Q: I was wondering about purchasing a sofa bed to clear up space in my room. I dont want to sacrifice my comfort either. So, I came across the Ikea Manstad Sofa bed. it looks sturdy and different from other sofa beds. Those older sofa beds have those metal bars sticking in your back throughout the night making sleep uncomfortable. The Ikea Manstad doesnt have those metal bars but, im not sure if its very comfortable to sleep on. Is it suitable for everyday sleeping or should I stick with my old fashioned firm mattress?
It does look comfortable, but I can't figure out how it converts into a double bed. If you have to slide one side up against the other, I am not sure if this is something you'd want to do each day, then put it back into a sofa. I can't imagine any sofa bed would hold up and be comfortable for everyday use. I think they are more suited for occasional use. Another option you may want to consider is a day bed. A day bed takes a regular twin mattress, and if you wanted comfort, you could use a high-quality one that would be nice for sleeping. I have a day bed in my guest room. It's a trundle, with a second twin that pulls out and pops up. You can either make it a separate bed, or butt it up against the other to make a large bed. The mattresses that came with it are cheap. I've slept on them, and they're not too bad. Certainly more comfortable, I think, than a sleeper sofa. Just something to think about.
Q: Are there any pollution in rattan furniture?
Rattan furniture has the characteristics of natural and environmental protection. In recent years, indoor air pollution caused by furniture has become increasingly serious. It has aroused people's vigilance as much as the pollution of building materials and family decoration pollution. Choosing furniture made of environmentally friendly materials is one of the important elements to ensure a healthy home life.
Q: A visitor sat on our beige color sofa, made of micro fiber, leaving behind a patch of stains. She later told us that she has a skin condition that requires massaging with some oil.The sofa cover is fixed (not the removable washable kind) and we need to clean it. Is there any special chemical solution that helps remove the stain? Professional cleaners here in Germany charge a fortune for such a service.
Never use laundry products on fabrics outside the laundry. They have ruined thousands of yards of carpeting in the US, including bleach and, yes, Oxy Clean. These products should only be used on white fabrics. Professional cleaners carry the necessary products on their van that remove grease/oil stains. One product that is popular is Pro's Choices's Citra Gel. A white creamy solution that cleans well and is easily rinsed out. Unfortunately, the homemaker does not have the ability to fully extract the combinations of solutions from the fabric. Also, micro fiber material can leave water marks/stains if only a partial area of the sofa is cleaned. You need to make the entire surface wet/damp to prevent that from happening. If you decide to resort to cleaning the sofa yourself, try using a mixture of dye free dish soap in a spray bottle as your cleaner, mist the whole sofa with a spray bottle of warm water and than wipe it down with a terry cloth towel. Sponge the stained area repeatedly to remove the soap and grease. Dye free means not colored. Use a clear or white dish soap so you will not accidently dye the fabric.
Q: What is the best type of sofa fabric to have on a sofa- leather, fabric, microfiber, micro suaed , ?
Micro suede or Microfiber is a great fabric for sofas! Wipes clean with water and feels nice to the touch. Leather lasts for a long time though. I have had two leather sofa sets now. (The first one we gave to our son and then purchased another set). The great thing about leather is that you can just wipe it clean. You don't have to worry about kids and their messes. Unless of course you buy a light colored leather. I have a deep chocolate brown which I love. The negative about leather is that it is cold when you fist sit down and that one thing alone can be a deterrent to a purchase. It's just not as cozy as a fabric sofa to lie down on either. The leather does warm up though. If you are looking for a great investment piece that will last you years..go with the leather. A good quality leather.
Q: Is there a Difference Iraq SOFA and SA/SFA ?
The SOFA is the Status of Forces Agreement. This is an agreement between the government of a nation, and the military being stationed in that country. In this case, it's the agreement between Iraq's government, and the United States Military.
Q: Preferrably budget-friendly.
www.okorder is great, you save money because you put it together yourself, and I hear it's pretty easy to do and good quality.
Q: It feels like soft velvet - how do i identify if it is microfiber or suede or just an ordinary fabric.and also how would i know if it is stain guard protected or not?
Without seeing it I would say it would be a microfiber or possibly chenille.......A mircrofiber resembles suede but is synthetic.......Suede would be very costly and a fortune to clean.....Most furniture stores will tell you or give you the option of having a fabric protector applied to the pieces before purchasing. Sometimes the hangtags will identify if the furniture comes already with the protective finish on it or not. When in doubt call your salesperson and they should be able to answer your question or the manafacturer.....
Q: I'm moving cross country and have a very limited decorating budget. I wanted to buy an Ikea sofa but I know how uncomfortable they are. I have an idea to create a sectional sofa/daybed by using two twin bed sets minus the frames and placing them in an L-shape with lots of pillows on top. I have my eye on two Wolf Slumber Express mattresses from Walmart that reviewers say are extremely firm. I'm thinking of just placing two twin mattresses on top of each other, thereby getting some sinking action like on a real sofa instead of putting them on a wooden foundation by themselves. Does anyone have any idea what happens when you put two mattresses on top of each other - do they slip off of each other or do they pretty much stay in position?
Your better off using the foundation underneath, which is specifically designed to supply the mattress with support. Keep in mind that mattresses and sofa's are designed for their intended purpose, so substituting one for the other isn't likely to be effective long-term. Mattresses are designed to absorb the weight of the individual spread over the entire surface area of the mattress, placing your entire weight on a few springs will result in them breaking down quickly. Using a second mattress will only expedite the wear and tear even more.
Q: How to keep frabic sofa clean?
keep plastic on the sofa or put a blanket over the sofa
Q: Hi everyone. I've been in Korea on E2 Visa since 4/2009 and just recently tried to obtain a job, but obviously denied due to the SOFA ordinary resident rule.Stupid rule if you ask me because I am still an American citizen and pay my State Federal taxes each and every year since I have been here. Here are my questions: I have read some answers about leaving Korea every 90 days and go to USA. I have a couple of questions: 1. Is a weekend trip sufficient to Guam?2. Does it matter is I am in Korea on an E2 visa and not a tourist visa? Any additional information or advice is greatly appreciated.Thank you!!!!
I don't know that leaving the country and coming back would make a difference. Even fully qualified military dependents have a hard time getting civilian jobs on post here. A large number of the jobs go to Koreans. Even without that, the definition I've found for an 'ordinary resident' is as follows: Ordinary Resident of U.S. A person who normally lives in the U.S. To meet this definition, an individual must normally maintain a residence in the U.S., receive their mail there, and have their household goods at their U.S. residence, etc. (Note: “Ordinarily resident” is not identical to “legal residence” even though a person may be “ordinarily resident” at his place of “legal residence”. The term “ordinarily resident” refers to the place where a person is actually living in other than a transient or temporary capacity at the time of hire. Where one is “ordinarily resident” is a question of fact and law. Normally it is straightforward and can be determined by looking at where one is physically domiciled at the time of hiring.) Since you obviously live in Korea, it is unlikely that they would give you a job, if you left the country and came back. You would likely have to move back to the States entirely, then reapply and only return once you were given the job.
