- Q: The previous owner of my home put up walls for separate rooms OVER existing carpet in the basement. He/she did not install baseboard along the new walls. I'm planning on replacing the carpet in the basement as well as installing baseboard along the walls. What should I do first? The carpet installer is going to have to cut the carpet from underneathe the walls in order to replace it. Should I wait until after the new carpet is installed or can I go ahead and put the new baseboard in regardless?
- You ll have to cut the carpet out and put the base on. Depending in what carpet you put in , the normal distance to leave the base up it just the thick ness of a normal base. Unless you have thin carpet and thick base use a few pcs of scrape.. Doing this will also stop the tracking and sawdust you ll track in on new carpet putting it in.. A couple of draw backs , but its minor.. Newly painted base, the paint isn t cured and can be easily scratched up from the carpet backing. This is hard not to do because of the backing of most carpets. If they are painted be prepared for some minor touch ups . Even care full installers it can happen.. GL
- Q: I have a wool rug that I left in my garage for many years. Because of that it has developed a musty smell from the humidity. It doesn't have mildew, just a funky smell. What can I do to get rid of it? Thanks.

- Q: I have a dog and I still couldn't teach him where to pee and potty. So, I m planning to buy a carpet cleaner. Should I go with the Rug Doctor, which I used to rent and know it cleans perfect but very expensive ($700). or should I buy any other cheaper brand? Actually I don't want to spend that much for a carpet cleaner. Do you think Bissell Proheat 2X 8920 ($194) works fine for pet stains?
- Instead of investing in a rug doctor try some pet stain and odor eliminator to treat the areas and then some pet OFF which smells terrible and the dog won't go there again. The dog needs to be able to go outside or given an area to go. My dog can stay inside for 10 hours or more and waits for me to let him outside because I praise him when he wants to go out.
- Q: For use in a carpet cleaning machine.
- Not sure about a recipe just make sure its low foaming you could use napisan or something similiar just fill the tank with hot water and dissolve the napisan in water before pouring in with the rest of the water.
- Q: want to clean carpet that has paint and glue in it without fading or ruin carpet ?
- The concrete would be cracked and wish a few fix or it would be simply exceptional You wont recognise till you get rid of the carpet. If it demands fix you'll have to fill all locations and permit therapy earlier than you'll paint . When you paint you'll want precise paint for concrete. I might use a curler to use paint and you'll have to keep off the skin for a couple of hours . There is generally a tack strip everywhere in the baseboard to maintain down the carpet . That will must be pulled up. Is the owner comfortable with you doing this?? Because it perhaps a contravention of your rentalo contract Also with out the carpet the ground will likely be bloodless if you're in cooler local weather It will likely be plenty simpler to hold blank if it painted .
- Q: so i accidentally got some nailpolish on my carpet any ideas for how to get it out?
- It is simply amazing how often nail polish makes it onto carpet, or furniture, instead of nails, lol I'm afraid the attitude towards nail polish is entirely too lax... here is why... Carpets these days are made of synthetic fibers.... and when you try to use nail polish remover to remove nail polish, it WILL DAMAGE THE CARPET FIBERS. This results in fibers melting (chemically) or being permanently stained! Nail polish removers often contain Acetone. Acetone is a very harsh and effective chemical stripper -- it will not only damage carpet fibers, but it will also damage vinyl tile, and wood finishes of all sorts. I'm afraid your best bet at this point, is to try to scrape the nail polish out, or have that section of carpet removed, and replaced. A good carpet tech can patch the section for you, but it may still be a noticable patch. Unless you want to make a habit of cutting holes in your carpet, I'd advise a little more care when handling the nail polish, heheheh ;) Good Luck

- There is no need to be composit bottom. If it is laid in front of the bed or marble. The composit bottom carpet is mainly used for the floor tile: Composit bottom means that add a layer of anti-skid plastic cloth to the back bottom of chenille. If laid in the wooden floor, it not only has a non slip effect, but also can make the product more three-dimensional. Especially in the bathroom.
- Q: I have a long bit of carpet, like a rug i spose but its filthy and i want to put in in my room.. do u think its safe to just throw it in the washing machine to clean??
- If it has a rubber backing, then no,the rubber will weaken and you will have a rug with half of the backing gone and a repair bill for your machine. I would suggest if you are going to put it in the machine, go to the Laundromat, they have larger machines and super dryers.
- Q: My 3 year old cat started urinating everywhere once i brought my new baby home, it took a while for my cat to get used having someone new at home. its been a year and he only urinates on the rugs now. I removed all the rugs that i have but once i put them back he's at it again. Im running out of patience! note: the vet ruled out any urinary infection.

- Q: My apartments carpet has been totaled over the years. I was living with a bad roommate and the carpet in his room has been ruined in various places because of stains. But i was looking at my lease and it says that it has a 5 year scale of 1200 dollars. I live in Ohio What can i expect when i move out in regards to the carpet. I have lived in my apartment for 8 years when my current lease expires.
- each state has its own rules but when one has rented 8 yrs it is a given that the carpet will have to be replaced, unless extreme care was taken to maintain it
