Q: My 2000 Saturn SL2 ABS and Brake light come on when I hit about 25 mph and before the abs light comes on when I hit the brakes the ABS engage like I‘m on ice. I changed both ABS sensors and checked the fuse, could it be the brake master cylinder? (the brake pedal is kind of spongy) I went to Auto Zone and they said their scanner only does check engine lights.: I had the same problem with my Ford F150 truck, ABS light came on and brakes would pump like on ice, but was on dry pavement . Problem was the ABS computer chip needed to be reprogramed, COST $380.00 I told them to disconect ABS chip,the brakes work like the old days. you have to pump on ice but I saved 380.00

Please advice.: Pedro is right. Changing parts arbitrarily is not the way to go. You have to find out why the light is on, and that can only be done by interfacing with the car's computer. Autozone will do it for free, and tell you what code/s set the light, what sensor or system is at fault, and then you'll know. You can't simply get the light reset either. You must get the problem fixed, as mandated by laws set forth by local and federal authorities. Even if you could find someone to reset the code, it will just come on again after you drive for 10 minutes. You are also doing yourself and your car a disservice by not fixing the problem correctly. A faulty sensor (or other component/s) can cause drive-ability problems, clog the catalytic converter, ruin plugs, eat gas, etc. My girlfriend's Toyota light came on. Went to Autozone. Their device read the code: PO242 (or whatever) - downstream oxygen sensor. Bought an O2 sensor, put it in, reset battery, voila. Lights out, passed inspection, better gas mileage, even the exhaust smells better (no, I'm not making that last one up).

Q: My ABS light is on constantly and the emergency brake light comes on every so often but does not stay on constantly. I scanned the code at Advanced Auto which came up as C1276 left front release valve solenoid malfunction. Does anyone have any clue what may be causing this? Thanks!: I doubt any Advance Auto store has a clue when it comes to the ABS brake system. They all just have OBD II code readers where I live. If they do have a $2,500 scan tool where you live that code means you need to replace the ABS control unit that has the pump and solenoids in it. Probably a $1200 repair. I'd go to the dealer first before going any farther. At least you'll have a real mechanic diagnose it instead of a sales clerk!! By the way it is not dangerous, you'll just need to pump the brakes to slow down if skidding in the snow since the ABS brakes don't work.

Q: our 1999 expedition battery light illuminated and moments after the lights dimmed and it lost all power took it to auto zone they tested the alt they said it was good and they said the battery was shot but it was the opposite the alt was bad maybe the battery was bad but it still cranks the engine over without any problems replaced the alt and everything is ok i‘m just wondering why they told me something that wasn‘t true: Alternators don't start cars. Mechanically good starters and fully charged batteries do. The alternator should be charging the battery once the engine has started at the rate of between 13.5 -14.2 volts. The alternator provides amperage for all the cars electrical systems when the car is running. I'm pretty sure the non-mechanics at Auto Zone didn't tell you that!

Personally I think it is stupid. The tail lights are there for a reason-- your safety! If they can't see them you could get hit from behind and that is an awful painful injury.
