Q: I'm looking for an 8x10 area rug and so far have found myself in no-man's land — everything affordable is ugly or boring, and everything I like costs $2,000 or significantly more. Can you recommend a company or designer with attractive rugs of that size for under, say, $1,500?
Try okorder ... Tip: though I love the feel of natural wool rugs, I've been quite happy with the polypropolene synthetic rugs I've bought over the years. They feel soft, look authentic, don't aborb dyes from spills and clean up easily with soap and water. Best of all they are less than half the price of wool and you don;t have to worry about moth or insect damage.
Q: Will skateboarding on carpet ( or maybe anyhting) with just the skateboard deck ,( no wheels, trucks), improve the actual tricks on the real thing? Thanks.
First off, the I feel carpet boarding has some merit, even without trucks and wheels. It will definitely help you get the feel for having a board under your feet. It's also very helpful when trying to learn spin tricks (like shuvits and big spins). Having no wheels, you wont have the same friction you would on the street (no wheels to rub against the concrete), but you will be able to learn what it is you need to do to spin the board (and build some confidence after landing on it). Carpet-boarding wont help much with pop-type tricks (ie ollies, kickflips, etc). Sure some of us can do those tricks on decks on the carpet, but it's definitely _nothing like doing it with trucks and wheels (it's actually a lot harder on carpet). Carpet also wont help a whole lot with your balance on the street, even with wheels. With just a deck, you'll be sliding all over the place. With trucks and wheels, the carpet effectively stops your wheels from sliding out from under you, and hence, doesnt require your to keep your weight distributed the same way as you would on concrete.
Q: Wonder how many people have red carpets.... I mean like curtains and carpets matching and stuff like that.
Well, red carpets, etc, for ex, the plain bright red one's are usually used for decorating modern homes, you wouldnt find it in a room thats decorated antique-style, I have a friend who lived in NY and her apartment living room is decorated in red white. very stylish chik.. its gorgeous
Q: This might be a stupid question. But I'm about to buy carpet and I need to know how many sq. feet I need. thanks
What is your room shaped like? If it's a perfect square, then it should be obvious, but if it's L shaped or some other shape you'll have to work a little harder. If you've ever taken geometry, then you should have no problem. If your room is L shaped, break up the space into two rectangles. One for the vertical part of the L and another for the horizontal part of the L. Then measure each rectangle separately and add the two amounts together. The other thing you have to remember about carpet is that it's going to have a seam. Obviously there aren't 20 foot wide rolls of carpet out there, so installers will sew the pieces together to create a seamless look. That is something else you have to determine. You'll have to find the carpet you want and figure out how wide it comes. THEN you'll have to figure out where to put the seam in your floor in order to have it as out-of-the-way-of-foot-traffic as possible so it doesn't come apart after a few years. In all honesty, carpet is a lot more confusing and difficult than most people think, which is why there are professionals you can call for help with this. I suggest you call a local carpet dealer and ask them what they recommend. After all, they're not going to charge you to call and ask. Good luck!
Q: I accidentally dropped my red nail polish on to my carpet... i tried using windex - it faded it a little bit- but i can still see it! anything else i can try? and i am going to have a carpet cleaner person come and clean my carpets so will they be able to get it all out? and could there be a reaction from mixing the windex with the carpet cleaner? PLEASE HELP!

Q: What kind of carpet is better?
good tensile resistance. Besides。 The surface of wool is squamous so it is anti-corrosion and has good flexing endurance. 1 carpet wovened by nylon has good durability and acid and alkali resistance. Acrylic carpet is also resistant to acid and alkali. 2 propylene is synthetic fiber and is tubular, so it is cheap and easy to burn, but it can prevent the indoor air from contaning electricity and it is not easy to stick together. This property not only makes the wool carpet can adjust the indoor humidity. Propylene fibers are slightly less resilient than wool, so most of the carpet is wovened with wool, and the wool can absorb moisture. However, the price of wool carpet is high, and the following are the most suitable for homes when the indoor air is dry. Wool belongs to animal fiber and has good moisture absorption effect when mixing with linen and wovened into carpet, it is also waterproof. so it is suitable for living room and office that is stepped on frequently. now many families use propylene carpet, but it is easy polluted. 3 wool is heavier than it was before synthetic fibers was produced. the defect of nylon carpet is that it is easy to produce static, buut it is anti-corrosion and has respiratory effect and excellent wear resistance. wool is spiral curl. Wool is also easily dyed into various colors, but it has good moisturizing property and is not easy to burn, it also mildewproof. Therefore, it can prevent burning and it is mothproof and difficult to be polluted, it also has good elasticity and long service life. it feels like wool; it is more suitable in the corridor becaise of its poor heat resistance, but it is better than nylon. When the indoor is damp, it can release moisture, and the price is also lower than the wool carpet,
Q: I have a big rug in my bathroom (Not huge, its about 5' x 3').. it's thick and has a thick rubber back. I don't know how to describe what it's made of, but it's not the usual kind of rug you would find to go around the toilet (with a toilet seat cover to match), it's a more expensive rug and the threads kind of loop up and back in.. lol Does that make sense? Anyway, it's been in my bathroom for a while and I want to wash it but I don't want to ruin it. Help?
Put it in your yard and wash it with a hose
Q: This must sound like a really dumb question, but...I'm still a novice with horses, and one of my stable jobs is putting rugs on the horses to be turned out.And I have quite a lot of trouble getting the rugs on, especially as the horses are 17-18 hands, and the rugs are volumus! I end up with them spilling about in my arms, and by the time the thing is on the horses back, it's inside-out! I feel such an idiot when people are watching me!I wonder if anyone here could give me some tips, especially on how to have the rug before putting it on, and how to actually get it up on the horses back in the first place, without getting in a mess.
first; look at the blanket find the front and back, and make sure it is not inside out, look at the buckles and straps to help second; look at rug as you would see it on a horse, hold it out straight in front of you. put a hand on the withers of the rug and a hand where the seam is across the bum to the tail flap, then i usually fold the font part where the withers are back to the bottom of the rug so it is folded in half showing half the inside of the rug and the breast stapes are one each side. thirdly; stand on the horses left side, hold on to rug with a hand at the front fold(which is technically the middle of the rug as you have folded it) and a hand at the back holding the withers and the back seam together. throw it with a sweep pull the withers back from the back of the rug then adjust to make sure it is level on each side, do up breast stapes the tail, the lastly belly, i know it is embarrassing but ask for help if you get stuck, people prefer you to ask ins-ted of you getting wrong and catching a horse with a buckle etc... or you injuring yourself... and just keep practicing ;0)
