Q: What is the definition of the pump in the capacity of the pump?
Work pump, spare pump, repair pump three are interchangeable use, the work pump need to overhaul, repair pump work, work pump is maintenance pump. The capacity of the water pump is not less than 25% of the work pump. If the work pump, spare pump, repair pump model is the same, the work pump 4 units, repair pump at least 1 units, 5 pumps, repair pumps need 2 units
Q: What I am trying to explain is that I took my vehicle to be serviced for a water pump. They installed it, but when I got my vehicle back, it started making this clicking noise. I took it back to be diagnosed and they came back to me saying that I need a new engine? (Before I took in my vehicle there was no clicking sound or problems, just the water pump.)Could this be the dealer trying to pull something for their mistake or what?
It is hard to answer given the information given. What kind of car ? If your car has a waterpump that is turned by the timing belt, yes the shop could have messed up on the cam timing as they re-assembled after installing the pump. What is causing the clicking sound ? It could be a bent belt or any of a hundred things. Where do you hear the sound coming from ?
Q: I just move to this house, it's been empty for a while. The water pump keep screeching everytime I turn it on. What can I do to get rid this noise?
You must have a surface mounted well pump also called a jet pump or you wouldn't hear a noise from a submirsable which is at the bottom of the well. Check where the motor hooks onto the pump itself to see if there are any small oil fittings. I doubt that there are, but it can't hurt to look. If you find any use 3M or similar oil to lubricate the bearings. If the house has been vacant for awhile those bearings might be rusty from sitting, and may stop swealing on their own as you use the pump and the shaft/bearings may grind the surface rust off and stop the noise. If they don't you will have to call a service company to evaluate the problem. Here is part of jet pump potential maintainence issues: Perform necessary pump maintenance: some water pumps require inspection and replacement of internal parts such as bearings or impellers as often as after just four or five years of use. While it may be possible to ignore this maintenance for a while, the effect may be to so wear the pump or pump motor parts that complete pump or pump motor replacement are necessary.
Q: I am having water shortage problems and wonder if there is more I can do to maintain the health of my pump motor , pressure switch , and diaphram tank , if I run one outlet in or out of house , it only takes another spigot being used or a toilet flush to cause the system to run dry .I then have to reprime pump to have water or pump will run dry until it overheats ,

Q: can a failing water pump sound like rattling or popcorn until the motor begins to over heat? the sound is nearthe waterpump. it goes away once the temp starts to overheat.the temp will get near redline then go down to normal and then start creeping up again. thanks for any replies.
Yes it can! I am curious though if what you are hearing is a really bad water pump or spark knock due to excessive heat or possibly a blown head gasket. Remove the belt and shake the pulley on the water pump. If it moves or rattles at all, then it is probably bad. Seems strange that it hasn't tossed the belt off though if it were that bad. Worth looking though, testing is free, parts are not....
Q: I just had the water pump replaced, now less than a week later it is overheating again and sometimes blowing cold air. What does this sound like it would be?
Unless the weep-hole is leaking on the bottom of the water-pump input shaft housing, the impeller inside the pump rarely goes bad. The impeller is the part inside the water-pump that circulates the coolant thorough the radiator, heater-core and cooling passages of the motor. There are several checks to eliminate possibilities why the cooling system is getting too hot. I wish you had told us the year, make and model of the car plus the number of miles on the odometer. If the coolant has been getting so hot that it bubbles back inside the plastic cooling system reservoir, have a private mechanic do an inexpensive cooling system pressure test to see if you have any external or internal coolant leaks. If not, have the thermostat changed with a factory original. Always check and refill the radiator when the motor is stone cold. Fill the plastic cooling system reservoir 3/4 full when ever you remove the radiator pressure cap. If you or someone has ever mixed chemical types of antifreeze other than the factory recommended brand or type it will eventually plug-up your cooling system and cause it to overheat. It may be necessary to drain, flush and clean the system with a one part acid cleaner. If you haven't in the past had your coolant drained and flushed every three years and your car is 12 years old or older get ready to buy a new radiator. They're easy to install and they're not too expensive these days because they come from Mexico or off-shore suppliers. Keep this in mind: The higher the percentage of antifreeze in the coolant the less efficient the cooling system becomes. Antifreeze is an insulator of heat transfer. That's why race cars don't use it! If this statement is hard to believe, Look up Stewart Water Pumps on the net. They'll tell you that pure water is the best coolant to use for heat transfer purposes. In the real world we can't do that because of temperature fluctuations.
Q: I have a slight idea but I would like to see what steps other people have taken. I have a 1992 ford escort that needs a new water pump, what steps have you taken to replace it?

Q: I have a 2006 Mitsubishi Raider that I'm pretty sure needs a new water pump. It is still under warranty for another 1000 miles, but the nearest dealer is over 200 miles away, and Mitsubishi says they won't reimburse for work done at a non-Mitsubishi Dealer. I'm trying to figure out if the cost of just paying someone to have it done here in town versus having towed 200 miles and then driving it back, plus the lost cost of missed work.By the way my Mitsubishi Roadside Assistance will tow it to the nearest dealer for free, but last time I did that it was barely worth the hassle of dealing with their very poor contract towers.
Have you asked the dealer to send you the part at least? Call Mitsubishi and ask it that would be possible, you never know. You could send in the old pump and possibly get compensation. Keep your bills. Discuss it with them. Your dealer should provide you with the area Mitsubishi representatives contact information. The prices for those can be expensive. Ask the dealer, service dept, for the labour, how many hrs. to change the pump. They should tell you. Also for the cost of the pump. Add the two together and you have your ans. Join CAA, or AAA, get a gold card, wait two days for the card's towing to take effect, then have it towed in on the card. Done all the time. Or if you have a relative with a Gold card they can have it towed in as long as they are with the car with their card when the tow truck comes.

Q: A mechanic replaced my timing and other belts on my 2001 Mitsubishi Galant 4 cylinder today but not water pump. He said the water pump looked good. All the other mechanics I talked to told me they had to replace the water pump. This mechanic said the belts were not connected to the water pump in this car and therefore the water pump was ok. The car has about 100500 miles on it. Is this bad or should I call him back and ask him why he didn't change the water pump. I don't want to pay more later.
A lot of times, it's done as a preventive measure. The logic behind it is that the water pump is driven by the timing belt so if you are going to be replacing the timing belt ( a time consuming job on many different engines ), you may as well do the water pump at the same time.
