Q: Is there a not too expensive way to pretreat really bad carpet stains before I use a before I go over the entire carpet with a steamclean pro home machine thanks
Depending on what the stain is and how long it's been there, start with a carpet cleaner, such as Woolite and spray it on, let it sit and then vacuum it off. If that doesn't work, rent a steam cleaner for the carpet and use the cleaner that comes with it. For everyday spills you catch right away, use soda water and blot out the stain.
Q: My cat keeps scratching my carpet should i get her declawed oris there a way train her?
It shouldn't be too hard. All you need to do is to set up a behavioral modelling program. First of all, you have to punish your cat whenever it scratches the carpet (make loud noise, throw water or a unharmful object at her), but this punishment should not be too tough (so you it will not develop depression or anxiety) and it should be immediate. Secondly, you have to reinforce the cat's desired behaviour. Try to draw your cat's attention to the scratcher. Try to feed her only near it. Then after a few days, try to show the cat how to use it, by handling her claws on the scratcher. And then, anytime the cat makes that move (touching the scratcher) give it a reward, like it's favourite food. In time it should work out fine. All living creatures are designed to learn from the enviroment, so the cat will learn from you, especially since it's you who has all the food, and that's what it's all about. It work did, with my cat (it used to scratch the furniture legs). I hope it answered to something. (my cat also learned to run beside me, when i go jogging - but just around the house)
Q: Coke spilled on a like colored rug. I try rug cleaner. Both the spray and liquid. It is still pretty dark. Any Suggestions?
Hi, Nail polish remover, Paint Thinner, Alcohol, even White Petrol are some of the substances you may use to remove the stain. Advise : Do not scrub the spill , but remove it by dabbing the spill in a circular motion using a clean white cloth. Caution : The colors of the rug may bleed if the wool is cheaply dyed. Try it on a small portion before trying on the spill Disclaimer : You should probably hire a professional to get your rug cleaned, but if you want to DIY then do so at your OWN risk only. I am not responsible for any losses
Q: I am creating a pirate themed room for my son and i need a rug because i made him a pirate ship bed.
I give up me swashbuckling days long ago, lad. Now I runs a bakeshop in Portobello what brings in a pretty penny and many a gold doubloon besides. Me goods is well-liked an' me prices notoriously high. What? You never heard o' the pie-rates of the Caribbean?
Q: We just got new carpeting last year in our family room, and are driveway is flat. It rained really hard three days ago, and the water came into the house and got are carpet soaked! We borrowed a carpet cleaner that sucked up about six buckets of water, but now its dry enough that it isnt sucking anything else up, but the carpet is still wet. It also smells like mildew in our house now. I sprayed Febrez, but the smell keeps coming back. Any ideas on how to get the rest of the water, and the smell out of the carpet?
Whenever you have a flooding issue, of any kind, always call a professional out. DO NOT USE A RENTAL MACHINE. The rental units do not have the suction that carpet cleaners have. Most of the cleaners have what is called a claw, that presses down on the carpet and the padding to pull the water out. The rental machine only got the surface water. Water stayed in the padding and is allowing bacteria to grow. You carpet might be salvaged if you get a professional out now. They can kill the bacteria and odor, remove the excess water and have blowers to help dry out under the carpet. Good luck
Q: This might be a stupid question. But I'm about to buy carpet and I need to know how many sq. feet I need. I need to get a 16x20 piece of carpet and the prices go per sq. footage. so, How much sq.footage is 16x20? thanks.
You need 320 s/f butttttttt..... Carpet comes mainly in 12 and 15 foot wide so depending on how you room is laid out with its walking patterns etc is how its laid and seamed. Generaly a seam will be on the furthest wall away from all traffic. Again if your carpet comes 15 foot ( some do some only comes 12 foot wide) you ll you ll need extra carpet for a seam . You ll be scraping out some so you ll have to get more than 320 s/f GL
Q: I have a Palomino/Arab 2 Thoroughbred X Race Horses, We are in the process of having Stables built on the field which should be ready within 2 weeks. I feed the 3 of them twice a day, once in the mornings and remove the rugs, one in the afternoon/evening and replace the rugs. They have waterproof lightly insulated Castle rugs that seem to be keeping them warm but I can't help but worry about them. When they are in the Stables should I just use quilted Stable Rugs when it gets really Cold? What rugs/food do you suggest for different seasons for these type of horses. The Palomino is 1yr4months and around 14.3 with a good weight, the thoroughbreds are 6yrs old 15.2, 7 yrs old 16.1 with poor weight due to coming from the races I want to do my best to fatten them up and provide them with a calm lifestyle. Thanks Alot.
Im fortunate our dry cleanser has very great front load washing machines that take them quite properly. even although you may by no skill get them suited I wash them interior the favourite water attainable. i do no longer care approximately colour washing out. i prefer them clean. I additionally use the two a blanket cleanser or I only purchase the cleansing soap for toddlers that way it does not worsen their dermis next winter. yet earlier I take them I in lots of situations leave them over a fence in the time of the spring rain to assist wash as quite some the two factors. I in lots of situations rotate between enormous storms to scrub the two factors. I additionally do no longer prefer my care to sniff to undesirable. i admire horses yet my job demands taking human beings around in my automobile. only my 2 cents.
Q: dropped the iron on the carpet which now has left a mark on it,rather than buy a new carpet is there anything you can buy that will soften up the carpet so will remove the mark
No, you have melted the nap on the carpet. Easy way to fix is to plug or patch the carpet. If you have a sample of the original carpet it is pretty easy for a carpet mechanic to cut a piece from the scrap and glue in a plug. If you do not have a piece of the carpet, you may consider going into a closet if it has the same carpet and cut a plug from the closet. Put the damaged piece in the closet. I often do this on my rental property, but if you are not handy and experienced, hire a carpet mechanic.
Q: As you can see from the lower half of the picture its slightly yellow. There are afew yellows spots(3-4 1'x1') through out the rug. How would I go about cleaning/reversing the effects?THANKS!
That depends on what the stains are from. If they are from food, some oxygen type cleaners can lighten them, If they are from bleeding of the dyes in the rug colors (which can happen with some inexpensive wool oriental type carpets), there is not much you can do. If it is pet stains, a good professional cleaning company can often remove them. I have owned a lot of oriental carpets and I highly recommend finding a professional cleaner who specializes in cleaning them. It usually costs about $100 to have an 8 x 11 carpet cleaned, but they can make them look (and smell) like new. I don t think you should try to clean the rug with any water based cleaners or shampooing. Some one I know had a rug very much like yours and when they tried to damp shampoo it all of the red color bled into the white areas and ruined it.
Q: I am away from my horses at the moment and i have to call each day to have them rugged. I couldnt get a hold of the lady today and they may not be rugged. its winter here (not snowing here ever) and they have always had doona type rugs on of a night. will they be ok and not get sick?im so worried i feel sick
Where I used to live Everyone blanketed, I moved and now where I live it is MUCH colder and Nobody blankets. I have found that at first the horses have a little harder time if they have never been exposed to the elements but they adjust quickly because naturally in the wild that is what they do. He will develop a fuzzy coat even if it is late in the season. Provide Lots of hay, Make sure it is grass hay, since he can't move much you don't want to feed him high quality feeds as he will get too much energy and may re-injure himself, or start gaining a lot of weight (not good for a healing injury). If this is happening on just grass hay, find a poor quality grass hay and give him a multivitamin/mineral mix to make sure he remains nutritionally sound. Also, feeding a low quality hay will help with his boredom because hopefully you can give him unlimited and he will be able to eat/graze as he chooses. The continual digestion will help him generate body heat. He will be cold for a while but he will get it figured out. Just remember if you 'rescue' him every time from the slightest cold it isn't healthy for him and will make him weaker in the long-run, because they forget how to care for themselves. In the wild they survive blizzards and come out kicking, playing, and having fun, and I have seen them do so in captivity as well- their owners just need to let them learn how to do it.
