Q: how do u know when u need to replace ur water pump or how do u know when its not working??? thanks: Water pump may have three types of failure: 1. Leaking shaft seal You know by a. puddle under the car, b. low coolant level, c. ultimately - overheat 2. Shaft bearing failure You know by excessive noise, play in the shaft, ultimately - leak from the seal (see 1) 3. Turbine itself breaks. This is a rare case, and the only one that represents no working condition. The engine immediately - withing a few minutes - overheats.

Q: the impeller on my calpump pw1200 water pump will not turn. what is the problem? and how do you fix it: CLR soak. Remove the calcium and lime from the tap water use. I would use a 50/50 solution in the inlet and give it 30 min then plug it back in with the in and out in a bucket with the 50/50 mix until it runs like new.

Q: As I wrote last night, I have a Isuzu Rodeo V6 3.2L 4X4. I guess I misunderstood my husband. I talked to him this morning and he said that it did overheat but the gauges on the inside of the car wasn't showing that it was overheating. It wasn't spewing coolant but the coolant that was just filled up a couple of weeks ago is empty. Does anyone know what the problem is?: please do not drive this. it seems you have two problems: your gauge and/or sending unit is not working . and now that you have developed a leak you are overheating with no indication. Please you will severely damage your engine dont drive but if you must install a generic mechanical temerature sensor so you may at least monitor the temperatur. it shouldnt cost more than 20 bucks. and almost anyone that knows about cars can install in 10 min

Q: Is the pump head related to the water level of the entrance and outlet? If the water level of the inlet and outlet is on the same level, but higher than the height of the pump, does the pump lift need to be coupled with this height difference?: Pump head refers to the inlet and outlet pressure head, that is to say, the entrance resistance greatly affects the pump lift, of course, this inlet resistance has a degree, too large water pump does not bring water or cause water pump cavitation. If the water level at the pump inlet is the same height, the inlet flow resistance of the pump may not be considered.

Q: The pump assembly and the pump are not a thing: Yes, all the auto parts are called assembly, and the pump is the same. It's called water pump assembly. Also, the pump half assembly is the water pump head.

Q: Question for you. I'm looking for a 12v (no AC converter, please) water pump to drive up to 4 water misters. Needs to run off the battery, without an AC converter (already found those). The pump will pull from a water reservoir and provide cooling relief on hot days through the misters. BTW... the pump should be reasonably small, limited to a few pounds...If you have any ideas, please advise.Thanks again,Robert: The ac converters are 12V rectifiers so just use the pump (wire to a battery) without the converter or check with motor home repair place

You probably ought to finish grade school. Then maybe you can find a girlfriend. She may even have a high pressure water pump!

Q: I getting some work done to my like replacing the timing cover gasket, oil pan gasket and the water pump gasket...the mechanic I talked to said I need to replace this as well; my thing is the water pump is fine..should I take his advice?: well, since they gotta take all that crap off to change the gasket, I would, it's cheap insurance..

Q: I am replacing the water pump and want to know exactly where the two o-rings go: There are several rubber seals on a water pump. The biggest irregular shaped seal is obviously for the main portion of the pump (this can not be misinterpreted for something else). The next in size is the o-ring for the thermostat. And 2 additional O-rings (one smaller than the other) are for the return pipes. While removing/pulling out the pump, take care that the pipes do not get pulled outward by the pump. And when putting in the pump just gingerly align the pipes to the holes in the pump and you are good to go.

Q: I have a 1985 Jaguar XJ6 that runs great, that I was thinking about trading for a 1991 Alfa Romeo 164 that needs a water pump. Just wanted to get feedback from Alfa owners and find out how hard it would be to put a water pump in the car. Thanks: About $130.00 for the water pump (first link below). As for the difficulty, take a look at the second link for a good thread on replacing the water pump on the 164.
