has a 95 camero auto v6
- Not sure that a low trac light would do it - as most of the GM traction controls of that era have to do with limiting engine power during low traction conditions. However, some of the newer controls would pulse various brake pads using the ABS system, which in a turning condition, depending on how hard the pulses were, could make the car turn sharper, or make it much more difficult to turn. I wouldn't put it out of the question, but seems a bit far fetched.
- Q:Can the car's headlamps be near light?
- Can change the light bulbs, but also for the light group.
- Q:hi, I have this problem with my car, it‘s an EB falcon 93 model and my problem is the alternator ain‘t charging the battery, so we went out and bought a new battery and alternator and still have the same problem, we disconnected the sterio because we thought that might be the probnlem but it ain‘t at all. so we come to a conclusion and also we seeked advice from an auto electreician and he said it might be the charging system fuse/relay now my problem is i dont know were that is on the car at all, there are some relays under the steering whell, under the bonnet beside the battery and also some at the back of the battery. i was wondering mif anyone could mtell me were that specific relay/fuse is located.thanks!!
- i used too tune cars on a dyno jet.dynotrust me ld air intakes only gain from 4-9 hp on most cars is it worth tha moneynot reallycold air induction system wuz originally designed for race carsand brands dnt really matter because in the long run the design of tha intake is wut mattersif u decide too get one or find oneyou must get a header and exhaust and a fuel management system in order to get the most out of itgood luck!
- Q:When I started the car after work, I looked at the dash and the security light came on. Before that, in the morning, I had the car on on but not running. The car kept auto-locking itself and wouldn‘t stop until I turned the car on. I looked up the answer, but they were all different. Some say I need a checkup while others say someone might have tried to brake into my car. I didn‘t notice anything different from my car and nothing was missing. Also, I have an ‘05 Grand AM.The car still starts fine but I want to know if there is a problem so I can fix it before it gets worse. Thanks
- The security light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterperates this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well. vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.y.
- Q:This code is coming from my wife‘s 1998 Toyota Camry (3.0L V6).The print-out that I got from Auto Zone says this:Evaporative emission control system vent control circuit faultProbable causes:1. Open or short circuit condition2. Poor electrical connection3. Faulty CCV vent control solenoidIf anyone has had any similar codes from their car, please let me know if it needs to be checked out right away or if it can wait a week or two.I know, the sooner the better.but realistically, we can‘t get it checked out right away.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
- No biggie. It will fail smog test, but won't hurt anything. It should be a simple fix.Parts and labor +/- $100. A check engine light indicates that there is a sensor that is reading a condition that is out of range. Simply resetting the light does not solve the initial cause of the problem. Replacing a number of parts trying to troubleshoot the problem in the hopes of getting the light to stay off is a tremendous waste of time and money. The simplest, and most economical way to alleviate your issue, is to have an engine diagnostic done by a reputable shop to determine what caused the computer to signal you to begin with. Just reading the computer codes may not find the cause.
