- Q:I moved into a house on a rural property in January, and we live off tank water and have a Grunfos PT18 pumping all our water into the house. The problem is, not all the time, but alot of the time my pump stays on after having a shower, the motor keeps running and restarting continuously as if it is desperately trying to pump more water through, until I go underneath my house and literally turn it off at the powerpoint, wait for a bit then turn it back on. I am scared if I leave the motor keep going like that it will burn my pump out. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this problem, or why it may be doing this, or is something causing it?Thankyou in advance, from someone who has next to no knowledge about pumps!!
- Sounds like it's waterlogged. That's what it's called when the water and the air in the resevoir tank mix, and the volume of air gets so small as to not be able to provide any decent compression with which to push water through the system. At that point, any time you open a fixture, the pressure drops enough to turn on the pump, and when you turn off the pump, if it's just right, it will turn off and then back on, then off, then on, back and forth till you shut it off and it can set and stabilize, till you need water again. The solution is to reintroduce a sizeable amount of air back into the top of the tank. If it's an older tank, without a bladder, (identified by the small bulge around the center of the tank and either a blue or rust color), then the best way is to simply drain the tank and restart the system. That way it will trap all the air in the top of the tank and you'll have enough pressurized air to push a gallon or two of water out, before the pump needs to kick on again. If it's the bladder type, with the bulge, then the bladder has blown and you're, in effect, working with a standard resevoir tank now, except that it will have an air valve in the top like a bicycle tire, so you can pressurize it with an air tank. If so, open some fixtures, start pressurizing the top of the tank and blow all the water out of the system. Once it's dry, put about 20 lbs. of pressure in the tank and start up the pump. You should be good to go.
- Q:I want to buy a 2000 Audi tt coupe that seems to be in good condition. The owner mentioned he has replaced the water pump. What could the reason be for having to replace the water pump? Could the car have over heating issues?
- Despite the fact that i'm an audi character, and scoff (for no logical intent) at the bmws as I drive by way of, i'd go for the bmw given these picks. Many moons ago i drove bmws, however i fell in love with the quattro once I drove my first audi. I don't know how bmw is excellent-smart in this day and age, but the older ones i had had been bulletproof. On the other hand, my audis have dealt with me good too... Residing in new england, audis are far and wide given that of the quattro. I cant believe of someone who has had a TT and used to be overly overjoyed concerning the auto.
- Q:I have a Honda Accord, and last week I replaced the Radiotor, due to a leak. This week the Water pump broke, it was making a ver loud noise and major leak, when I opened the rad, basically all the fluid was drained.Do you think the two are related? or do you think when the Rad was replaced it was not done properly which caused the water pump to break? Thanks.
- If your radiator went then it is highly likely that regular maintenance ie rad flushing, fluid changes have not been taking place. Water pump will have nothing to do with the rad, unless when rad was leaking you ran vehicle with no lubrication (water-antifreeze mix) to water pump. The pump will just seize up or crack. These issues are probably just age related. If the rad was defective or you had coolant issues, the lights on your dash would indicate low fluid engine overheat of course you wouldn't drive it then. Everybody knows what a dummy light is for, right.
- Q:Difference between primary hot water pump and two hot water pump
- A hot water pump is a water pump circulating between the boiler and the heat exchanger, and the two hot water pump is a circulating water pump between the heat exchanger and the user. That is, there is no relationship between a water pump and heating users.
- Q:Ok, here's my problem. My parents bought this house a few years ago. No problems at first, but then during Hurricane Katrina, the basement started to flood from the heavy rains. Now whenever it rains, it floods. We have a half bath down there and the water would drain out in the shower drain. Now no water drains out, and we've already check the drain for clogs. It's clear. We currently have to bucket the water out.I'm looking for a good water pump to get them before I move out. I'm not sure if it has a sump pit or anything. We don't particularly care if we have to pump it out through a window or anything, as we have a pasture next to us. I just need something that could pump out the water when it rains. Preferably something not too expensive but that will still get the job done.Note: This is in Louisiana; lord knows what compelled the people who built this house to build a basement.Any suggestions/advice are much appreciated.
- The fact that the water comes only from the drain, (if I understood correctly) and it only began to happen after Katrina caught my attention. You state that the basement was dry before am I correct? And that there is no leaks on the walls and floor. Just the drain. So here's what I think might be happening and I suggest you look into. 1- Your waste water/sewage line might be linked to the city's rainwater drainage system. They used to do that a while ago and if your house is old enough that might be the case. New building codes now strictly forbid it because in case of heavy rain, the rainwater system overflow and cause basements to flood with wastewater, which is a health hazard. If that is the case you will want to disconnect that drain from the discharge line and install a sewage pump to deal specifically with wastewater. 2- The waste water discharge line is clogged or collapsed at some point during when Katrina hit. Again you will want to install a sewage pump. It is not a good idea to rely on gravity drains to get rid of water in below grade structures anyway. That said, considering that you live in a problem region, I'd suggest you also install a good sump pump system, with battery operated backup pump like the SuperSump, separated from the sewage pump, to deal with ground water and heavy rains. In Louisiana I would even consider a TripleSafe system which has 2 powerful backup sump pumps, one of which is battery operated, an automatic switch system and an alarm to let you know when the backup pumps are on the job.
- Q:I just got a new boat with a diesel engine and I don't understand why there is a coolant tank as well as a water pump? I think the water pump goes to the heat exchanger but what actually cools the motor - how does this stuff work?
- if you do indeed have a heat exchangers, you have two loops at work...the coolant circulates in the engine with its own pump; the tank is for topping up just like in a car. The external water pump....the one connected to the hose to the seacock / through hull...draws in cool sea water, passes that through the heat exchanger where it cools the coolant and then the hot sea water goes out the exhaust. This way you're not circulating hot corrosive sea water through the engine and shortening its life.
- Q:22KW pump motor direct start circuit breaker and contactor size? Concrete calculation method
- Strictly speaking, eleven kilowatts or more is not allowed to start directly
- Q:Having a hard time taking out the water pump on my 2004 Grand Am. it's been leaking anti-freeze for some time and finally had the time to fix it. Didn't know it will be so difficult to take out. So hopefully it won't be so difficult to put back up.
- You did not say if you have a 4 cylinder or a 6 cylinder. The 6 is really easy so I will assume you have a 4.If equipped with an automatic transmission, remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Removal in Engine Mechanical - 2.2L (L61). Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling . Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels. Remove the front fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement in Body Front End. Remove the access plate on the water pump sprocket from the timing cover. Install J 43651 to the water pump sprocket. Use the access plate bolts to secure J 43651 to the engine front cover. Remove the bolts that secure the sprocket to the water pump. Remove the bolt (1) that secures the engine block to the water pump. Remove the bolt (2) that secures the engine front cover to the water pump. Remove the feed pipe that joins the thermostat housing to the water pump. Remove the 2 bolts that secure the water pump to the engine block. Remove the water pump.
- Q:I keep having to add water to. Doesn't do anything when it's sitting up. But after you drive it straight for about 25 minutes. Time to add some more water. I figure it's the water pump. It's not leaking anywhere so it has to be a failing water pump. Oil still looks good, no smoking. AC and heater blows fine. Just runs hot after a while. I need another opinion. Its the 4 cylinder also. And yes it does be steaming. Tired of having to add water everyday.
- Forget the check this and try that stuff. You need a RADIATOR SHOP the radiator is plugged and you can do nothing to clean it. Don't waste time on flushing as it is a waste. Water pumps have mechanical seals and require no lubrication and anti freeze contains no lubrication material. Plain water will not affect the pump. Never replace any part 'till you KNOW the problem
- Q:I just replaced my water pump.fixed.. A week later I've been noticing he might of over filled it because.were the coolant goes.steam comes.out.the little.while plus water.. And.before.I.started my.car I noticed.it was all empty now and my.engine sounds like a mini diesel when it runs.. What's the deal? And I.already filled it up with coolant again
- if it is low you still have a problem
