- Q: I have seen two mice in my apt over the past week. I'm thinking of getting a cat to help with the problem. My friend has a cat and her house always reeks of stinky litter box and cat hairs all over the furniture. Also I have leather sofas. I do not want the cat to scratch p my furniture. How can I get a cat and not have to deal with more problems than I already have. Also I worry about cat food possibly attracting more vermin. Can anyone give me any suggestions?
- Not all cats scratch on furniture, and if the one you plan on getting done, use a spray bottle to spray him when you catch him/her in the act. Make sure you give this cat a scratching post. My kitten has actually never hurt the furniture in anyway, the only thing he scratches on is his scratching post and nothing else. About the fur getting on the furniture the only alternative I would suggest is a lint roller unless there is something new out there to remove pet stains. If you get a litter box that the cat can walk into such as a dog house looking type, it won't stink as much, just put it in a place like the bathroom or a room that is never usually used. About the food, I am not sure but just put the cat's food away at night ugh I wish I could help you with that but I'm completely stumped! Good Luck :]]! Btw; if you decide to adopt a pet, make sure to adopt it at a ASPCA or any other animal shelter. :]] And whatever you do, don't de-claw the cat!

- I'm with CutiePie. I had a cat that scratched the furniture for ages, so I made him a scratchy; I bought 3 planks of a softwood from a timber yard and a ?1 mat from a carpet shop. I screwed the planks to the wall near his cat flap and glued the mat on with PVA. Every time I saw my cat scratch the sofa I told him NO! and I would take him to the scratchy and scratch it myself, then put his paws on it and tell him 'good boy' and rub him between his ears. Anytime I saw him scratching the scratchy I told him 'Good boy'. It took a while but he ripped on the sofa far less and could have gotten out of the habit if he'd not been 14yo already.

- You don't need a green card. It's no longer a stamp, but a card. Either way, depending on where he is stationed have him contact the Passport/SOFA office. You need your passport, marriage certificate, a copy of his orders with your name on it and you should be good to go. NB: Citizens of certain countries may not be eligible for the same day issue. It may require processing but they should be able to tell you and your husband if that is the case with you.

- Q: My son's pull-up leaked over on to my parents brand new sofa!! Fortunately he was only leaned against the cushion, so the foam isn't soaked through. Can this fabric be cleaned safely without removing the cover? I have never successfully reinserted a foam cushion (at least not solo) and these look exceptionally well fitted. We will all be alot happier if they never know about this. Naturally this had to happen on the first new furniture they have ever bought since having kids. Need I say more. HELP!!!
- Wait! okorder /... I spot-cleaned a couple of places on my microfiber sofa and it left rings. So try whatever cleaning method you decide on in an inconspicuous spot first to be sure it won't leave a ring or spot or shrinkage. Removing and replacing a cushion cover is not for the faint-of-heart. Leave that to the pros. You might even want to enlist a pro to work on the stain since it isn't your sofa. PS (I hate microfiber; it collects dirt too easily and doesn't look nice for long if anyone actually uses the furniture!)
