- Q: I recently blacked out and fell onto the floor face first, causing some moderate rug burns. I'm wondering if I should be concerned about scarring, and if so what I should do to prevent it. I've been keeping a coat of neosporin on it constantly so far.
- Regarding the rug burn, it does not look like a very deep wound from the picture. Most scrapes are shallow but painful because a large area of skin is missing. Shallow wounds do not usually scar. My brother went headfirst over the handlebars of his bike about 6 weeks ago and had some really nasty scrapes, some of which were moderately deep, and he didn't scar at all. Just keep it clean, wash it daily with soap and warm water. Keep using the neosporin as well. That will prevent infection and keep it moisturized; both of those things will help speed up healing, and the faster things heal the less likely they are to scar. Once it's all healed there will be some residual redness in the area for probably 3-7 days, but that isn't scarring and it should go away. Regarding you passing out, I would advise a doctor's visit. Getting light headed when standing is called orthostatic hypotension and it has a number of possible causes; some of them are fairly serious, such as a heart problem. Your orthostatic hypotension, plus now an unrelated episode of fainting indicates some sort of underlying problem. Better to go and get checked, just to be safe.
- Q: In the September catalog of Urban Outfitters they had photos of their room decor, furniture, etc. On the walls (they don't sell them the store) were these cool flowery rugs.
- Hi there, I'm glad you asked. The rug in that photo is great. Some places might charge a lot of money for something like that, but I run an online website that sells mostly furniture, you know, coffee tables, end tables, etc. We do have a fairly good selection of rugs though and I'm looking at them now and we have a few that look just like that. Once you pick out your favorite, you can just order it online. No need to go to the store! I'm sure you'll love our prices too!
- Q: My cousin spilled nail polish all over the carpet! How can we get it off the carpet and wall?
- Often nail polish on carpet is just on the very tips of the fibers. If this is the case you can just snip the polish off with sharp scissors. Just cut the very tips of the fibers. Work slowly. Don't cut a single millimeter more than you have to and pull up while cutting. This will help prevent divots in the carpet. Try your best to do just one or two fibers at a time...not a whole clump. This will work unless you have used nail polish remover and worked the nail polish deeper into the carpet. Good luck. -
- Q: Hello, Thanks for taking the time to read this.Ok, I have been living on aparments since long time ago, most of them are all carpet (no choice), so now I'm moving to a beautiful townhome with 2 levels, first level where the living/dinning/kitchen are is all hardwood floors, I was just looking for slidders or socks for the furniture so they don't scratch the wood, my fiance said that the dinning room and the couches will look funny without a big area rug underneath. Do you think that Area rugs are mandatory on hardwood floors? Please share your opinions. Thanks again.
- They aren't mandatory but your room will look more pulled together and defined with a large rug. It will also give it a warmer more cozy feeling. I do the same even with carpeted areas. It just gives a nice finished touch.
- Q: Ok, i have a white area rug that has a few stains, nothing major.. I want to bleach it to not only get the stains out but i also love the smell of bleach, i bleach my blankets and my sheets every week. Im not really worried about ruining my rug, cause its not like its going to get any better. I know that you need to delute the bleach i just dont know how much to delute or how to go about cleaning the rug. Should i just poor it on or use gloves with a sponge and soak the areas?? Please help :) thanks!
- Take the rug outside to your driveway. Clean a spot on your driveway (soap and water, brush and rinse). Place the rug on that spot. Dilute bleach 10:1. Use scrub brush with a handle. Scrub. Rinse with hose. Hang to dry.

- Q: My sister has a 9x12 area rug that laid flat on hardwood floors and now that she wants to put it on carpet, it curls on the edges and bunches in the middle. Is there any way to keep it flat? It's a beautiful rug, but right now she has it rolled up against a wall.
- Tell your sister to roll the carpet on the side that she wants it for a few days this will solve the problem or as Joe suggested lay the carpet upside down for a while.
- Q: Kids took natural fiber rug outside while cleaning hardwood floors. Boom - Super thunderstorm. Next day rug is soaked, its not looking good at all. is there anything I can do to recover it? After a day or two in the sun trying to dry it out one spot near edge is beginning to grow mold. Can I save it?
- See if you can clean on both sides, get rid if the mold and hang it over a clothes line. You might need several clothes poles to support the weight, then pray for some dry weather until it is dry.
- Q: I have an approximately 2'x2' section of carpet that is snagged and needs to be replaced.
- While the repair may never be invisible, remove a 2' by 2' section from a closet or hidden area and use this piece as a templet to remove the damaged area. Place double stick tape on the floor around the cut area and insert the replacement piece. Of course it is best to use a hot glue or seam iron. replace the hidden are with the damaged piece
