- Q: when i press my fingers on my guitars when doing certain chords, the base of my thumb starts to hurt, am i doing it wrong? if so, where should the force come from?
- i had that problem before, try to move you thumb to a more comfortable position if it isn't bareble but otherwise if you keep practicing it will eventually stop. it stopped for me.
- Q: Should the American press be restricted by the government?If so, who decides what the restrictions would be? What would the penalty be for violating it?Would these restrictions change American life?
- No it shouldn't be restricted, that would be a violation of the first amendment. Also it restricts itself enough - see 2003 when the entire media bought the WMD argument hook, line and sinker. That the media has relatively less involvement from the government is one of the greatest things about America, I'm not sure why you'd want to change that.
- Q: I would like to press a purple carnation I got 3-4 days ago. I would prefer to press it onto just a piece of normal printer paper. What would be the best way to press my carnation (w/out getting any books dirty!)? I've never pressed a flower before, so I need all the details - should I cut off them stem, should I press the flower on its side or on its center, etc. Thank you (and yes, I will be marking someone as having the best answer - 10 points baby!) And yeah, I know this is a weird question :P
- I have pressed flowers in the past with good results. Copy paper will do. You can either trim some of the stem or leave as is (as long as it's manageable). Place it on its side between two sheets of copy paper and place something heavy on top. I would suggest to use something like a manila folder on top the copy paper---then put a book on top or something else that's heavy. Leave it undisturbed for awhile. I am not sure at least a month---maybe more. I still have pressed flowers that I have had for 10+ years. Good luck!
- Q: So I have a barbell, and if I were to put my hands closer to the center of the bar, would it work my chest muscles more? Anything else about bench press is welcome.
- Farther apart works chest more. Close grip works your triceps.
- Q: i mean internally what happens when ctrl+f9 is pressed?
- If you are pressing ctrl+f9 from the IDE that you are working then it depends on the IDE, or your configuration. If you are using Turbo c, this key combination compiles the current c source. If you pressing it when running the compiled c program, then it all depends on the environment that you are working in, or the program itself can handle the key combination. This environment means the command line interpreter, the shell and the OS.
- Q: I have some dry, full, rose buds which have an enormous sentimental value to me. I would like to press them somehow, without causing damage or losing petals. Is there any method I could use to make the bud moist and then be able to press it? Any ideas...Thanks!
- Pressing a DRY rosebud is just going to destroy it. I would suggest getting a container to put it in permanently. Alternatively, consider contacting a florist or floral designer to see what they would suggest about preserving it. Don't press a dry flower of any sort - you'll just end up with fragments.
- Q: Last week, I was doing military presses incorrectly. I brought the bar down to touch my chest (which was extended outward), rather than around my chin.The neck day, I awoke with neck pain. I thought I may have slept in a bad position, but the pain increased until I could not move my head w/o a lot of pain that day. It's gotten better since then, but I still have pain. It goes from the bottom of the skull on my left, down my neck to my clavicle.Was it really from the military press, and what can I do? I am going to a doctor, but that may be a week or two away.
- In a military press the bar should come down below your chin but it's possible you could have pulled a muscle by doing the press in bad form or got off balance. Might be a pulled/strained trapezius muscle. A good medicine for this type of pain is Naxproxen by prescription or Aleve over the counter.
- Q: Do press have to contact someone to get on the red carpet or do they just show up with their camera's and accreditation? I have the press release for the premiere i just didn't know if i should let them know I'm coming to the premiere... thanks!
- Most red carpet events require press credentials, which means, in effect, that you need to get their permission first. The press credentials for each event are given out by the officials running the event. They are not general licenses or ID. On the press release, there should be a media contact phone number or email. Contact them and tell them you want to cover the event for your newspaper, magazine, blog, or whatever. If it's a relatively small event, and they are looking for as much press coverage as they can get, they will probably get you a spot on the red carpet. If it's a major event, that the press is hungry to cover, then space on the carpet will be limited, so they will be more particular, and are less likely to let small media outlets in.
- Q: I am finishing a cross-stitch it says to iron it using a pressing cloth
- thin kitchen towel (but do not use terry cloth), I've used a single layer of an old t-shirt (white only) and a single layer of an old pillowcase. You can also use a Handi-wipe but be careful about the heat from your iron. I would not recommend using a high heat with a Handi-wipe...low heat only. I've purchased several kitchen towels (no terry cloth) from Goodwill and use them strictly as a press cloth. Over time, they will get stained from high heat and I throw it away and use another one. Cotton is the best thing for a press cloth and an old t-shirt is a good substitute.
- Q: This may be a difficult question but just out of curiosity, what do you think the equivalent weight would be going from dumbbell press to bench press?At the moment I am doing my sets with 40 pound dumbbells with about 8 or 9 reps a set. I can hit the 50's once or twice
