- Q: Is this really difficult to maintain? I have a 7-year old and we live in the tropics. What are the products that we need to use as protector?
- I had a leather sofa only it was black. When it was hot, it felt very uncomfortable sitting on it, especially in shorts because like everyone else has said, you feel like you're becoming one with the sofa from the sweat. Also, a cream color will get dirty because it's such a light color. I agree that a cloth type material is the way to go. Since you live in the tropics, maybe you may want to consider wicker with some nice cushions.

- Q: I got a velour sofa from my neighbor and it is a cool shape but I hate the color. Aside form covering it with a blanket or reupholstering, is there a way to change the color? It is light biege. Is it possible to dye an entire sofa? I doubt it but thought I'd check.
- You Cannot dye a sofa. That'd be pretty awesome if you could though. The best option is getting a covering for it that you can buy to fit your sofa. Custom made- which can be costly, but looks fab!

- Q: Ok well I never paid for the ones I have now, they were passed on from one of my sons, It's all fabric,(can't upholster them myself). Their 7 years old,and he had a dog (male) that had fun scratching it up in different parts, and all the lower edges have stains (dog). when you sit on them you sink in, they give me a terrible rash when I sit on them. He told me that a long wood piece in the sofa was broken, but still I told him to give them to me. Now they are rather taking up space in my living room, since I don't use them cause of the rashes. And I'm rather confused of what to do. They are rather big and my apt is not sized for such big living room set.

- I like them both but their looks are very different. I would go with your first choice: The first one, the gray one is nice. It has clean lines and has the advantage of having 3 main back cushions. It is plainer, which can be good, because it allows you to add your own accent pillows, and does not sit on, what looks like a platform on the second choice. The second option, white and black, is also very nice. The disadvantages I see to this one are: 1) Its main color is white - if it will be used a lot you will always be having to fight with dirt and stains. 2) All the back pillows appear to be loose. I once had a sofa like that and people were always adjusting the pillows to find a comfortable fit. 3) Too many back pillows - once again this boils down to comfort. Have you ever sat, at length, on a sofa like this? Sometimes the pillows sit out too far and it makes for less seating room on the actual cushion. Again, not always a pleasant seating situation. I'd suggest you actually sit on both and see which one feels better to you. Then, you'll have a better idea of which sofa best suits your needs. Good Luck.
