Q:I had a re-manufactured water pump installed and after 14 months I started smelling my radiator occasionally. Never suspected the pump since my original pump lasted 60,000 miles and was still fine when they replaced it feigning quot;it is customary to replace water pump with timing beltwhen in actuality my Hyundai Elantra just needs the pump checked every 60,000 miles. The re-manufactured water pump was diagnosed leaking for sure after 20 months. Anyway I believe the leaking pump which didn't get discovered for at least 4 to 6 months caused the early demise of my radiator. Does that make sense? Thanks,Mitzi
completely unrelated and it is customary to replace water pump with timing belt BECAUSE the labor require to replace the pump is the exact same as replacing the belt. If the pump was to fail shortly after replacing the belt, you would have to pay for the same labor charge again and a leaking water pump will contaminate a timing belt requiring the belt to also be replaced. Your radiator developed a leak, that has nothing to do with your water pump
Q:how does a water pump work?
Water pump works by suction and lifting up the water to a desired level. The mechanism of pump to increase the hydraulic height/level of fluid. Example : The pump will pump and lift water from a 25 feet deep well and carry it up to fill a water tank placed on a 30 feet high structure.
Q:We have a 92 cadillac deville, my husband can replace the water pump he justs need to know if you have to jack the motor a little. Please help before our car blows up!!

Q:1997 Chevy Cavalier, 2.2 engine. In the past 2 days I noticed that my temp gauge was reading a little higher than usual but not in the danger range. I checked and nedded to add coolant. Last night it started making a chattering or maybe klunking sound. As far as I could tell it was coming from the water pump but it stopped before I could get out of the car and look to see. Now the coolant is low again. Are these signs of the water pump being bad or could it be something else?
If you don't see drip marks under your car when you come out in the morning or when it's parked, it's probably not the water pump. Either way, that coolant is going someplace. Might it be possible that you had the AC on when you heard the clunking sounds? When you have the AC on and the AC compressor comes on it puts an extra drain on the engine and makes a noticable change in the way the engine sounds. What I would do is find a way to get under the car with a flashlight and take a look around and see if anything is wet. I had a 1999 Chevy Tahoe and had all these same sort of things you are describing, so I climbed up under it and looked around and saw a drip around one of the seals on the water pump. For about three weeks I kept my eye on it and noticed the drip marks under my car. Eventually one day on a quick trip to the corner store, the pump finally went and and deluge of coolant came pouring out the bottom of my car. It could also just be a loose hose or a blown headgasket. Check your oil and see if you have any coolant in the oil (you'll be able to tell). If you do, take it to a garage ASAP or you'll be really screwed! Either way, if it's the pump you'll know it sooner or later when it blows out!
Q:we changed the water pump in the car and now the horn sealtbelt light on the dash board and the speed aumator are not working what is the problem?
on some makes of cars there is a wire clip off the manifold that you would have to unclip to get the water pump out and when you reinstall it it is easily looked over to make sure the clips where put back in the right way or fully sitted go back over and i bet that is your problem
Q:I am trying to areting my pond but air pump cost too much. I have an extra water pump available if I make two intake opening, one for water the other for air, would it work? or will it blow up the pump and kill all of my koi because it is made for pump water.
The only difference between a water pump and an air pump is the pressure difference between the two ends and hence across the longitude of the pipe. Air requires less pressure difference, it will pass across anyways. Now, if the pressure difference is too high (i.e. its a water pump perhaps) then the air will go past quite quickly and there is danger of actual overheating, as the kinetic energy of the air molecules will go very high. (Kinetic energy is proportional to temperature). Overheating results in possible hazards for the pond and also fluctuations in the pipe, whereas it COULD possibly (haven't done exact calculations) burst.

Q:Looking for a pro's advice here. My Corolla has developed a strange noise over the past few cold weeks (Highs of 10 degrees max, well below zero at night). The sound would best be described as a cricket-type rythmic chirp noticable during acceleration. I don't believe it's a belt because it comes and goes though it has steadily gotten louder. I vaguely remember this sound being related to a bad water pump I had a few years ago. Do you think this could be the same thing? Three years for a water pump? And do water pumps tend to go out more frequently in the cold weather? Thanks!!!

Q:Why does the water pump in the tank pull out the power supply and then plug it in?
What kind of filter pump? If you don't pump water, there may be a blockage in the foreign body. You can either take a look or fail to reach the level of water it needs
Q:The diving pump in the aquarium stops and stops on the goldfish
Generally do not close the filter at night, at 56 in the morning when the most likely hypoxia. The sick fish are all fished out. Fast infection
